  1. Unless they are London Planes planted by the council in Lordship Lane in which case the usual concerns about trees next to foundations don't seem to apply!
  2. Surely resident permit holders can park at any time but what I don't understand is that if you can park for an hour during the restricted times how does that reduce parents driving to and from school to drop off and pick up children? Or was it that local residents didn't want school staff parking in the streets all day? And is this free but time restricted parking or will pay machines be installed? I'm confused.
  3. Well doesn't that just show that there are services being provided in the post office that people need. Where will those services be provided if there is no post office in Lordship Lane? And before someone says it's all old, IT illiterate people unnecessarily causing those queues, the people I saw in the queue last time I was in it, seemed to range mostly from 30 to 50ish. So let's chuck out the unhelpful stereotypes and stop making assumptions about why people using a service are needing to use it. It may not be a pleasant experience but I still assert that it is an essential service in Lordship Lane and ED will be worse off with no post office. A high street cannot survive on coffee shops, bars and expensive food shops and restaurants alone! https://www.change.org/p/save-lordship-lane-post-office
  4. If you're one of those people that uses the post office and creates those frustrating queues because you need to use it, for whatever reason, please sign the petition. If you work there and don't want to be made redundant, you could sign too. The others don't need to bother. https://www.change.org/p/save-lordship-lane-post-office
  5. Lordship Lane Post Office is on a list of post offices being considered for closure. Please sign the petition to try to prevent closure. It provides essential services , including an ATM, n East Dulwich and is always busy. It's closure would be a big loss to many if the people of ED. https://www.change.org/p/save-lordship-lane-post-office
  6. Charlie Smith wrote in SE22 magazine that he hopes local people will get together to oppose the closure of the main Post Office on Lordship Lane which, judging from the length of the queues, is clearly an essential service, even more so now all the banks have gone. Can I ask the Goose Green Councillors to advise on how best local people can oppose this closure and how the councillors can help to ensure that this Post Office stays open.
  7. Thank goodness for all that lovely paving for everyone to stand on. 🎄
  8. Why not donate straight to St Christopher's online and buy your tree from a small independent retailer like Paul at Indaco, 483 Lordship Lane. Next door to the old Barcelona bar. That way you can support the charity direct and a small local business direct. Much better than Pines and Needles who will probably send less of your money to charity.
  9. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/dec/11/the-tories-are-living-in-an-echo-chamber-with-kemi-badenoch-as-its-mouthpiece?CMP=share_btn_url Gotta love John Crace. Hits the nail on the head.
  10. 🤣🤣🤣Love the idea/fantasy/delusion that Kemi BadEnoch is the economic and political saviour we've all been waiting for. Absolutely hilarious. If only I'd known. No doubt she'd do it in less than 100 days or would it be more than 14 years? 🤣🤣🤣
  11. Perhaps someone from the Dulwich society can enlighten us on why Dulwich Library/ Dulwich Plough is deemed "Dulwich" for geographical purposes. 🙏 Personally I had always thought it was because it was determined as that for the tram stop in the days of trams and then for the number 12 bus.
  12. Another great job by Simmonds Plastering. This time he decorated the newly plastered living room and added a pantry cupboard in kitchen. He is reliable and works really hard. Highly recommend 07949 180 533
  13. I know nothing about farming so can't really comment but when I read things like this interesting thread from Guy Shrubsole I am increasingly cynical about those making the loudest noise. And yes it is a genuine link.
  14. Just in case you do get a cheque you can pay it into your Monzo account or similar by taking a photo of the cheque in the app v easily. I know my bank's app didn't work but that's probably the exception. I have to say that if and when people gift me money in any form I'm always really appreciative and never get irritated. But for those that are not tech savvy of whatever age, brain power or other reason, a face to face encounter may be preferable but becoming increasingly impossible so that company profits can be increased.
  15. It is important that children and young adults should not be irritated when given money as a gift 😕
  16. I believe "Dulwich" is deemed where Dulwich library is situated so left at Peckham rye and straight up Barry Road
  17. And just by coincidence I tried to scan the cheques in to my account today but the app wouldn't scan so my bank told me I would have to go to a branch or to the post office as they couldn't work out what the problem was. Hah!
  18. Just last week I received cheques from NS&I. I wasn't given the option of bank transfer for the particular transaction. My nearest option for a parcel pick up point was the post office! The only cash point this week was the post office as the coop ATM was broken. Many people of whatever age are totally tech savvy but still need face to face or inside banking and post office services for certain things, not least taking out cash without the worry of being mugged at the cash point. It's all about big business saving money at the expense of the little people who, for whatever reason, still want or need face to face service. At least when the next banking crisis hits there won't be anywhere to queue to try and demand your money back so that'll keep the pavements clear.
  19. So no banks and another cash point will disappear. All those people that said never mind the closing banks, you can use the post office may have a bit more understanding of those that need to use a bank or a cash point without traveling miles and waiting ages in a very long queue.
  20. Can we call our MP by her full name Ellie Reeves even if she is our bezzy mate behind the scenes? I think it undermines the importance of a role when we call our elected representatives by their first name only so I'm all for full names.
  21. Slightly out of area but worth a shout out is the little outdoor cafe opposite West Dulwich Station, corner of Belair park.... Stephanie's. Great coffee and food and really excellent music, I can't tear myself away! It has a covered bit in case of rain.
  22. There's only one way to sort out this circular argument! All ages included. 😕
  23. From the costumes to the decorations it's a horrorfest of non biodegradable orange, white and black plastic and polyester 😱
  24. If Bumpkin doesn't want lessons in an automatic car they're not going to want lessons in an electric vehicle as you can only get a limited license 🤔
