What?s your point? Oh yeah, you?ve not heard of it before, I see. Well there you go, whatever next?!
  2. Stupid thread, not on the deaths , but the premise Following this logic we?d have ?News? on just about anything and anybody Breaking News: Ted Boark died this week, after he planted a dozen cabbages on his allotment he complained of ?feeling unwell? says Mrs Nora Boark. Ted died shortly after his dinner. See, it?s not exactly ?newsworthy? is it. It?s unfortunate I grant you, but it?s nothing that Mrs Boark couldn?t inform her nearest and dearest of herself. Whereas, Eddie Large being of national interest in that the was considered ?well known? warrants a ?news? story. Hence ?Well known comedian Eddie Large died today? on the national news See how it works? Next?!
  3. Best wishes to him, I hope he recovers fully It must be a worrying time for him and his now pregnant partner, I feel for them.
  4. Well done Foxy I?ve just started to learn how to make sourdough bread. I?m currently making the ?Mother? starter. It?s something I?ve always wanted to do. If you?re on Instagram then follow @brickhousebread https://instagram.com/brickhousebread?igshid=1qrcqlgqbvpgv The curry vid you posted looks 👍🏽
  5. We?re in a calmer position right now, but I admit it has been challenging. We had an appointment at Penbury hospital in Kent a couple of days ago, they asked how we we?re feeling and gave us a chance to chat through the situation. They we?re very reassuring on the measures and the risks being taken. They talked us through their CV19 protocol and procedures and many other things, we left feeling way better and with an enhanced feeling of admiration for the NHS staff. I wouldn?t on reflection take a private test even if it were available, but I would like to know in the future if we?ve had the infection and we?re showing antibodies, like many others would too. I?ve also had correspondence with a NHS consultant which has been reassuring and helpful with advice on asthma and staying well. In short I don?t regret asking these questions, it?s been helpful to explore what?s possible and what informed people have to say. It?s all gone a long way to making the best of this situation we find ourselves in. Lastly a nod to the Forum creators, it?s a wonderful thing and thank you.
  6. I?m currently hunkered down in Seven Oaks in Kent, as I?ve given my flat over to my eldest son who?s asthmatic. And me and my girlfriend are expecting a baby in a couple of weeks, and we?re settled here instead of London for the foreseeable future. There is a correlation between toilet paper and the pandemic. Sainsbury?s here seems to have located a strong supply of cauliflowers, broccoli and courgettes here in Kent, there?s whole isles of them. I like them all, but I?ve never eaten them 2-3 times a day for so long. I?ve also never used so much loo roll either 😅 On a positive note, I?m watching what I eat, not as a conscious weight loss diet, but as healthy choices by default. I?ve always done this at home, but my job is associated strongly with the restaurant trade and I?ve eaten out (at lunchtime mostly) for a long time, and whilst I?m conscious of not over indulging, it is easy to over eat or eat something less healthy on the menu. I?m sure the feeling I have of an overly extended weekend will pass. Getting up, fixing breakfast, thinking about lunch and dinner. It does remind me of a friend who when pressed about living with his elderly parents, he commented ? at breakfast they talk about lunch, at lunch they talk about dinner? which I?m starting to get a sense of. But all of this is an chance to review and change some of the things I?d personally taken for granted. I?m not sure what will be left of the restaurant industry when we return to whatever ?normal? is. But I know like many of us, this period will have a lasting effect, and I hope to take some good out of an otherwise difficult and challenging situation. I?ve said this to my children and friends ?at least we?re not being bombed? and we will get through this. And with a greater knowledge of just how much bog roll one person really needs. As a measure, I think piled up we could fill 1/3rd of a doorway with ours, that?s more than plenty and I?ll keep that picture in my mind before I (as I did last week) literally dive into the pallet of toilet roll in a deserted isle at Sainsbury?s, walking away with two multi packs, feeling slightly bonkers and mentally asking myself ?WTF are you thinking?!?
  7. Many people are buying a weekend worth of shopping each time they go. Think about it, 3 meals a day x however many people in the house. It is calming down tho, shops seem less stripped out and if you?re creative there?s something to eat even when it looks sparse. But I suspect we?re also buying ?just in case? food, for when and if the shops close and we?re fearful of starvation (we won?t starve, but they may have run out of our favourite pasta shape). I must say tho, in my house we?re not wasting anything, which I couldn?t hand on heart say before. Everything gets eaten and I can see familiar patterns coming back that I used to apply when the children were young, a natural thrifty use of produce and ingredients, which i had let slip a bit with the ?super busy? life I?d been living. It?s a reflective time as much as a challenging one.

  9. If I was able to sit it out and stay at home, I would. But I?m cautious about going to hospital with my partner and not knowing, I?d hate to have it, showing no symptoms and then finding out i?m a carrier spreading the virus unwittingly. Worse still, give it to our newborn. Does anyone know if they routinely test people going into hospital? Sure I want tests to go to front line staff, health workers and such likes. But are we that low on supplies that purchase the test will make a material difference? I?m open to conversation, but please withhold judgement on morality on this one. I?m not wealthy, but if spending money elsewhere alleviates pressure on the NHS, then I?ll consider it.
  10. God blimey, I never even thought of this. More reasons to adjust your day. I find I?m in and around home mostly during the day, with a last minute foray out to the shops (if absolutely required) to avoid pretty much anyone. Now ?vapers? are added to avoid list.
