Forest Hill Road Practice - in Meltdown ?
intexasatthe moment replied to George Orwell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't understand your post gerrit . Why are you saying that it seems doctors don't see patients anymore ? Why are you saying that you can't make an appointment unless you have chest pains ? Their website says the following How To Make An Appointment We offer a range of appointments to help patients when accessing advice and treatment from our clinical team Routine face to face consultations ? these are available up to one month in advance for all clinicians. Each GP appointment is 10 minutes long and each nurse appointment is 15 minutes long. Double appointments are available on request and we advise that you discuss your requirements with the receptionist when booking. Routine telephone consultations ? these are available up to one month in advance for all clinicians. The timings for these slots are approximate however we will endeavour to call you back as near to the booked time as reasonably possible. Urgent appointments ? there are appointments on each working day available for patients requiring urgent access to clinical advice and treatment; these will be with either a GP or the nurse practitioner. You will be asked by the receptionist for brief details of the reasons for the appointment and advised accordingly; this is to ensure that these appointments are used appropriately for urgent problems. Urgent telephone advice ? during our core hours of opening there will be a duty doctor available to assess urgent problems. The duty doctor will also be responsible for undertaking home visits as well as liaising with outside agencies such as hospitals, social services and care homes. You will be asked by the receptionist for brief details of the reasons; this is to enable the duty doctor to prioritise any urgent calls. -
Broadband Connection playing up

Very obvious I know ,and you've probably done it ,but have you tried resetting the router by switching it off for a bit and turning it on again . Sorry if teaching you to suck eggs..... -
Lot of useful advice on here but I know if it were grumpy old me I'd be reading the comments advising me to engage with my neighbours in a friendly way ,open a bottle of wine with them etc and thinking ...it would be nice if they were taking the iniative with the wine etc . Perhaps they have ? But the OP sounds perfectly reasonable ,not combatative ,and not particularly in need of being told to play nice . "The work is going to be a nightmare for us but not much we can do about that. We are really more concerned with the height of the party wall being erected because there is only a small gap between our houses and it is going to feel very oppressive"

Can you say whereabouts on Barry Rd you are ? Great pics by the way . -
This thread http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1642969 has link to pictures . I must say I'm almost impressed by the ingenuity of this .But I've had a much loved bike stolen in the past so I'm more interested in keeping bikes safe than wondering at the cleverness of thieves .

Why do you think the boundary of the land > purchased from Network Rail is incorrect? > > John K I don't really John I just think they could be . And that location plans submitted with applications for pp show only the proposed development plot outlined in red and nothing else .Not ownership for example . I'm a little bitter because my neighbour has got pp to develop land that is not entirely his . Planning authorities don't ( can't ) get involved in boundary or ownership details /disputes .It is presumed that developer is telling the truth and burden and cost is on the objector to prove . Developers get away with such stuff - 4th floor above Iceland ,retrospective pp for Cafe Nero that was granted permission to operate as a take away but only ever operated as a restaurant and so on .
-
Developers draw red lines round the plot they wish to develop .They also indicate that they own the whole of that area . But IME sometimes that red line creeps over into someones else's land .
-
As far as I can recall it mentioned a woman ( no name ) from Railway Rise , gave a land registry link and quoted various companies who were thought to own the road .

I had a look on Southwark's interactive planning map to see if other houses in your road who'd had work done had any useful plans on line . But sadly it now seems that "older" applications ( though is 3 years ago really old ? ) have no documents on line . Such a shame . I didn't check Landells half houses ,might be some there . -
Jeremy - I need diagrams ! Would this work with terraced houses ? Would every household have to join in ? How would it accomodate people who wanted a front garden? Ghlpc - agree with all you say ,tho not sure of legality of last sentence .I mean legality of action suggested in last sentence.
-
Penguin - if you walk around the mean streets of East Dulwich you'll find that parking more than one car at the front of your terraced house is not the norm . Quite agree with your last paragraph re drainage and the deployment of council activity and funds .

Car taken off road and parked on forecourt - one less car No parking across dropped kerb -one less parking space No gain or loss to parking spaces . Double yellow lines either side of dropped kerb - loss of 3 car parking spaces http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/473/guide_to_parking/3069/dropped_kerbs_and_driveways/4

Jeremy - that's a point about electric cars ,but not necessary to have access to private forecourt .Some kerbside provision already exists for charging electric cars .I'd vote for extending this as opposed to getting rid of front gardens.

Maybe TheCat has aesthetic or environmental concerns . Or possibly a concern that the pavement will be damaged as it's not designed ,as a crossover is ,for driving over .Perish the thought . It would be interesting to know what the position is now re double yellow lines either side of new dropped kerbs. James Barber has led me to believe that the new policy of installing these 2 metres to either side has been dropped when the crossover is in a side/minor road .But still holds for roads like Barry Rd .In which case I believe there is the opportunity for neighbours to comment . And yes TheCat I believe you can park in front of your neighbours forecourt/garden .
