  1. WOW… Money and politics talk… Belair House has been a lost cause for years - surprised it has survived as c long as it has….but, if rumours over the years are true, “foreign money” … Most people these days in the village and surrounding area and let’s face it, either have inherited house, invested for own wealth or bought to be in catchment area for schooling both private or state, left to go abroad and rented, or bought by actors, sold to Russians etc.. Local knowledge years ago what was happening -
  2. No one wants to earn some cash? Now needed from 2nd thru to 7th. Plenty on air b n b - just fed up with paying their cleaning charges!! Final attempt or will just use them. I am clean, tidy and will generally be out most of the day…
  3. Dulwich folk well particularly ED folk have more money than certainly me - £4.00 for bread and butter? That is outrageous and I certainly would not pay £30 for an organic chicken - weird one is pate and runner beans combo. Don’t think butcher on Lordship Lane charges that but each to their own - live in Devon now and no way is an organic chicken that price!!
  4. Wow - you really mean £30.00 for a takeaway chicken? Dulwich folk have more money than me! As a matter of interest, what do you get?
  5. Well at least if he is in good health, will be with us for a long while. Seems to be a forward thinker as well - encompassing religion and universal challenges. Personally, wish him all the best.
  6. Hi, Coming to London first week of Sept and was wondering if anyone has a room until Sunday of that week? PM if you feel you can help. Visiting so will be out during the day generally. Thanks and enjoy VE celebrations.
  7. Garage in West Dulwich by Rosendale Pub - been using them for years. Highly recommend them for all cars. Reliable and honest and will point you in the right direction if they can’t help. Were great with my VW.
  8. Leave it white then new people can paint to their taste - that is why in show properties, they are white throughout or neutral. Def no feature wall. Might consider a lump sum for flooring as opposed to going grey. Ideally no curtains at all but if you wish then maybe blinds in lounge and bedroom.
  9. Hi, My automatic nissan juke, much to my shock, having only done 50,000 miles needs a new gear box. Trying to decide to replace gear box or buy a second hand car - always thought Japanese cars were reliable and guess I have just been unlucky. Any advice greatly received - to buy a second hand car or replace gear box. If buying second hand would one suggest dealership or private garage ?? Thank you.
  10. Surely they must be rated every couple of years? No idea why people stay with them but so be it. Plenty of alternatives locally so choose - stay or go.. Simple..
  11. Thanks - going to drop the whole thing now…& put it down to a bad experience.
  12. Thanks…..still convinced I can get my rent back - not vindictive person but no one treats me this way & gets away with it. Will teach them a good lesson if they get a fine - well two really - much rater have rent back. Yes, will be taking pix - already have one for mould in bedroom - now removed.
  13. Thank you both. Inexperience Landlord trying to save a few pennies - hence no agent involved. The issue is the fact that it is my understanding that without an EPC that is current then they should not have rented the property - far more to the point and taken rent from me. They commissioned an EPC 4 weeks & I am still waiting for or a copy!!! No gas in property. Well I guess it will be a case of instructing solicitors which I have tried to avoid doing but as they are not responding at all, I have no choice. If I am correct about EPC then it will cost them alot more than refunding me my rent.
  14. Change practice - they were awful 2 years ago…
  15. Hello lovely people, In need of some help please… My landlord has rented a property to me without an EPC.. my understanding is that is illegal. Have asked several times, in last three months and still not forthcoming. Have asked again plus now leaving at the end of the month & ignoring me totally - even to take meter readings & hand keys back!!! I really don’t want to go to court either but not sure as it is a private let whether I can go for mediation. Deposit was lodged via under govt scheme - 60 days later but at least lodged. No inventory on signing either so, not going to pay for anything either.. Could I bring in local councillor? For advice? Thanks and have a good weekend.
  16. I no longer live in East Dulwich - would have thought that as so many of you use dog walkers, they might be able to offer advice or local vet
  17. Thought is was hospice policy not to reduce anything if asked - ie only hospice can decide if they will reduce items in shops not client
  18. Try going to their West Dulwich branch - certainly not cheap either but bear in mind that this does fund one hopes, or my understanding the hospice.. Charity Shops use to get reduced rent - no idea if this is still the case. if you want bargains then go to Bromley High Street - plenty of charity hops there and once in a while BHF have a week long promotion where literally everything in shop is £1.00.
  19. Must be someone who can help - never heard that RSPCA would not come out for a dog in distress and even worse that from what I have read or gathered this has been going one for abit… guess it is a question of passing the buck and I thought ED were a dog friendly community. Surely one of you who have commented could have asked for advice from vet in Lordship Lane or even picked up the phone and called them…
  20. Try Saga and Age Concern for recommendations. Google - plenty of companies out there - some banks I believe offer travel insurance as do credit cards. If you have health insurance they might be able to help or try that avenue - actually thinking about it as I am of a similar age, with various health conditions when I went to USA pre Covid for a month - was around £400/500 but that was yearly - so guess if there are two of you, maybe it is correct. I use to when I travelled to USA cover my self to the hilt as well as repatriation to UK if I got too ill.
  21. Wasn’t some respected person in the community attacked and subsequently died by a dog of similar breed a few months ago? Not saying same dog. Take a photo next time if you can. All dogs need exercise - lead walking would not be, I think enough for this breed.
  22. Recently on radio 4, there was talk/program discussing dentist and how difficult it is to access a dentist period in all parts of UK. Tonight, on tv there was a brief topic about young children under the age of 6 going, I think to A & E to get their teeth extracted - think it was on bbc1. On radio 4 along the same lines of difficulty accessing dentists be it private or non private - I believe that hygienists or the likes are now going into schools to encourage/teach children to brush their teeth. I believe they even provide toothpaste and brushes. My question is why can’t or won’t parents deal with it themselves? Surely it must be a parental responsibility? Or are teachers now going to be expected to assist with this as well as educate them.
  23. Not sure if this is allowed, if not then please delete. My dentist practice in west wickham is accepting nhs patients. Knowing how difficult it is to find one, thought I would share. PM for further info…
  24. Try air b n b and open rent if you have no joy here
