Red Devil - yes I agree about people feeling that Obama'a presidency was rhetoric and that they are still suffering badly . I read the following on another forum and thought it had the ring of truth . "Obamacare was a brilliant idea, totally neutered by the Senate and Congress. The end result is not the start of social healthcare but a system which actually costs the working poor and lower middle class more. For instance, it used to be the case in America that most young people not in occupational health schemes used to get the equivalent of "3rd party only" car insurance on an old banger. You bought insurance for the unlikely but massively expensive risk of hospital treatment following a car accident or similar, then paid your way as and when on the cheaper stuff like a course of antibiotics for strep throat. Now you have to pay for insurance - and the co-pays mean you're paying more than if you'd bought the antibiotics outright. Obamacare in practise has actually made healthcare moreexpensive for a lot of the poor. So again, the poor are looking at an outgoing president and saying "it was all talk, it didn't actually make my very hard life any easier."

edcam - you say that having a sign indicating closure at j of Lyndhurst Way and Lyndhurst Junction wouldn't help much . It would have helped me .I would have chosen to drive to ED via Bellenden ,Maxted and Adys Rd .

My gut reaction is yes yes to disabled parking .I don't know if it's just me but I haven't grasped that TFL actually have a problem that needs resolving . They say "Over the last 12 to 18 months, as development work has continued at an unprecedented level across the Capital, our available bus standing space has been severely impacted, as older stands have been removed or made unavailable for prolonged periods of time."" this seems very unspecific ,what development work are they talking about ? Is it the bike super and quiet ways ? I can't think ( doesn't mean there aren't any ) of other works to roads . Though on going road repair I guess impacts on the short term . "We have had to route buses to other nearby locations, which has increased the pressure on our remaining operational bus stands." Again ,to me ,this seems very vague . I'm not familiar with the location of other bus stands near Barry Rd,it would be good if TFL could say which ones they are talking about .Or is it a domino effect from other problems with bus stands ...does it work like that ? Mmm,I'd be more reassured and have more confidence in all the checking and assesment referred to by TFL if they were not an organisation who apparently managed to have a completely incorrect sign erected and left in place for ( as far as I can tell from Google streetview ) at least 8 years

paco - you could always get a copy of your neighbours title plan from the Land Registry to see if what he's saying is correct . It's only a few pounds .

When Southwark's online site re planning applications was re jigged a few years ago I noticed that it was not possible to access documents relating to older applications . This has bugged me for a while - partly because I enjoy their historical content but mainly because they provide useful information on how Soujthwark handle planning applications and objections . Now I find that public comments made less than 2 years ago ( may not relate to all applications but certainly to the one I'm interested in ) are no longer available to view . Does anyone know how to access older records ? I'm guessing it involves phoning Southwark ,personally visiting the office ? Anyone feel that is very unhelpful ?

That would REALLY annoy me if I were given orders like that . To me it seems an awful waste of money trying to control the movements of those affected residents . Could it be some kind of Health and safety effort ? Does closing the roads prevent them from being blocked by car parking of people attending the event ????But then that would be explained surely ?

I'm not sure I understand what needs will be met by having the bus stand operatiobal during the day .Is more parking space needed for buses ?
