Thought is was hospice policy not to reduce anything if asked - ie only hospice can decide if they will reduce items in shops not client -
New Shops in East Dulwich and Nearby - 2025 Edition
beansprout replied to Joe's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Try going to their West Dulwich branch - certainly not cheap either but bear in mind that this does fund one hopes, or my understanding the hospice.. Charity Shops use to get reduced rent - no idea if this is still the case. if you want bargains then go to Bromley High Street - plenty of charity hops there and once in a while BHF have a week long promotion where literally everything in shop is £1.00. -
Must be someone who can help - never heard that RSPCA would not come out for a dog in distress and even worse that from what I have read or gathered this has been going one for abit… guess it is a question of passing the buck and I thought ED were a dog friendly community. Surely one of you who have commented could have asked for advice from vet in Lordship Lane or even picked up the phone and called them…

Travel Insurance for Australia with medical condition??
beansprout replied to LibbyGreen's topic in The Lounge
Try Saga and Age Concern for recommendations. Google - plenty of companies out there - some banks I believe offer travel insurance as do credit cards. If you have health insurance they might be able to help or try that avenue - actually thinking about it as I am of a similar age, with various health conditions when I went to USA pre Covid for a month - was around £400/500 but that was yearly - so guess if there are two of you, maybe it is correct. I use to when I travelled to USA cover my self to the hilt as well as repatriation to UK if I got too ill. -
XL Bullydog Crescent Wood Road / Sydenham Woods
beansprout replied to wabisabi's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Wasn’t some respected person in the community attacked and subsequently died by a dog of similar breed a few months ago? Not saying same dog. Take a photo next time if you can. All dogs need exercise - lead walking would not be, I think enough for this breed. -
Recently on radio 4, there was talk/program discussing dentist and how difficult it is to access a dentist period in all parts of UK. Tonight, on tv there was a brief topic about young children under the age of 6 going, I think to A & E to get their teeth extracted - think it was on bbc1. On radio 4 along the same lines of difficulty accessing dentists be it private or non private - I believe that hygienists or the likes are now going into schools to encourage/teach children to brush their teeth. I believe they even provide toothpaste and brushes. My question is why can’t or won’t parents deal with it themselves? Surely it must be a parental responsibility? Or are teachers now going to be expected to assist with this as well as educate them.

Not sure if this is allowed, if not then please delete. My dentist practice in west wickham is accepting nhs patients. Knowing how difficult it is to find one, thought I would share. PM for further info…

Love Dulwich rebranding as Turkish Restaurant
beansprout replied to Angell34's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hope not - personally think they are one of the best cafe around. Maybe it is going to be a combination of cafe in day and Turkish at night - now that would be good. Since I have moved and only come up a couple of times a year, will be following. when I was there recently, they were getting into instagram, Facebook etc so hoping that not closing. Food freshly cooked and staff so nice - nothing too much trouble. A couple of the chains could learn from them - one in particular which shall remain nameless. -
Derelict Grove Tavern - who to contact?
beansprout replied to Dean Connell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
At the end of the day, whilst these youngsters have been enterprising presumably with adult help & I also assume no local youth group - the fact remains that it is a prime site fir redevelopment be it a supermarket - Aldi, Lidel whatever or social housing which, let’s be honest here lots of people need. Know Idea why has been derelict gor do long anyhow, but somewhere on this site I think there is a problem with who owns it. And let’s not forget the homeless man who slept there - Front on Lordship Lane who had his home destroyed by I assume vandals a couple of years ago. -
South Circular roadworks - excessive disruption
beansprout replied to Penguin68's topic in Roads & Transport
Why on earth is it going to take 3.5 months? Other countries do it much faster - what is wrong with this country? Unless of course underlying problems - potential sink hole being one…the inconvenience caused to all - wonder if working at weekend would speed it up & at night.. -

Estate Agents - recommendations/avoid?
beansprout replied to hazysunshine's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Was impressed with sales manager/director at Winkworths… Why don’t you do it yourself? Plenty of people looking - most I hope not time wasters… Guess you want the reassurance of agent checking buyers out or simply don’t have the time. Wish you all the best.. -
Yes—- not phone at all - got that checked out last week. is an id issue— works for you… just drop it now - you are really like a dog with a bone..!! Oh, asked for another sim las year - as refused.. Tried again this year and never received it…

In my case, internet doesn’t work even in London, incoming cals disconnect b4 u can even pick up calls! Reinstalled ap & now even worse! Can however, access where I am regarding billing etc. Been with them 4 for years - been bad for over a year.. blamed my phone etc- lucky for me, can just change & leave, hopefully without any delay as only SIM pay as you go… Must be just unlucky….. would not recommend them now to anyone - if all else fails will just very very reluctantly ho to one of the big 4 & take a contract, which seems to have to be 4 two years or just might decide to not have a phone at all..

