Do you want to gamble on, say, whether your assessment of 'reasonable suspicion' is accurate and provable, in such a piddling case? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_arrest -
Every so often there are threads here about objects lost or found locally. How many of them result in a successful restoration? Do the police still handle lost property?

I've concluded that the Nat Rail Journey Planeer shows just the standard timetable, with maybe a red flag linking to any updates. Both up and down trains seen at ED at 15.30, but none at 15.45. That's suggestive evidence of the Croydon branch running, and the Beckenham Junction branch still not.

Did the additional ?101.84 debits go to different payees? Or perhaps rather, were they all shown as cash withdrawals at this place?

Tomorrow a greater danger, boredom, may begin to show. Perhaps there'll be even more walkers into work. I came across this btw, from Paul Terry, in a uk.transport.london thread today: "My grandfather, who was station master at Monument, once walked 15 miles to work in one of the impenetrable smogs of the 1950s - he got up at midnight and left home before 1am, and was only a little late in opening up the station soon after 6am - I always remember him complaining that he had to walk slowly because visibility was down to three feet in places."

The National Rail Journey Planner doesn't seem to be any use as a primary source. It seems to just show the trains as per the usual timetable (eg Bromley S->Victoria and ED-LBr trains for tomorrow still listed), with an added red flag pointing you to the all-important updates. The train companies' sites (Southern, as above, and http://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/main.php?page_id=5) seem to be the authoritative ones, with the national local stations' Arrivals and Departures pages (ED's as above) as a useful confirmation of the current state.

That's interesting. Can I ask how many flats in the building? I'd have thought it would be rather risky for them unless they knew that all occupants were out for some time.

Top 'My Wife's Bored' shops in East Dulwich

Getting involded in ED council matters

I tried joining the "Southwark Councils Discussion Forum", of which the forum you mention is part, a few months ago. I soon came to the conclusion that the whole forum is more or less moribund, nothing like a live discussion, and essentially of little use to man or beast. http://www.southwark.gov.uk/SouthwarkDiscussion/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2373. If anyone's had a rosier experience, please do say. -
I'm getting confused now. In what way are the 'Apex Promotions' people (Dave337's post onward) a police matter rather than inept and possibly objectionable cold callers, getting potential contacts for a 'real' salesperson to make the real pitch? Is there any suggestion that they're not in fact who they say they are? Has anyone asked them what happens with the phone number and why a mobile one apparently won't do?
-
Apex Direct Promotions as above are registered at Companies House: incorporated November 2007. The Andura might be Andura Coatings Ltd of London E1, who seem from their former names to be in masonry paints. The only other names beginning Andura are registered at one Bicester address.

Anon Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Does anyone know what to do about cars that have > been dumped? Well, there's a direct.gov page on the subject http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/HomeAndCommunity/WhereYouLive/NoiseNuisanceAndLitter/DG_4001703 , and that refers to a DEFRA document http://www.defra.gov.uk/environment/localenv/legislation/cnea/vehicles.pdf which advises councils on the law and of factors that they might consider, given the absence of any legal definition, in deciding whether a vehicle is 'abandoned'.

The correct number of the ED sorting office is (020) 8299 9471 (as obtained from this forum in July http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,145281,151760#msg-151760) -
Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That's horrific - I thought it was just my > imagination that they were so frequent. I suspect that snapshot will be close to the _current_ maximum density for ED, and that there's a large amount of variation, both within and between days. Perhaps I should ask BAA if there's an easier way of abstracting data, to get a fuller picture of the current load and distribution ... Perhaps one of the campaigning groups has already been down that route ... I remember inbound flights in the mid-70s going over Kew up to every 90 seconds. From Wimbledon Common nowadays, you can see them slipping into a stream with just a minute's separation.

You can see at least the previous day's flights charted at http://lhr.webtrak-lochard.com/ , at up to 10x real-time. Selecting Lewisham gives you a map showing the ED area. Here are the ones appearing 03:55-05:30 on Sunday 9/11. I've listed time, height in feet, transit point, and approx bearing. None of these early flight tags included a flight number. The Avondale Rise ones tend to be just north of AR and of the top of Dog Kennel Hill. The 05:00 one is probably on another, more southerly, main westbound path that we sometimes notice over ED. The ones going over the Dulwich park area were coming from the SE. When I looked at some daytime paths, there was another very steady stream filtering in just north of Camberwell Green. I wonder if both the Camberwell and Avondale streams are shifted south in some wind conditions, giving us the stream over the LL/EDGrove junction. 4:30 4500 Avondale Rise 270 4:33 4400 Avondale 270 4:36 4400 Avondale 270 4:39 4300 Avondale 270 4:42 4200 Court Lane 285 4:51 4100 Burbage Rd 295 4:57 3700 Avondale Rise almost due west 5:00 3200 Jn, LL + ED Grove ~ 275 5:03 3800 Avondale 270 5:05 4500 Avondale 270 5:09 4500 Avondale 270 5:13 4000 Avondale 270 5:16 3900 Avondale 270 5:19 4500 Avondale 270 5:22 4300 Avondale 270 5:30 4400 Just s of Avondale ~ 270 Cor, this don't half beat collecting train numbers. [Edit: addendum: note that the site seeks to log only Heathrow flights; any others will be incidental extras]
