  1. I send out several 2nd class items every day which are second class tracked. They are getting delivery quickly. Some even arrive next day, which is amazing. RM are prioritising tracked items as the sender can claim compensation in some cases after 10 working days. Things like Christmas cards have no priority whatsoever so are taking 3 to 4 weeks to get delivered. Plus a lot depends on the local delivery office. The Peckham D.O. is a disaster area. If it's important, send it tracked Not true. My tracked parcels took 2-3weeks to arrive. £5.65 for one book sent to me tracked first class but only as tracked at delivery. Tracking at 24/48hrs is even more expensive and we shouldn't have to pay that. Sending post out of SE22 doesn't seem to be a problem. It's the post coming into SE22. In my case all parcels were stuck in the Croydon sorting centre when I rang to enquire.
  2. If parcels are being prioritised why are tracked parcels not being delivered on time....one tracked parcel sent 28 November arrived on 22 Dec. One 24 hr tracked parcel sent 21 Dec still hasn't arrived. Royal mail are charging for a service they just can't deliver. I thought it was all about competing for the parcel delivery market but now I'm wondering if it's about a service so bad it collapses and royal mail can do a big property sell off and walk away.
  3. ZIP card found on Underhill Road. Please send a PM to hopefully get the card and owner reunited. Thanks
  4. Brilliant idea. Not!! To bring healthy people seeking banking advice into the same place as sick and potentially infectious people seeking health care. I guess the rent is much cheaper than a proper bank...gotta keep up those profits...poor bankers!
  5. Same place as it's burst and been repaired at least twice before. I would really appreciate someone from Thames water explaining why repairs only seem to last a few months before they go again. There are several leaks in this area that have been repaired at least three times.
  6. Yes there's definitely a sore throat, lost voice, headache and cough bug going round lasting 1-2 weeks. Hope you feel better soon.
  7. Considering that stretch of LL has lost two ATMs at Barclays since Friday, it's not a surprise the Co-op and Post Office ATMs are being given a hammering. There are two additional ATMs that charge a fee, Yildirim Off-licence at 93 LL charges £1.99 and Payless at 23 LL charges £1.85. The reduction of cash machines across the board because more people are using card is leaving those who rely on cash with less options. Even Saisnbury's has reduced the ATMs at DKH from 2 to 1. It's actually 5 ATMs lost because there were 3 inside including the machines that allow you to pay in cheques and not to mention all the times people tried to use the inside ATM only to be redirected back to the queue for the counter staff. Another nail in the coffin of customer needs. Maintenance of banking profits is king!
  8. I thought you were pulling the ripcord....
  9. Cos we really need another restaurant.....so much more useful than a bank!!!! Poundland is - its replacing Foxtons. Its discussed here: /viewtopic.php?t=2286345 Haven't heard anything about Wagamama. Any source for that one?
  10. A bit of a side step but this place in London is worth a brief visit on a walk around Smithfield for random acts of amazing kindness and self sacrifice. V moving and on the 63 bus route. http://www.postmanspark.org.uk/about.html
  11. This car is parked on Belvoir road at the junction with Underhill Road. The license plates have been removed which makes me wonder if it has been stolen and abandoned. It has a baby seat in it. If it's your car then hopefully you can pick it up and get it back.
  12. Not weird because Dorries is an amoral, Borislicking idiot. Remember she's the MP who appeared on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here whilst be paid by us to be an MP. It's hard to imagine how she ever got so far in politics. She backed Truss along with Rees Mogg and now she's smarting from the fact she was kicked out of cabinet so now she's gunning for Truss. Amoral the lot of them.

  14. Excellent feature. Thanks Joe
  15. Oh that's the "if I concentrate, or pretend to, on something so much that I don't see my dog do it's business and no one calls me out on it, I'll get away with having to pick up a dog turd and walking round with it" technique. Because as we all know it is pretty revolting having to carry a bag of dog turd around until you reach an even more revolting doggy do bin. Anyone who gets a dog should have to first pass a test of picking up a dog turd and walking with it until they reach a smelly doggy do bin, for however long that takes, and if they can't do this repeatedly and therefore fail the test then they shouldn't be allowed to have a dog!!! Offending dog owners are just yucky!
