  1. Mmm,I'd be more reassured and have more confidence in all the checking and assesment referred to by TFL if they were not an organisation who apparently managed to have a completely incorrect sign erected and left in place for ( as far as I can tell from Google streetview ) at least 8 years
  2. paco - you could always get a copy of your neighbours title plan from the Land Registry to see if what he's saying is correct . It's only a few pounds .
  3. The application is listed but eg for those in 2006 there are no documents available .
  4. When Southwark's online site re planning applications was re jigged a few years ago I noticed that it was not possible to access documents relating to older applications . This has bugged me for a while - partly because I enjoy their historical content but mainly because they provide useful information on how Soujthwark handle planning applications and objections . Now I find that public comments made less than 2 years ago ( may not relate to all applications but certainly to the one I'm interested in ) are no longer available to view . Does anyone know how to access older records ? I'm guessing it involves phoning Southwark ,personally visiting the office ? Anyone feel that is very unhelpful ?
  5. That would REALLY annoy me if I were given orders like that . To me it seems an awful waste of money trying to control the movements of those affected residents . Could it be some kind of Health and safety effort ? Does closing the roads prevent them from being blocked by car parking of people attending the event ????But then that would be explained surely ?
  6. I'm not sure I understand what needs will be met by having the bus stand operatiobal during the day .Is more parking space needed for buses ?
  7. Aah ,thanks guys . Yes not too bad now ,just a bit shocked .
  8. Not sure if my thanks will get there but worth a try - very grateful to everyone who rallied round when I was ill in my car . Bus driver who pulled up,lovely sensible ladies who got off bus to help ,male passerby who was dragooned in to move my car ( twice ! ) ,kind kind man who was offering to take me in to his home ,those who phoned for ambulance and waited with me . You're all stars . My thanks ( and true British mortification ) know no bounds .
  9. I imagine that the difficulties in relation to Barry Rd being a LT route are to do with that involving another layer of bureaucracy and negotiation. But I could be wrong .
  10. I do wonder what the motives could have been ,what spectrum they were on ,sinister or otherwise ...
  11. Oh Firekat I'm sorry to hear that ! Have you got someone looking after you ? Are you managing ? Do you need any help ?
  12. As far as I can see it's a work in progress . Road works in lyndhurst Way still on going ,construction vehicles in Highshore next to Harris Academy playground etc
  13. I agree with the 20mph limit but I don't find it easy to keep my speed to that .I find I'm always looking at my speedo or having to growl along in a second or third gear . Wish I was a better driver ....
  14. Thanks sdrs that's helpful .
  15. I don't know if anyone's heard but there's a bit of a crisis in Greece . A ?12.82 bn cut in public funding -public sector wages cut by 20%,wages of employees of state-owned enterprises cut by 30%,health spending cut by nearly 2 billion euros ,pensions cut by 20% ,huge tax increases -property /income/VAT .Self employed and farmers have to pay 100% income tax in advance . Considering the effect on people loosing jobs ,loosing income ,schools closing, trying to find pharmacies that have drugs for heart conditions ,insulin for diabetics ,ventolin for asthmatics ..then yes ,I agree with Alice the priorities displayed in this thread about 2 puppies seems distatesful.
  16. "I thought that as well, but do acknowledge that that bit of the pavement had been semi-blocked because of the tree so perhaps it was a coincidence or the planning people decided to let it go given that a bid for a dropped kerb had been put in." Mmm - well if the tree was being removed because it was diseased and it's Southwark's policy to replace trees ,why isn't it being replaced ? As for planning letting it go ... I didn't think that removing /replacing street trees was up to the planning department ? Though happy to be enlightened .
  17. I guess I should have googled first ,though I don't always find that Southwark's on line guidance is current . Anyway tho I've not yet read the whole document I found this in Southwark's Tree Management Strategy "6.1 Replacement Planting Replacement tree planting is needed to replenish Southwark?s tree stock: to replace trees lost through disease, age and development, and to conserve and enhance Southwark?s varied landscape character. The size of tree and design layout needs to complement the existing landscape character and be appropriate for the function of the site. Replacement planting will be undertaken between November - March for trees removed in the previous 12 months to ensure the replenishment of Southwark?s tree stock." on p 24 there are details re contacting S'wark about trees . https://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/2621/tree_strategy
  18. If a mature tree is removed ,was growing in a metre square tree pit ,will it be replaced ? The tree was reportedly diseased and had for many years been growing at an angle .I'm slightly suspicious as it's removal makes an application for a dropped kerb and off street parking feasible . Anyone know ? RCH ? Does Southwark have a policy ?
  19.
