  1. " Southwark Labour put lots more into reserves which are at record levels. " - well I agree that doesn't sound like a good move in these straitned times .I wonder what the rationale is .And how the figure compares to when there was a LibDem/Con coalition in control .
  2. Sorry BrandNewGuy - not directed at you .It's JB's constant seizing on stuff in an effort to big up his "lot" . Red mist descends .
  3. Scandalous that this lot have cut back on something like leaf clearing ,I wonder why they've done so ? Funding reduced by 40% in last 5 years ? So what ,wouldn't have affected James Barber's lot . No doubt this tryanny of autumn leaf drop - leaves on the pavement ! treacherous tree roots hidden ( near trees ,who knew ? } from sight would be high on James Barber's lot's priority list . Someone should start a petition .Clear our pavements ! Think of the children ! And the joggers .
  4. I'm also wondering where OP parked .Peckham Lidl don't have ticketed parking . Maybe Ophir Rd ?
  5. Easy to register on line ,no letter from practice needed .
  6. Nothing will be done . And I wonder what could be done .Apparently it's not so much a busy road junction and footpath but a building site with deliveries . I suppose Southwark could have added conditions to the planning permissions for the sites ,but I doubt they have the manpower or will to enforce them . At least it's so outrageous and intrusive that vehicles have no option but to take it very slowly ,thus reducing potential for motor accidents .And I guess pedestrians aren't important .Or bikes .
  7. Mmm ,that's what I thought ,so I guess last stop ( going towards Putney ) will be on East Dulwich Rd ,just before Goose Green Roundabout ?
  8. can anyone tell me if the 37 stops to pick up passengers while it's diverted from East Dulwich Grove . And details of it's route ?TFL is being less than helpful .
  9. I see her around ,she's toned down the whiteness .Still wears white clothes but skin tone is no longer white .
  10. Bed bug bites are BIG ,not tiny like dreamcatcher's.
  11. Well done for bringing paint and owner together .I love a happy ending .
  12. Is the land in Southwark T&G ?
  13. Sounds tricky and wish I could offer advice . My only ,very limited , experience with rural planning authorities is that they are a law to themselves . sorry . Have you tried this http://www.selfbuildportal.org.uk/forum/5-planning-issues forum ?
  14. Good points penguin . Not thought of it that way, though sounds obvious now you've said it !
  15. Apologies for getting in a stew over use of " backland " . It's definition is quoted in the officer's report as "Paragraph 3.8 of the Dulwich SPD describes back land development as the development of new houses or garages in back gardens. " so nothing to see here -)
  16. That thought had crossed my mind first mate ,to the extent that I was slightly worried about posting in case it encouraged the developer . But somehow I suspect that developers don't need any encouragement and aren't dependent on reading the EDF for tips .
  17. That's a very fair and reasonable post emilydina . Particularly this " core issue here is that go ahead set their drivers time cards that need them to be be at a certain buss top at a certain time which is often vwry un realistic timing if you acount for traffic in peckham and now a 20mph road. So in order for them to remain on time they are having to make up time constantly" The 12's terminate at the top of Barry Rd so perhaps they feel compelled to complete this last straight stretch quickly to meet an imposed target . TBH I'm not so worried about the buses speeding ( if that's what they do ) on Barry Rd .They're big and mainly red and very noticeable .I find cars and motorbikes more of a threat as they seem to come out of the blue .I've volunteered to be part of a project to record speeds on Barry Rd - more because I'm curious to know the facts than because I'm convinced it's a real issue .
  18. Great news Omega and absolutely the right decision . But ... I am very surprised by the use of the word " backland" as opposed to " garden " in the decision notice . Southwark allow development on backland ,even where it includes a small area of garden and even where the backland in question has never been built on . Garden v backland is a very important distinction .So seems odd for Southwark to describe it as backland in this case .
  19. I remember J&H as being a bit of a mess -) .Very ramshackle and untidy ,lots of different departments . But this was in the 50/60's ,so past it's best I suspect .
  20. Car park is open Sat and Sun and is free on those days .
  21. The topic in question is "living through building work(side return extension ) .This implies that advice is sought on living in a house while building work is carried out .Perhaps reflecting on the fact that one is fortunate to be in a position to do this will help people " live though it " . Advice sought and given . Not neccesary to open the thread ,the title is self explanatory .
  22. Well we all have our views don't we hellosailor ? I think it's inflamatory and aggresive to use words like "jeering " . I don't think there's any reason to think that gillandjoe aren't prepared to "take it" .They've started this thread and also said they're happy to meet LM ( in response to the comment that they'd never express themselves face to face in the way they do on line ) .
  23. LondonMix - your explanation was based on a belief that gillandjoe was trolling .This seems to me to be both critical and unfounded and hardly an explanation. Talk of gillandjoe's post in the same breath as " heaping abuse " is hardly the language of someone who seems to be saying that they prefer supportive, productive exchanges .