  11. How do you go about getting tested for Covid-19 if it?s at all possible? I feel well with none of the symptoms described. But, I?m in a vulnerable group and so is my partner (it?s hard to actually admit this to yourself I find, but we are), I?m asthmatic and my partner is pregnant, our baby is due in 2 weeks. We?ve been self-isolating carefully down in our place in Kent, my son has moved into my flat in E.D on his own, as he?s also asthmatic and wants to be cautious not to be at his Mums house where other siblings live too. I?d pay if that?s what it takes, I don?t want to burden an already under pressure NHS if that was the case. But I do want to know if I?m clear or have had the virus. Is that possible, has anyone done this ?

  13. I?ve just seen that Chiltern Fire House have closed up, done, project over. That is quite a shock, they were well financed. This situation is going to be brutal on the hospitality industry. I heard many people assuming they?ll be back to work in 8 weeks, then I?ve heard we?re in for at least 3 months, and then some. There?s very few, if any I know of in the industry that will survive that scale of business deescalation.
  14. Uncle Grim I didn?t vote Labour, I?m not a leftie or a commie. Tho we do know your politics loud and clear. And my post isn?t about politics, left or right, it?s about competence, and those in charge for this aren?t up to it. To much fckn around trying to bend and curve their empty talk to sound like promise and thoughtful leadership, but when pressed on the detail and meaning, they?re lacking, badly. Thanks for your input, I know it?s uncomfortable reading for those who voted Johnson and his cabal into power. I?m more of a Rory Stuart thinker myself, I like him best out of that group of ?conservative? politicians.
  15. If you?re in the at risk group, is there any way to be tested?
  16. Challenging times
  17. Take away is one option, some are also ding off licensed sales. But it?s not possible in many places. Festivals for this year are over, I?ve spoken to many that will announce this soon. Big upsurge in retail shopping tho, butchers and bakers etc, which is good for them. One or two I know said it?s like Christmas again.
  18. I know many of us have had to change or adapt our work lives. But do you run your own business, and how?s it been effected by the current situation? Briefly, my business supplies the restaurant and festival industry, which now fundamentally doesn?t exist anymore. We?ve seen a slide of 50% week on week, with this week going down to around 10% of sales to that sector. We do mail order and that?s grown, but nothing like enough to fill in for what we?re down on. I had around 20 staff full and part time, with contractors in the mix. We?re now down to 3 + a couple of contractors. And the future looks unlikely to offer much of anything, other than less than this. I?m not blaming anyone, it?s impossible to mitigate for a global pandemic. But it?s also not the greatest place we?ve ever been in. And I see many of my clients have shut up shop permanently already, with years of graft and grind over in a very short time. In all of I don?t feel sorry for myself, as such, I?m in the numb stage right now, but it?s devastated our team, badly. I?ve got my hands up with ?I didn?t see this coming? written on my t-shirt. What?s next? I really don?t the f*ck know. What?s your experience so far?
  19. What do we expect from a man who?s lied through his teeth in every job he?s been in, then he gets voted in as the ?get things done? leader of the country. We?re being led by a team of ministers and a party that supported the lies, so it?s unlikely they?re going to change their tactics now. In short they care little for telling the truth, because the truth is almost unbelievable in this case. They?ve cut and slashed the arse out of the NHS for years, underfunded it, undersupplied it too. And it?s now becoming glaringly apparent in the worst case possible situation. The gamble they?ve been playing for political gain has backfired. We ?the people? will take the brunt of it. Johnson, who?s so wanted to to take the glory of leadership is now facing the unvarnished and unspun truth of it all. Look at his face now, it?s harrowed and haunted, though we?re not even in the most perilous ?thick of it? yet. I?d not expect too much of most of the people in charge, they?re conducting a self interested arse covering excercise as much as a COVID-19 management plan. Information will be drip fed, leaked in, revealed by journalists I reckon. The current government won?t be the source of all the information we need I fear. However, in times like this the EDF comes into its own. It?s good to be able to ask and discuss with people, the questions we have and look for some of the answers we might need. People on here are generally good hearted and generous. There?s a few weirdos, but we like it like that. Thank you to the EDF 👍🏽
  20. New (Mad Scientist as I like to call it) Scientist this month has a pretty in depth coverage of all you might need or want to know on the subject. Last month it had the word Zoonotic in there, which if never heard until then. I also morbidly thought ?what if that?s the last new word I ever learned
  21. Also wash down with Patio Cleaner from a builders merchant Careful tho, it?s acid but does the job
  22. There?s an anti slip treatment you can put on. Try Universal Sealants or Slip Doctors
  23. Boris swerves the nappy changing question. Is there anything this man gives a straight and true answer on? In a savage dig, cheeky Phillip Schofield asked: "Is that it? How good are you at changing nappies? You've had a lot of experience." The Prime Minister started stumbling over his words, stating: "I'm not going to...well...I'm not...I'm not going to...obviously." When Holly told Mr Johnson to give it a go as part of the experience, he replied: "I expect so."
  24. I was thinking, maybe Prince Andrew might announce he?s pregnant I know it?s a long shot, but this with a bit of airbrushing of his past could turn his life around. Add to that a cover on HELLO WTF magazine, with Andy and his new baby bump. A few years ago it?d be a ludicrous idea, but it could work now in this day and age of diversity and tolerance.
  25. Cynicism aside, it?s a new life in the world and Ms Symonds deserves to have her pregnancy respected. But Boris hasn?t the greatest rep regarding his record for sticking in there as a parent, but this time might be different. Plus he?s 55 now, so maybe he?s matured enough to see this one through. Maybe maybe
