What happened to the Dulwich Ukulele Club?
SingingWilks posted a topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
As it says on the tin really! Really love this band but haven't heard of them in a while. Their last Facebook and Twitter posts were late last year and there's no upcoming gigs on their Myspace page. I miss them! -
Yes! Absolutely recommend Tony of The Loyalty Groomers. He's recently moved from Denmark Hill to Herne Hill and I think he does home visits but we always go to him. Lovely guy and really is very good with animals. Our Maine Coon cat always looks far less scruffy when he comes away. http://loyaltygroomers.co.uk/

Advice - Microchip Cat Flap Fitting?
SingingWilks replied to tomlinsons's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Hi tomlinsons. See my recommendation here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1371216,1371216#msg-1371216 -
The Palmerston has a new function room but I have absolutely no idea how big it is! Might be worth a look as their food is delicious.

Hi Dean I think you mean Bicycle Nation that's at North Cross Road market on a Saturday. I think they are also in the bike park place at Peckham Rye station. Here's their website: http://www.bicyclenation.co.uk/locations.html. There's also Balfe's bikes on East Dulwich Road: http://www.balfesbikes.co.uk/pages/balfes_se22.html SW

Cat People - How to stop other cats spraying in my house ?
SingingWilks replied to threadders's topic in The Lounge
Or there's Phil, he's great! I've recently put a recommendation for him on the forum. http://www.fourpawsdoors.co.uk/ -
Hi all I've just had Phil from Four Paws Doors round to fit a cat flap and wanted to recommend him. Thoroughly nice chap, reasonably priced, punctual and left the place clean and tidy. http://www.fourpawsdoors.co.uk/ T 020 8405 8771 M 07814 406 010 E [email protected] From a very happy cat!

Thoroughly agree lizw. We used them to pack and move us last week and they were great. We were recommended them by our old neighbour and would like to pass the recommendation on. Friendly chaps who made moving house a stress-free experience and were reasonably priced. Hooray for Roberts and Denny's!

Gary VU, electrician -- good experience -- recommended
SingingWilks replied to Alex K's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Gary did a brilliant job fixing a long term problem in our last flat, saving us a fortune because otherwise we'd have needed complete rewiring. Tarnlee and his partner by contrast couldn't fix it despite several attempts and several bills. I'd strongly suggest you address your own failings before criticising another professional like that, especially one as talented, capable and decent as Gary. -
And another vote for Mason and Green. On time, nice driver and car and only ?38 to Heathrow Terminal 5.

That great young Chinese electrician

Gary Vu? He's brilliant. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1263256,1287088#msg-1287088 -
Another recommendation for Balfe's. Friendly chaps who know their stuff without overselling. I know they sell Trek bikes and having been in there yesterday some of them are currently on sale. http://www.balfesbikes.co.uk/

Recommendation for Electrician Gary Vu
SingingWilks replied to Sherwick's topic in Request a Tradesperson
Wholeheartedly agree with the recommendations above - his honesty saved us a small fortune on what we thought would require a re-wiring job. Great guy. -
Bancroft Garden Design & Maintenance
SingingWilks replied to stepb3's topic in Request a Tradesperson
We recently had Stephen give our garden a much needed makeover and he was marvellous - friendly, reliable, reasonably priced, knew his stuff and gave great ideas (and even accommodated a tortoise patch!). We know have a beautiful garden. Highly recommended. -

How about the law schools - they run pro bono centres offering free legal advice which is great experience for their students. Below is the link to BPP's pro bono centre but I know the University of Law have one too, but I can only find the website from a student's perspective. http://www.bpp.com/university-college/l/probono-advice http://www.law.ac.uk/Our-Centres/London-Bloomsbury/Pro-bono/ Hope this helps.

Another recommendation for Balfe's. Bought a bike there recently and they were superb - friendly, knowledgeable and listened to what I wanted and in no way press ganged me into something I didn't want! Great guys, especially Richard (the boss) who we were mainly served by. http://www.balfesbikes.co.uk/pages/index.html

Agree Cle and thank you for reporting to TfL etc. 19:39 being the last service from Victoria is an absolute pain. If you could do something about it Renata you would have a lifetime of gratitude!

Another recommendation for Miguel/Rocks Hair. I normally go to Shingo at Kuki (who is also great) but he doesn't work Wednesdays (my day off this week) and was fully booked at the weekend and I really needed my haircut ASAP - it was a mess! Anyhow, Miguel was wonderful, listened to what I wanted, gave me the cut I wanted and recommended several ways of styling it. The cut is fantastic and I'm so pleased with it. It was a bit of a gamble as I went from mid-length hair to short hair but very happy I took the plunge. In answer to questions above, yes it is Miguel from Kuki and according to the price list I have in front of me it's ?50 for a full head colour.

Thank you so much all. We're off out now to explore.

Happy New Year everyone. Every year on here there's mention of a place people go to on NYE that's up a hill, has great views over the centre and you can see the fireworks, and has a great atmosphere! My use of the search function has proved fruitless so I wondered if you kind people had any idea of where I'm talking about. I think it's somewhere like Dawson's Heights or One Tree Hill (but equally could be any of the other great viewing points we're lucky enough to have around this area) but don't want to turn up at one and the celebrations are at the other! Many thanks.
