  1. They've got enblazened in large black lettering over the scaffolding boards outside the shop front ... 'The White Stuff has landed, there goes the neighbourhood!'...nothing like a quite entrance into LL is there?!
  2. ....they've arrived alright, and they're telling us loud and clear.
  3. who else is 'new' on this site then......?
  4. Still haven't made it to an EDF drink up yet. By the sounds of it you all know/have met each other in the past a few times, and as a 'newie' it may be a little daunting for me......::o
  5. Another boozer I've avoided is the Uplands......I also think the Seepy Tee could do with a face lift (don't panic, I don't mean gastro refurb type thing!!) just a lick of paint and the change those bloody curtains!!!
  6. ah yes thank you Keep...still very odd goings on. Prehaps they could try and find the person/s who have held up some of the ED businesses of late....instead of hanging about on roof tops...
  7. Well I may have caught it on a bad day. I drink wine. That is not the pub to go into if you want a glass of wine.
  8. back on thread...the FHT will take time to get some atmosphere in there. Bit new and smelling of paint at the mo, but it'll find it's feet and the kithen opens this weekend with a brand new menu!
  9. Dont' ever go to the Page 2, have I ever mentioned THAT?
  10. I was just feeding back what the owners of the new 'dull and lifeless' FHT have said about it. They have had to bar alot of the 'locals'.....for the drug dealing offences. And yes p*ssheads in pubs are welcome, but not the type who sware non stop and glare at you if you walk within a certain radius of 'their' table....there's drunk and there's drunk.....
  11. Louisa If you think clearing out the drug dealing p*ss heads that used to regularly deal/brawl in the FHT, is going to make the place dull and lifeless.....I'd sure hate to drink in any boozer you actually liked!!!!
  12. What's wrong with owls....?
  13. oooh don't know. I do know that I had a bit of a panic last night when in bed. There was a strange shadow outside the window and I kept imagining this crash helmet and murky body rising up from the window sill. (I have an overactive imaginiation that annoys the hell out of MrMW74!!)...I did see another yellow board on the way home last night more or less at the bottom of my road, for yet another armed robbery...that's what? the fourth in the area recently??
  14. Chantoozie I posted a thread on the other 'New Look Forest Hill Teavern'....as there are two...and said what a pleasant evening Mr Madworld74 and I had last Sunday. After you left, the bar staff whacked the entire album of Keane on, which after the jazz was a bit of a let down! Never the less, you brought some class to a new look boozer, and hopefully you will bring in some new punters.
  15. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't a similar occurance happened in the area recently? I'm sure I've hard about someone being 'watched' by a 'person' in a crash helmet, standing outside their window, before? Really creepy.
  16. Yes, I imagine you are right. We are the nasty infiltrators with our smug boutique shops. Bad us!
  17. Louisa, Why are you living in ED when you seem to slate it so much....?
  18. I would like to say to Chantoozie, "Well done for the gig on Sunday night". Mr Madworld74 and I, were there and we loved the place and the music. Infact Louisa, before you pass judgment on something you obviously have no idea about, why don't you go into the pub and see for yourslef. Even better, why don't you do as Mr MW74 and I did, and speak to the proprietors; Kevin and Ann, who were there Sunday night welcoming all into the new style pub. We spoke to them for some time about what the 'old' pub used to be like and their reasons for re-vamping it. They came across as people who cared about the building, had a wish to fill a gap in the market and smarten up the place by getting rid of the drugs and violence that used to haunt the 'old' FHT. Infact, they said the place was in danger of being shut down because of all the trouble. I wish them well! and Chantoozie, the jazz on a Sunday night coould go down very well as a regular thing.
  19. Sounds like a damn good alternative to my local The Herne, that I have unfortauntly had a bl**dy nuff of. I think I will pop up over the bank hol and have a look/glass of something....
  20. Mockney Piers wrote >I thought we worked out that prams in the 'olden days' were double the size of your modern ones.... MPiers, yes they were in the Victorian era. But I suspect LL didn't back then cater for mums who lunch. Anyway...on with the coffee shop thread.
  21. Was I ever a baby? um....I think I was brought in from outer space. As it happens.
  22. I was a baby, Asset. But my mummy didn't clog up the high street with my huge oversized pram. Nore did she travel en masse with lots of other mummies up and down the high street. I love the ED babies. Just not when their mummies/ daddies/ nannys crash their 4 x4 style strollers into me. :)
  23. We'll send one over Tazzi, complete with the mums and babies, God knows on a Saturday in LL it's a health hazzard to even think of walking on the pavement with all the wheels about.
  24. A baby/mummy free coffee house would be appreciated......... OHHH!!! I can hear the Dulwich Mum's seathing with anger and indignation already at that comment MD74......brace yourself for the backlash!
  25. but all Poms ARE pasty and white and don't wash often, Parker's Folly, that's what makes us GREAT Britain!!!!...... please do not get uptight...it's a little light relief.
