  1. Good question jeanne . Not answered on Southwark's recycling page . Personally I put it in the green bin . I tend to look for the triangular recycling mark on stuff I'm not sure about ( like the trays that meat comes in ) and I don't see it I assume it's not recylable . Hope someone comes along with the answer .
  2. Mark ,that map can be a bit tempremental but if you're quick you might catch it as it seems ok at the moment . 16/AP/3281 | Change of use and part retention/demolition of No 201 to provide 1 x 3 bed house (Use Class C3) and demolition of No.s 203-205 and the erection of a new building comprising 8 x residential apartments (Use Class C3) and associated landscaping, cycling and refuse storage facilities | 201-205 CRYSTAL PALACE ROAD, LONDON, SE22 9EW
  3. Yes teddyboy I was a bit surprised by that welcome pack at ST Thomas's - 3 years ago now ,so I guess they're still giving them out . I didn't need one ,my admission was planned .
  4. I thought it's length rather detracted from some of the points it was making ( but I have a small brain ) .I agree completely that the Democrats are no opposition . McCain seems to be the only person standing up to Trump .And these bits chimed with me . "If Obama often seemed an image of deliberation without appetite, Trump has always been the reverse. For him, there is no time to linger: from the first thought to the first motion is a matter of seconds; the last aversion or appetite triggers the jump to the deed. And if along the way he speaks false words? Well, words are of limited consequence. What people want is a spectacle; they will attend to what you do, not what you say; and to the extent that words themselves are a spectacle, they add to the show. The great thing about words, Trump believes, is that they are disposable. " - but the people might just get catch on if it turns out there are more words than action. A lot of love is going to put a stop to bad people who comit anti semetic acts ? Crime is going to be stopped ? Method seems to be missing ? "The voters have come to understand that the big banks, along with investment companies like Goldman Sachs and transnational corporations, are sovereignties as powerful as states and in some cases more powerful. By vesting a billionaire with extraordinary power, therefore, the voters are going straight to the relevant authority and cutting out the middle man ? the politician." "Trump likes the relationship of money to power in Russia ? and specifically of financial power to government authority ? more than he admires anything special about Putin, whom he has never met and about whom he knows little. " And I loved the rhetoric of his last sentence "The entertainment of the autumn, when a would-be Caesar held us fast in our seats by mixing forbidden truths with his lies, has already glutted the heartiest appetite, but the exits are closed and we are still in the first scene of the first act." I liked Wollfe in the Guardian yesterday https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/feb/14/mike-flynn-resignation-trumps-nightmare-begun-mar-a-lago ,but that's because I'm hoping Trump will go even though I fear Pence . Though Bromwich in your link Jay gives me hope when pointing out that Trump will be in breach of the constitution regarding emoluments if his hotel is used by foreign dignatories .
  5. I've copied this because it seems to me such a ridiculous response to a question about anti semitism, almost unbelievable . Q ? ?Mr. President, since your election campaign and even after your victory, we?ve seen a sharp rise in anti-Semitic incidents across the United States. ?And I wonder what you say to those among the Jewish community in the States, and in Israel, and maybe around the world who believe and feel that your administration is playing with xenophobia and maybe racist tones. And, Mr. Prime Minister, do you agree to what the President just said about the need for Israel to restrain or to stop settlement activity in the West Bank? ?And a quick follow-up on my friend?s questions -- simple question: ?Do you back off from your vision to the end of the conflict of two-state solution as you laid out in Bar-Ilan speech, or you still support it? ?Thank you. PRESIDENT TRUMP: ?Well, I just want to say that we are very honored by the victory that we had -- 306 Electoral College votes. ?We were not supposed to crack 220. ?You know that, right? ?There was no way to 221, but then they said there?s no way to 270. ?And there?s tremendous enthusiasm out there. ? I will say that we are going to have peace in this country. ?We are going to stop crime in this country. ?We are going to do everything within our power to stop long-simmering racism and every other thing that?s going on, because lot of bad things have been taking place over a long period of time. ? I think one of the reasons I won the election is we have a very, very divided nation. ?Very divided. ?And, hopefully, I?ll be able to do something about that. ?And, you know, it was something that was very important to me. As far as people -- Jewish people -- so many friends, a daughter who happens to be here right now, a son-in-law, and three beautiful grandchildren. ?I think that you?re going to see a lot different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. ?I think a lot of good things are happening, and you?re going to see a lot of love. ?You?re going to see a lot of love. ?Okay? ?Thank you read more: http://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/1.771992
  6. I don't think that you should intepret comments about a particular element ( say lamp post banners ) as meaning that the poster thinks that this is the sole focus of the iniative .
  7. Personally I would plead for no more street clutter ,no lamp post banners . No one notices them after a few months .( I can't remember whether the Rye Lane street banners are still there ,anyone else ? ) and they quickly look faded ,tatty ,sad .
