  1. I'm not keen on William Roses's attitude ( sure he'll be loosing sleep ) . When his shop was at Vauxhall he had signs up at Christmas time re ordering Christmas turkeys ." Regular customers only " In his LL shop a couple of winters ago I was told by staff that they weren't allowed to shut the door to the shop .When I said " well I'm freezing and how would he know " I was told that he watched them on the web cam. Now that the lovely Sabrina has left I wouldn't shop in there .
  2. uncle glen - I don't understand your post . Do you think headteachers currently determine what goes on in their schools ? What point are you agreeing with DaveR on ?
  3. Just copying this from offered and for sale .I know it shouldn't go in Family ,but ....feeling anarchic today . Fancy a cheap Break at Camber Sands this weekend? Posted by louloulabelle Today, 11:13AM We are now unable to go but I have a Bronze Caravan booked at Park Resorts Camber Sands, East Sussex from Friday 20th May (tomorrow) for 3 nights for 2 adults and up to 3 children. Includes Bed Linen and Service Charge included. I paid ?91 for it and would be willing to pass it on for ?45. You will need to collect the Booking papers from me as the name can't be changed but other than booking ref when you get there no ID or other ref will be made to who's attending. Please PM louloulabelle if intersted.
  4. Yes ,yes but sometimes when there's a lot of noise one does use the colloquial expression " sounds like murder " . I'm guessing Sue understands the distinction between murder and nature .
  5. As I read it the land is transferred to central government ownership .Then it can be leased by central gov to the Academy . And at the end of the lease central gov will own the land won't they ? I'm not sure what term should be used to describe this action - taking land away from local authorities ? I don't understand the comment that reality is being rewriten .
  6. worth a try muggle .Well done . This bit from Wandle "We are suggesting that we work together for residents to appoint an independent advisor. The advisor would work for residents and one of their jobs would be to check what we are saying is accurate. We are looking for residents who would like to be on a panel that first selects and then works with the advisor. " sounds hopeful ,any residents tell us how it's going ?
  7. I keep looking at this thread in despair not knowing what to do or advise Can anyone think of another group of Housing Association ( or local authority for that matter ) tenants who have been involved in anything similar ? Who might offer advice ? Any local celebreties who might raise the profile - I can only think of Jo Brand and Jenny Eclair ... Has anyone contacted Shelter for advice/support ?http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice Does the Housing Corporation still regulate Housing Associations ? They must have a code of practice for situations like this ? I have to say I was depressed reading Wandle's information sheet ,especially this "Impact on Wandle The money we are going to spend on this project ? including buying back homes - will mean a reduction in the number of new homes we build and/or fewer improvements to our other homes. It is important that we are fair to residents of Solomon?s Passage and we have to protect the interests of all who live in our 7300 homes." I understand the points they make but the comment ,in this context ( ie an explanatory note relating to Solomon's Passage ) doesn't give enough priority to those residents affected .I think the focus should be on the residents ,and a wishy washy "be fair to " doesn't do it for me . I don't think that the resident's of these flats should be thinking about protecting Wandle's other tenants . It's Wandle's responsibilty yes, but it's nothing to do with the resident's of SP and mustn't dilute Wandle's response to them .
  8. Thanks MarkT ,yet another senior moment .
  9. Renata says "I can't get any firm response about what happened with building control inspections " is everyone reading that as Southwark being involved ? Renata's post also contains this regarding shared ownership residents " Others will move to temporary accomodation nearby and move back in 18 months time. " but Wandle only say they'll try and rehouse people nearby and warn that this might not be possible "For leaseholders and shared owners we would help them find alternative private rented accommodation equivalent to their flat. We would try and find homes in East Peckham, but this may not be possible." And is it just me or does anyone else struggle with Wandle's wording "They would continue to pay the amount of mortgage (and rent for shared owners) that they pay now and we would pay the private sector rent, up to the amount they would receive if their existing property was rented "
  10. Everything that TE44 has said . This is unimaginable . Has Harriet Harman responded to you ? Have you contacted the national press ?