  16. Just saw an interesting little article in The Dulwich Diverter about trying to improve traffic problems in Dulwich due to the large number of "non-catchment schools" in the area. Parents and others may be interested in looking at the websites to see what they can do to improve the traffic problems related to the school run. https://sustainableschoolr.wixsite.com/sustainableschoolrun https://www.homerun-app.com/
  17. We get certain things free in the EU but it depends on what is provided by the government in the country you are in. Usually it's not the comprehensive, free at the point of delivery, care you get in the UK. I have had free care for a minor injury in a state hospital in France using an EH1C but received a bill for x-rays taken at the time with the bill sent to my home address in London a couple of months later. So as you say, still worth having insurance.
  18. Charging for DNAs pops up every few years and is always dismissed as a bad idea. Better ways to ensure people attend are the text reminders and appointment confirmations etc that now exist. I don't actually see any problem with ensuring patients are entitled to NHS care via, for example, an NHS card. It is supposed to be for those paying appropriate tax, those in receipt of benefits or those from overseas who have registered to pay for their care. It's simple finance to check entitlement to care and could be done in advance of care via a patient's NHS number. But for some reason people see it as xenophobic even though the same people expect to pay for care or to pay for insurance when they travel abroad. They also fear any type of card which could be seen as data collecting despite many people leaving a very thorough ID and data trail with every social media post they make Certain emergency care is free to anyone and everyone anyway but for example, cancer care can cost hundreds of thousands of pounds. We could say that anyone that comes here can have free care which is often what happens here by default as no administrator checks. Or we could say that those contributing or on benefits, are entitled to care and others are welcome but have to pay. Since most people here are entitled, it's more of a political and society mind shift than an administrative difficulty. It could be done but at the moment it is left to receptionists and other staff to randomly identify those who might need to talk to the appropriate administrator to assess entitlement or need for payment. We have to get beyond the idea that limiting entitlement to tax funded services to those appropriately contributing (or on benefits) is inherently xenophobic. If it makes financial sense then why not do what most other countries do and collect funds appropriately.
  19. A posh foodhall??!!!!! Nooooooooo 😭 How much posh food can people eat in ED? How about a bank? When this one goes there will be no banks in ED. A bank would be really useful to the community!
  20. The day I was in the bank with a long queue, most people were not "old" but they still had transactions that could only be done at the counter of Barclays. You may not need to use the counter often but when you do need it, who wants to travel to one of the last remaining and therefore increasingly crowded branches just so Barclays can maintain their profits and dividends for the more wealthy in the population.
  21. No problem with a pedal assist bike
  22. Would be interesting to know if the Barclays ATMs will also shut down in December. If they do then Savvygirl, make sure your PIN doesn't accidentally get locked as you'll be travelling a much longer way to an ATM to unlock it.
  23. I'm very tech savvy and the only reason I go to the bank is to do one of the many things that can only be done at the counter. This was also the case for others in the queue as you can of course hear why they are there when they explain to the member of staff front of house. You're lucky you never have to go to a bank but there are many situations where it is necessary. Neither of the staff I encountered want their workplace to close and I cannot see how the number of people needing to use the counter can be accommodated in existing bank space elsewhere.
  24. So today there are 6 people queuing for the ATMs inside, 9 people queuing for the counter, one ATM machine not working, one customer complaining that the ATM inside has not registered her deposit accurately, one person wanting to make a formal complaint and several people with mobility issues who I doubt would be able to travel to Brixton or Peckham without assistance. Not sure if Barclays are purposely making it so awful that we want to see the back of it. Personally I would like to see another front of house staff member and another on the counter.
