  1. I thought there was only one Dulwich Library and that is on Lordship Lane/ Court Lane. Is there another one? If so since when?
  2. You may have more success posting on ED facebook….personally, not a fan of social media but where I have moved to in the country, this seems to be the main way of communication. A suggestion for you - well a couple actually - there is a cafe at the edge if Telegraph Hill which might be worth a shot with a pizza stand attached - from memory think it is called White Rabbit or something like that. Cafe has odd evenings when they have music as well. Not sure if you are to young but give them a go. Get some leaflets/cards done and pop through letterbox or on car windscreen in local area offering your services to clean cars… sure you have done this already. Wish you all the best.
  3. Thank you so much for this - really appreciate it.
  4. Can anyone tell me please, do they have a variety of veggie options or fish? thank you in advance - moved, so just wanted to check & menu is not big enough for me to enlarge or read.. think they do..
  5. Plenty of places offering these games..google for venues, or amazon or charity shops.. enough of them on Lordship Lane..
  6. Walking netball in Beckenham wasn’t either!!
  7. Kingswood Community have things going on… not sure for this age group.
  8. Chess is played at Plough - can’t remember which night but you can always go and ask. One guy is very good.
  9. Should have public liability by insurance, references from clients, years of experience, qualifications. If self employed, pension not your problem. On top of what you have mentioned. Hours of work? Day rate or hourly.
  10. Doubt you would have got much change out of £150.00 for battery and certainly having forked out for it, best to use your car. I recently sold my car via webuyanycar.com - very pleasant experience & was roughly what I was expecting. Pop your bangers reg jnto their website to get an idea of price - they do send e mails once a fortnight/month just as an aid for you. Easy enough to delete - don’t even have to read valuation. They literally buy any car - if you can’t get it to them, they will charge you to get it there or recommend a co that will do it for you. Must say, mine was a 2014 reg and whilst a bit suspicious, paid extra to get money into my account as needed it for next car but was assured funds had I not gone down route I took would be in my account within 5 days. I now live in the country - every time I have been back to Dulwich and surrounding area, normally get a fine for driving at wrong time or parking at wrong time so if I drive now, park in West or East Dulwich and do everything else by public transport and walking. Were I still to be living in ED then before I left was pondering this very issue but since I have been back regularly for health reason I no longer drive but take the train and then buses, walk or Uber. Much cheaper than running a car and had I stayed, that would have been the course I would have taken. I don’t go out everyday, have an allotment or job to go to or family so in my case, would be cheaper not to have a car. Was truely shocked at the cost of second hand cars…..but where I now live only has a smattering of buses so no choice but to have wheels to get from A to B etc.
  11. WOW… Money and politics talk… Belair House has been a lost cause for years - surprised it has survived as c long as it has….but, if rumours over the years are true, “foreign money” … Most people these days in the village and surrounding area and let’s face it, either have inherited house, invested for own wealth or bought to be in catchment area for schooling both private or state, left to go abroad and rented, or bought by actors, sold to Russians etc.. Local knowledge years ago what was happening -
  12. No one wants to earn some cash? Now needed from 2nd thru to 7th. Plenty on air b n b - just fed up with paying their cleaning charges!! Final attempt or will just use them. I am clean, tidy and will generally be out most of the day…
  13. Dulwich folk well particularly ED folk have more money than certainly me - £4.00 for bread and butter? That is outrageous and I certainly would not pay £30 for an organic chicken - weird one is pate and runner beans combo. Don’t think butcher on Lordship Lane charges that but each to their own - live in Devon now and no way is an organic chicken that price!!
  14. Wow - you really mean £30.00 for a takeaway chicken? Dulwich folk have more money than me! As a matter of interest, what do you get?
  15. Well at least if he is in good health, will be with us for a long while. Seems to be a forward thinker as well - encompassing religion and universal challenges. Personally, wish him all the best.
  16. Hi, Coming to London first week of Sept and was wondering if anyone has a room until Sunday of that week? PM if you feel you can help. Visiting so will be out during the day generally. Thanks and enjoy VE celebrations.
  17. Garage in West Dulwich by Rosendale Pub - been using them for years. Highly recommend them for all cars. Reliable and honest and will point you in the right direction if they can’t help. Were great with my VW.
  18. Leave it white then new people can paint to their taste - that is why in show properties, they are white throughout or neutral. Def no feature wall. Might consider a lump sum for flooring as opposed to going grey. Ideally no curtains at all but if you wish then maybe blinds in lounge and bedroom.
  19. Hi, My automatic nissan juke, much to my shock, having only done 50,000 miles needs a new gear box. Trying to decide to replace gear box or buy a second hand car - always thought Japanese cars were reliable and guess I have just been unlucky. Any advice greatly received - to buy a second hand car or replace gear box. If buying second hand would one suggest dealership or private garage ?? Thank you.
  20. Surely they must be rated every couple of years? No idea why people stay with them but so be it. Plenty of alternatives locally so choose - stay or go.. Simple..
  21. Thanks - going to drop the whole thing now…& put it down to a bad experience.
  22. Thanks…..still convinced I can get my rent back - not vindictive person but no one treats me this way & gets away with it. Will teach them a good lesson if they get a fine - well two really - much rater have rent back. Yes, will be taking pix - already have one for mould in bedroom - now removed.
  23. Thank you both. Inexperience Landlord trying to save a few pennies - hence no agent involved. The issue is the fact that it is my understanding that without an EPC that is current then they should not have rented the property - far more to the point and taken rent from me. They commissioned an EPC 4 weeks & I am still waiting for or a copy!!! No gas in property. Well I guess it will be a case of instructing solicitors which I have tried to avoid doing but as they are not responding at all, I have no choice. If I am correct about EPC then it will cost them alot more than refunding me my rent.
  24. Change practice - they were awful 2 years ago…
  25. Hello lovely people, In need of some help please… My landlord has rented a property to me without an EPC.. my understanding is that is illegal. Have asked several times, in last three months and still not forthcoming. Have asked again plus now leaving at the end of the month & ignoring me totally - even to take meter readings & hand keys back!!! I really don’t want to go to court either but not sure as it is a private let whether I can go for mediation. Deposit was lodged via under govt scheme - 60 days later but at least lodged. No inventory on signing either so, not going to pay for anything either.. Could I bring in local councillor? For advice? Thanks and have a good weekend.