Sue, Southbank in London - you must know this and I don’t need to spell it out to you - must be having brain fog…. Libra I believe piggy backs off Three. if you go on ID website, you can see numerous people complaint about service anyway it is a dead subject now as I am leaving them having been with them for over 7 years
-
Use AA website - even tells you how far car of your choice is….
-
Yes they piggy back off three - found a number to actually speak to them. We’re not fussed I was leaving, said they were having problems. Really is ridiculous - have worse reception in London than Devon - doesn’t connect at all now and I am along Southbank way. Calls keep being disconnected. Sadly, I am done with them - overcharged me for one month and not refunding. Going to Libra - not possible to be as bad as ID - literally been going on for months and as they admitted last year to me when I was having problems with their ap “ yes, we have been experiencing problems”!,

New Shops in East Dulwich and Nearby - 2025 Edition
beansprout replied to Joe's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Love Dulwich must be included. Another lovely meal, freshly cooked. Use to always support other places on the lane but quite a few of them din’t reach even the basic mark of freshly cooked food. Guess will see the likes of Megans closing - staff retention is zero & cooks change regularly. Hate chains, but that is personal. Hopefully Jonnies will remain - since people who use them, have been using them for years and generations. -
Never had a problem with Poundland - good selection of stock and shop is clean. I have always found staff helpful, pleasant and go out of their way to try and help. one in Barnstaple in Devon is I believe closing down- shop is not laid out as well, cramped and not a pleasant experience. Sure there is going to be major complaints when it closes. if the shop closes in East Dulwich, without doubt local community will complain - not everyone can afford prices that other shops charge.

Having just returned briefly to the area, just had to recommend this cafe. Had an excellent breakfast at the same cost as any other cafe in East Dulwich - and not as good.. Light and bright with attentive staff. Nothing to much trouble. Tables well spaced and attention paid to cleanliness. Child friendly with a separate menu for them. A comprehensive food menu with the usual alcoholic drinks plus cocktails. Will certainly be back - long may they remain. A great addition to the area. Opening hours Mon - Sun 8.45 - 5.00

Been with them for years but over the last year, service has really dropped. Can’t load or access site and having finally found a contact number for them, have confirmed that for months now they have had internet problems. Can’t even make calls on a regular basis. Didn’t even want to encourage me to stay! So sadly I am off. Been recommended Labara - looks good and I believe piggy backs off Vodaphone which can’t be as bad as Three. Any views? Tks.

Hello All, I will be driving to Devon and was wondering if anyone fancies a lift and to share petrol costs? Thanks

Advice on iPhone security and mobile company required
beansprout replied to beansprout's topic in The Lounge
Been with ID for years and thank you I do know how to access wi fi - and don’t have the problems I have been experiencing recently. Even asked a young person today on the train and they could not understand it either. No problem with my android phone at all - Well not to this level. As an example, would not connect ie my iPhone at Waterloo Station today - had various staff members try - result had to pay for a return ticket on top of what I had already paid out!! Sat in a Curry store, about 10 days ago and refused to move until they had sorted out the fact that ID had locked me out of the system. Did get it all sorted out and running via help from ID - they are an online company but Curry’s have, let’s call it a “hot line” to them. I have found a number as well on line - who knows if it works or not - I am classified as a vulnerable person, hate to have to use it as a way of getting a result. No joy what so ever at the Apple Shop - couldn’t even get them to book an apt for me at their tech team for the same day - was prepared to wait a couple of hours but no, come back following day at blah time and noI did not use my disability to get more help. Bus is fine, outside is patchy but so be it - just have to find a good spot, can connected to all free wi fi in Malls and pubs, cafe etc. Please give me the name of a reputable phone shop, if you have one. You seem to be having difficulties as well with your laptop/ computer etc My phone is only 2 /3 years old.. Thanks for your comments and replying.