  11. High end vinyl ? Our lease says lots of things - no music after 11pm ,no window boxes ...
  12. In your opinion Loz .
  13. I'm so shocked by this that I don't know what say . Presumably the buildings were poorly constructed and didn't conform to building regs .How did that come about ? Aren't buildings checked as they are constructed ? What will happen to the tenants who have to move .What will happen to children who attend local primary schools and their parents who will have new journey's to work and visit relatives ?
  14. "On an other occassion I called to request a Blue bin to replace my Blue box. I was asked what size I wanted (there are 3 different sizes.) " that's interesting DF . I've had a voice mail from Veolia ( who were forwarded my request by Southwark ) telling me " no problem at all " to provide a 360 to replace two 240's an email from Southwark telling me that they only offer 2 sizes ( I'm after the larger 360 to replace 2 240s ) a conversation with Veolia who said various things like ," we've recently engaged with people on Barry Rd " and as a result our supply of 360 bins is depleted . Going to be months before any back in stock . Can't log my interest ,I'll need to reapply through Southwark . I'm guessing the earlier voice mail was perhaps over enthusiastic ,a mistake . Certainly the 360 bins exist ,I've seen one or two .No more . Not lining Barry Rd ,that's for sure .But I'm guessing they're not routinely supplied /a secret . But if someone told me in a rush of blood to the head ,fine no problem yes you can have a 360 bin and it was a mistake ,well ,just say so . I'd understand . We all make mistakes . I don't want to be told a load of old toffee about having none left after recent engagement...... But one 360 bin would save time and money on the collection side I imagine - one movement instead of two .
  15. What about the item that has appeared attached to the traffic lights at junction of Crystal Palace Rd and East Dulwich Rd ,northbound .Just past swimming pool . I can't post a pic .Though I feel that were I to try and take one I'd be entered on some surveillence log and arrested .
  16. It's ok ,I find they answer emails fine . It was just that I was trying to return a call and finding it frustrating . It's going to be fine.....
  17. Well I'm not ...some of their patient service officers could do with some training .
  18. Believe me if I could I would . But over 45mins on the phone only to be cut off I've gone back to email .Which they seem effecient at replying to ,so I don't mind using that route .
  19. kibris - have you tried phoning about this type of thing ? I've currently spent 45 mins so far ....,phone eventually answered but greeted with a totally flat voice saying " just hold the line a minute" and I'm now being treated to an ongoing beep . Which after 10 mins has been disconnected . I'm emailing again .
  20. As far as I know one of the distinguishing features of this latest tranche of Academies is that the land is moved from LA ownership to central government . And isn't it going to cost a lot of money ....?
  21. I'd second Woodfalls for great service . And ALL the staff there are lovely ,helpful and professional .Unlike the other LL opticians where those qualties can be lacking in certain employees .Unless said individual has retired now .
  22. Yes ,thanks tomskip and big thanks to Southwark who did the same for me - emailed me back for clarification . Thank you also Renata - I was actually asking about the possibilty of having two 240 l bins being replaced by one 360 bin .... It would be lovely to reduce the number of bins at the front of the house ,divided into flats ,where I live . To share a slightly larger capacity bin ( more or less same footprint _ as opposed to having one each . But of course I imagine this would be a v costly exercise if carried out on a large scale .Although I would pay if not tooo hugely expensive .
  23. that's strange ,must be me ,going mad or something . I'll try again another day . sigh
  24. I wanted to ask if I could have a replacement refuse bin but the Southwark link ,although entitled "replacement bin and waste bags " only allows you to ask for more waste bags. https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=728 Have S'wark stopped providing replacement bins ? If so does anyone know cost and mechanism to obtain a replacement ?
  25. There's a long running thread on Mumsnet that deals almost exclusively with breast cancer . http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/2590723-All-the-fives-Tamoxigang-cancer-support-thread-55?pg=14 You may find the on line support helpful and possibly could locate people near who might like to meet up . Good luck .
