Another recommendation for Gary who came round today to fix a broken light fixture and replace a faulty low power lighting set up. Very reasonably priced and great work.

A lot of kids at the Belham previously went to either the Villa or Little Jungle. I?ve heard both being spoken about positively but don?t have direct experience.

Just to let you know Dulwich Runners goes out on Wednesday nights at 7pm from Edward Alleyn Club on Burbage Road. There are runners at all paces and a range of distances. Running in a group is a good motivation and the evenings get darker. Also I think Runhead do a Tuesday night run from the beer shop in Nunhead.

There are I think three overlapping trends. There was a baby boom 10-12 years ago, this is the cause of the bulge classes in the top end of primary schools and prompted a number of new primaries and secondaries to open, this boom was perhaps less sustained than expected. Brexit cased a depopulation of European families from the UK both in the immediate aftermath of the vote and again in 2020 (anecdotally my son?s class lost a number of kids with European parents). Then COVID caused another wave of migration this time from London to the country, again my son?s year lost 10% ish of the kids (5-6 out of 60) since 2020. Presumably from September 2022 things will settle down a bit.

The reasoning at our son?s school is parents wind up doing a lot of the homework anyway. They put a big emphasis on reading every night and from KS2 expect the kids to be filling in their reading logs. As I went to a UK state primary that had no homework and then went to a UK state secondary that did have homework I?m not particularly concerned about the transition but can understand why parents with different experiences will find it odd. Realistically the kind of parent that is posting this kind of question on a forum about East Dulwich is going to be providing a supportive enough environment that their kids will be fine whatever approach the school takes.

Even if parents are working from home a couple of days a week this doesn?t reduce demand for nursery places. You can?t really work and look after a three year old at the same time (as the pandemic showed). Perhaps the pandemic has encouraged a bit more part time working but I don?t believe the multi-year waitlists have evaporated like is being claimed.

Bunch of places depending on what you want. Maria?s Tortilla on LL is fantastic, I also enjoy Yama Momo also on LL. On the Peckham side Forza Win, Babb Bahn, Artusi and Coal Rooms are all worth a look. Not been to any of them post lockdown but they were reliable prior to that.

My main problem is the proposal is to tackle the problem by taxing income not wealth. This disproportionately hits the less wealthy, younger and lower paid. It also does this in order to preserve the inter-generation wealth gap in the property market. Sure it would be nice for people to pass on their houses that they bought through right to buy in the 1980s to their kids in their 40s, 50s, or even 60s; but that shouldn?t be funded by raising taxes on their grandchildren.

I think topography has a lot to do with it, plus locations for placing masts. The goose green end of Adys Rd now has full strength 5G on O2, but is still almost non existent by the other end of the street.

Football Magic (https://www.footballmagiccoaching.co.uk/) are excellent. They do term time weekly sessions and holiday clubs.

The Southwark waste and recycling centre website says they?ll reuse good condition furniture. Not sure how reliable that is though.

I expect a large number of the ?not primary residence? category are holiday or investment properties. Long term empty is probably for similar reasons especially with overseas owners unable to travel for the last 18-months.

Balfe?s on E Dulwich Road are a great shop.

Going back as well as to the side is significantly more expensive because the steelwork is more complex and because of the extra foundation work. Overall cost is all down to fit and finish. I?m sure you could get a basic side return built for ?30-50k but put in nice glazing, a new kitchen, decent new floor etc it?ll easily run to ?100k
