  1. If one is a believer in the benefits of brexit. Short term disruption is a price worth paying. The short term seems to be the main focus of the remainiacs because it confirms to them that brexit is bad. Certainly, this government has made a hash of the exit. But short term disruption aside....it will be nice to explore the potential upside of what the country voted for at least 3 times.....
  2. I think we need to disaggregate BLM from black people and racism as a whole. I dont know the thoughts of the people that booed, but criticism of BLM should not be assumed as racism. https://www.spiked-online.com/2020/12/08/blm-has-set-anti-racism-back-decades/
  3. Guys....we all know your brexit persuasion...but be careful not to veer into criticism just because you you don't like him. His Tie isn't straight? And yes, I would have said the same thing to people criticising corbyn.
  4. what exactly is your problem with this picture?
  5. So, apparently, the future of Britain?s relationship with the rest of Europe will hang on the success of a dinner tonight between Boris Johnson and Ursula von der Leyen......lets hope they're not having fish....

Come on KK, you know that if someone says anything that might possibly, maybe, on the off chance, be slightly less than perfectly worded, its an undeniable sign that they are a card carrying rascist....and should jobless and marched naked through the streets at once. This is the EDF....judge first...ask questions later:)
  7. I hate to tell you, but if you've got a mouse regularly coming out while there's light and noise in the room, its unlikely you've got just one mouse in your home.....

FACT - I totally agree with your first two FACTS, and (FACT) said as much above. I've never said that brexit makes it legally possible where it wasnt before - quite the opposite inFACT. If you actually read what I've written instead of reacting indignantly to what you ASSUME i mean based on what some politicans have said, you'll see i've talked about Brexit making it politically palatable to make the decision you refer to. Hence Brexit is responsible on that basis - I seriously question whether we would be willing to break with the EMA/EU sychronised approval if there was no Brexit (that is an opinion, rather than a fact, but I think we are all still allowed those, even if they differ from your own) I guess rule number three is to try and misrepresent and beltittle any views which run counter to your narrative.

Rule number 1 of being a remainer on the EDF.....never, ever admit there may be the finest thread of truth to anything remotely positive said about brexit....

It's 100 percent about brexit. As you state....The mechanism is available through the EMA for any country to do this. But guess what?...none of them have...because no-one wants to do it out of step with the other EU nations, becuase of political pressure within the EU. But...Becuase of the fact that we will be out from the EMA jurisdiction in 1 month, we not subject to that same political pressure, and are willing to utilise this avenue where others are not. So, it's all about brexit. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/did-brexit-lead-to-the-uk-s-vaccine-success-
  14. For the 'tell me just ONE benefit of Brexit' crowd.... How about approval of a vaccine for Covid probably at least a month before the EU? Yes the govt have made many many mistakes But perhaps we can be pleased at one decision that they have got right. I await the retraction of the attacks on govt from the Lib Dems in June when the UK didn't join the EU vaccine programme....https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/10/uk-poised-to-shun-eu-coronavirus-vaccine-scheme#:~:text=The%20UK's%20decision%20not%20to,be%20participating%20in%20the%20scheme.
  15. It's not really 'interesting' at all that I 'fail' to mention the latter at all. Your thinly veiled dig is really quite unnecessary. True to form, you once again are implying that you know the minds of other posters, which clearly you don't. Sorry, I hadn't heard about the Laurence Fox thing until I saw your handy link. Now that I have, I don't think Rita Ora's lame 'apology' changes anything (she only apologised, becuase she got caught). Fox was never going to apologise, becuase he was the one who dobbed himself in, as he tweeted about it himself to make a cheap political point. By the sounds of it, they're both massive, entitled tw@ts.
  16. I can accept that parents walking their kids to the same classroom are going to interact, or that there are groups of people in the park with more than the allowed number of households (and not at the correct distance). I can even shrug my shoulders when someone nips into a shop without a mask, or when we see groups of people gathered outside a cafe sipping takeaway coffees.... These are example of normal people (for the most part probably adhering to rules) cutting some small corners sometimes. Surely anyone but the most stringent lockdown zealot knows these sort of things are going to inevitably happen..... BUT......the sense of entitlement required to organise a 'spur of the moment' birthday party for yourself with more than 30 people in a restaurant???.....quite breathtaking really.....(no pun intended).... https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/nov/30/rita-ora-throws-birthday-party-london-restaurant-covid-lockdown
  17. I think Priti adheres to Ronan's philosophy....
  18. Perhaps we could be quietly pleased that Southwark has the lowest infection rate in London? With about 0.1% of the population infected in this borough. Not saying we should relax or 'celebrate' (people have dies after all)...but perhaps not use this thread as yet another opportunity to curtain-twitch and point fingers....
  19. I blame Brexit,Trump, fireworks being set off an antisocial times, local road closures which create traffic chaos and men skipping on the pavement.... But back to the topic at hand....at the risk of generalizing...the British do get off on talking about the weather and weather forecasting. Smugly as its said, growing up in Australia, we never really worried too much about the weather forecast, as invariably it was 'fine'....but the resident Brit in my house (Mrs Cat) usually checks the weather 3 times before breakfast....

  21. Sephiroth Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > repeat after me: > > "a general election is nothing like a referendum" A national presidential election with only two realistic choices? nothing like each other?.....thats' a stretch.... Anyway....the comment isnt trying to prove legal precedence in a court of law that the two situations are the same...its a wry observation that when a side loses they will inevitably question the rules and validity of the contest to deal with the loss....simmer down.....
  22. I regretfully acknowledge this might rile up some of our Remain supporting friends on the EDF, its not personal or meant to be too serious....but it did give me a slight chuckle..... From Brendan O'Neill..... "The liberal elite in the UK is shocked ? shocked, I tell you ? that Donald Trump is refusing to concede defeat in the presidential election. There?s even talk of him taking the election to court. And he?s stirring up mobs of people to protest against the vote on the basis that it is fraudulent, illegitimate, a stitch-up by faceless forces in the establishment, etc etc. What kind of person behaves in such a shamelessly undemocratic fashion, these pearl-clutching Brits want to know? Well, there?s an easy answer to that question: you. You behave like this. You spent the past four years doing what Trump is now doing, only in an even more unhinged way. You went to court, took to the streets, and went berserk on Twitter on a daily basis as part of a hateful crusade to overthrow the largest democratic vote in the history of our country: the vote for Brexit. So perhaps wind your necks in, yes?"

Where is the easiest place to buy fireworks around here given the desire to avoid supermarkets at the moment?

  25. Anyway...the collective EDF should stop worrying about people voting for Trump.....so far 60,000 americans have voted for Kanye West....
