  1. Mmm - well looking again at " consultation " doc ,I see that this stretch of Barry Rd marked yellow is described as " existing 20 mph zone road ". So I guess the answer will be ( when I ask Southwark ) that it's inside a 20mph zone - ie adjacent roads are 20mph restricted and signed. Gives the impression that this stretch is also restricted though - and I still can't see any speed restriction signs ,only " you're entering a residential area ,please drive carefully ".
  2. I can't find anything on line ( that would be too simple I guess ) but contact details on doc that I have are Andres Antury 020 7525 5553 [email protected] On a different point - I'm probably a hopelessly inattentive driver ,but consultation doc shows Barry Rd going north from junction with Underhill as already being restricted to 20 mph. Am I alone in being surprised by this information ?
  3. Oh wish I could be more helpful - if water coming from front path maybe call water board ? Definately phone landlady .
  4. Ian ,you poor thing ! Is the flood in the flat you're leaving - if so can't you pass the problem on to someone else ? Or am I misunderstanding ? Rhetorical question ,don't reply - sure you have your hands full. Sending you positive thoughts for no more problems and a sress free move .
  5. The girls were wearing purple and blue tartan skirts There is no purple or tartan in the uniform worn at Lord Harris's East Duwich Girl's Academy. http://www.hgaed.org.uk/index.php?page=info
  6. I agree with Peckhamgatecrasher - it was outrageous yes ,but some of the workers do have mental health problems. Write to head office and wait for response.
  7. the Lane would see the pavements four abreast with shoppers they still are aren't they?
  8. I believe that speed humps reduce speed of traffic. Sadly they also make it virtually impossible for my 90 year old mother to be transported anywhere without jarring and causing pain to her back where she suffers from post herpetic shingles.
  9. I do support the 20 mph proposal for side roads but I do have doubts about it working on Barry Rd.
  10. Oh Pickle ,sounds awful - hopefully it's nearly all behind you now . Damzel - how's your little one ?
  11. Just been looking at the letter from Southwark. 20 mph is fine with me ,though personally I find it quite a struggle to keep my speed from going above 20 to 22,25 mph. Letter says " 20 mph speed limits are only suitable where average speed limits are naturally low ( 24 mph or below ) ". I wonder if this average really does apply to vehicle speed on Barry Rd ,which I note is one of the roads to be included in the 20 mph restriction .
  12. Not top of my list of worries - but illegal parking is dangerous and bad example. I presume that these cars are around to reduce illegal parking and speeding. But wouldn't they be more effective if their presence and purpose were advertised more widely.
  13. Sean - these cars stay in situ for several hours ,they're not just parked for a few minutes while ticketing a car. They have chaps on mopeds for that. One parked in Bellenden this morning for over 3 hours . Think they're more to do with speeding - speed camera sign put up outside bank near Somerfield ,Lordship Lane yeaterday.
  14. Oh it's just gone off . Heaven .
  15. Oh dear - generator the size of a small camper van located on forecourt nearby. Ah well ,no doubt some tale of trouble and worse , neccesitating it's existence. Looks like it's ear plugs for me and gratitude that I'm not living in the house it's supplying.
  16. I'm with Peckham Rose - carry a donor card and add details of allergies. My experience of Kings is that they will not shift incorrect info entered on medical records " your hearing problems are because you were exposed to gun fire in military " - never near the armed forces Liver malfunction listed as result of alcohol abuse when in fact due to other medical conditions. Inability to access toilet due to limited mobility listed as incontinence. ( these are examples from friends ,not me ! ) More record inputting = more errors ,which they will not change even when constantly asked to.
  17. Anyone else been kept awake last night by loud humming noise ? Is it a generator or something ? Sanne Panne - have you taken action to sort your loss of power ?
  18. My concern would be with regard to the accuracy of the records.
  19. Golly not another pedestrian knocked down by a bus - there was one near Peckham bus garage a couple of Mondays ago, one in Albany Rd where the bus mounted the pavement about a month ago Poor people - drivers and injured people. I suppose there's no increase ,just that news spreads so fast these days.
  20. Odd isn't it ,my son has been travelling to school in Pimlico for the last 7 years and ,thank god ,never been mugged. ( crossing fingers that this post doesn't jinx his good luck so far ).
  21. Thank you candj - how stupid of me ! Forgot it wasn't in general section ,didn't search ! Embarrassed ,but at least I'm not going mad as I thought !
  22. Ummm - wasn't there a recent post about this road and people trying to use it by common agreement as a one way road ? Can't see it now. Did I dream it ?
  23. Apologies ,I see that Southwark didn't grant permission themselves - they recommended that the application should be approved and refered it to higher powers RECOMMENDATION 2. Refer to Government Office (GOL) with a resolution to grant planning permission. The application needs to be referred to GOL because it is a major application and a departure from the UDP.
  24. Mmm ,well that status didn't stop Southwark granting planning permission for Alleyn's to build their performing arts centre ,metropolitan open space or not.