  8. I'm not sure I'm actually contributing anything Jenny ,just raising questions and hoping for reality checks . I've not read this properly but lots about investigating the whole links with Russia thing and how any Flynn investigation would just be a part of that . https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/02/michael-flynn-resignation-congress-investigation/516633/?utm_source=atltw
  9. Trump and Russia - I have zero idea of the legitimacy of any of these claims but they sound believable to me . http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/1/9/1618540/-Was-Donald-Trump-bailed-out-of-bankruptcy-by-Russia-crime-bosses http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/2/14/1633577/-Manafort-Page-Flynn-Trump-Russia-is-the-one-story-that-can-bring-them-all-down and I know nothing about The Daily Kos https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Kos
  10. And I don't want to overload this thread with humerous links ( so easy ) but this is about Trumps handshaking style . The "Trump Pump " .http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/02/14/donald-trumps-handshakes-like-man-aggressive-confusing-secretly/
  11. Yes ,those names .Add to the surreal quality of it all ,like watching a film . My brain really isn't up to all this ,but Trump was well aware before his innaugration that discussions with Russia needed investigating .How can he ( rhetorical question ) claim that it's just now that he's lost confidence in Flynn. See this old news about it http://edition.cnn.com/2017/01/10/politics/donald-trump-intelligence-report-russia/index.html
  12. Yes ,I've heard that about root canals to difficult to access back teeth . Front teeth are easier apparently .
  13. I agree Jenny ,I think they'll just use Flynn to distance themselves .And I guess you're right about the Republicans ,proving Trump correct about the swamp .Sigh . I located the story about not visiting Russia ,it was re a Michael Cohen https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/01/michael-cohen-it-is-fake-news-meant-to-malign-mr-trump/512762/
  14. Jenny - yes ,re kiss of death . And thanks for link yesterday .I keep wondering what the Republicans are up to . I just can't believe they will let Trump carry on ,have they no shame > Regarding Flynn - was it him that was reported to have visited Russia ? And Trump said no no ,fake facts etc .He showed me his passport . Or was it someone else ?
  15. That's lovely to read .Well done for taking on such a daunting task and perservering . And I think swans mate for life so it would have been two distressed swans without your help .
  16. Well I don't think any apologies are due - many thanks for the EDF and your work .
  17. Ah Malumbu , I suspect I'm in the same category as you ,henceable to speak with experience .So Sad .
  18. And AG ,if it's any comfort here's a true tale which I'm telling to reassure you that dental work need not be painful - the dentist before my penultimate dentist was lovely . He had to drill through an existing gold crown/cap to do a root filling .I was so worried about the process that he offered to put a ?100 on the side cupboard which I could keep if I felt any pain .He kept his money ! I only stopped going to him because the receptionists were a pain and ,hard to explain ,but he had to do a lot of work just before I started chemo and going back brings back disturbing memories . And don't feel that you're a wimp - of course lying prostrate while someone comes at your mouth with power tools requires enormous trust in the person who's wielding said tools . And it's hard to trust someone you don't know . But take it from someone who has a lot of experience with dentists - you'll be fine with Chris .
  19. AG - I've had a number of root fillings . Even with not very good dentists they are not that bad . With a good dentist they are no different from a normal filling though may take longer . There is NO NEED for there to be any pain .You might get tired keeping your mouth open . They seem to have acquired some kind of mythical status - often referred to in American shows in jokey/horrific tones . And people saying you can have the rest of the day off work - by all means do ,but I don't think you need to . I think they can vary depending on the position and the root .My penultimate ( private ) dentist said he didn't do root fillings they were specialist work and he'd prefer to refer me to someone else . You'll be safe with Chris ,I guarantee it .
  20. AG - he really is good . He uses cotton wool ( or something ) with a numbing gel and then does the injection more slowly than I have ever experienced so you feel absolutely nothing . And he has always used enough so I have never had to ask him to stop and request more pain relief . Honestly ,I have a mouthful of fillings and crowns and he is the best dentist I've come across .Transformed my life . And available on NHS .
  21. What a shock ,you poor thing . As for why - possibly the involvement of alcohol and/or drugs may have dispensed with logic .
  22. I've tried many dentists but bless the day a friend recommended Chris Tremaine at Dulwich Dental Clinic ,next to the post office . 020 8299 1334. Terrific dentist .The Best . All the other dentists are fake dentists .
  23. Thanksz Jenny .That seems logical and understandable .
  24. People stay interested if stuff is sharp and relevant and get bored and stop reading if crap is posted and reposted ? Who knew ? I see that a federal judge is disagreeing with Robart - I can't think how this "works" ? Would it be the case that HS officials working at airports in Mass. turn peoople away ? While their colleagues in other states follow Robart ? "On Friday, a federal judge in Massachusetts declined to extend a temporary stay against the order issued last week, after expressing scepticism about arguments that the ban represented religious discrimination." https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/04/so-called-judge-donald-trump-attacks-decision-to-halt-travel-ban
  25. Oh Delainie you sound so nice .Quite brought tears to my eyes . I think you should write to Guys rather than phone ,or when you're speaking to them ask who you should address a formal complaint to .This health professional will be visiting other vulnerable people and they won't all have people like you to watch out for them .He needs training ,or something .And his managers might be waiting for a reason to take some action ,your complaint might be expected and they might be glad of a reason to take some action with this person .
