  1. We bought a little free standing sink unit, a couple of cheap tables and a small induction hob from IKEA. Added a decent combi microwave/oven. That served us well for 5 months.
  2. Householdresponse.com is definitely genuine and is how most councils manage their electoral roll these days. See the relevant Southwark webpage https://www.southwark.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/voting-and-elections/annual-electoral-canvass-2021. I agree that the way it has been communicated isn?t good practice.
  3. If you connect your TV to your router (either via Ethernet or WiFi) then this will not give you broadcast TV channels. However if your TV supports apps (which if I has an Ethernet connection it probably will) then you can install iPlayer, ITV player and All 4 and just watch via those apps. That?s what we do with our TV as our aerial is disconnected.
  4. I saw a Jay in Sydenham Woods yesterday.
  5. Herne Hill Harriers and Kent AC both have Juniors sections with contacts on their website. Most clubs are very welcoming of new runners.
  6. She may find the calculators on Contractor Calculator helpful for working out her rate based on advertised full time salaries. Calling a couple of recruiters would be a good way of understanding typical rates.
  7. I can?t find the worked example for the Israel one but it is correct. This Guardian article covers similar ground https://www.theguardian.com/theobserver/commentisfree/2021/jun/27/why-most-people-who-now-die-with-covid-have-been-vaccinated.
  8. Even for most honest people a lot of the statistics are non intuitive. Take the headlines that 50% of Delta variant cases in Israel are from fully vaccinated people. This sounds bad but is exactly what you?d expect with 85% of the adult population vaccinated and a 90% is vaccine efficiency.

Because having two doses is massively more effective than only having one and the faster we get widespread vaccine coverage the fewer people die. Also because it?s government policy to bring over 40s doses forward from 12 weeks to 8 weeks. Why wouldn?t you really hope to have a potentially lifesaving treatment as soon as possible?
  10. Oh come on, comparing the council to Nazi Germany is deeply offensive and also completely ridiculous. The council has also been engaging local schools on environmental topics for as long as I can remember. There were kid drawn banners outside Goose Green school for a long time and anti-idiling posters outside most of the schools in the area.

I think it does make a difference for a few reasons. First the hypocrisy, yes Fergusson was across town in a lockdown, but Hancock demanded his resignation and prosecution He also explicitly told people not to hug family members two days before that photo was taken. Second and more importantly is the use of public funds, he used our money to pay her and appears to have also given her brother a huge PPE contract. Finally his answer to any question (e.g. over the Cummings testimony) has been I?ve been 100% focused on our NHS. This is clearly a lie because at least some of his time was spent employing his girlfriend so they could have fun times in the office.

AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine offered. Second doses offered if it is at least eight weeks since the first dose.? From experience when the second vaccine is added to your record you get a text from the NHS saying ?our records show you have had both doses of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine. We are therefore cancelling your appointment on [date], which was booked through the NHS website or 119. If you think our records are incorrect, contact your GP surgery.?

Thanks James, yes the delay to restarting was a national decision. I understand Southwark have given permission to use all four of the parks in the borough.

But remember every earlier > slot you book is taking a slot away from someone > trying to get their first jab. This isn?t true. People able to bring forward their second dose almost exclusively getting AZ and the younger cohort who are getting first doses are getting Pfizer. The government guidance for over 40s is that second doses should be at 8 weeks not 12 weeks. Of course people should change their appointment online (which now shows earlier availability when you go to change appointments) rather than bother staff trying to deliver vaccines, but the advice is to bring forward second doses. The Guy?s walkin centre explicitly says they?re for over-40s first and second doses.
  15. My second AZ jab side effects were almost non existent (sore arm) compared to feeling really ill for 24 hrs after the first.
  16. This whole anti-trans agenda is almost identical to the homophobic debates right that continent today. The same ?it?s not natural? argument. The same casual implication that trans people / gay people are sexual predators. The same ?won?t you think of the children? argument while ignoring the harm done by the status quo. I also find it interesting how many of those making such noise about this have never shown the slightest interest in real women?s issues like gender based violence, the gender pay gap, health inequality, or real children?s issue like child poverty or education. It?s almost as if concern for women and children isn?t their real agenda?.

  18. My view is actually from the same article you?re quoting where Davey also says ?Voters are far smarter than people give them credit for. Liberal Democrat voters may well notice that this is a Labour-held seat with the Tories in a close second, and they?ll draw their own conclusions. But that shouldn?t be stitched up in a back room by party leaders.? I think this rules out parties standing aside for each other.

Experience? I would love for it to happen but I have little faith that the parties would be able to reach agreement to stand aside for each other.
  20. Search for head of the new Brexit Opportunities Unit begins: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/search-for-head-of-the-new-brexit-opportunities-unit-begins Perhaps something to have been thinking about before voting leave not 5-years later!
  21. You?re right. I was referring to your second sentence about the difficulty of large numbers of people (by which I read voters) seeing the bigger picture. I wasn?t referring to a voting agreement between the parties which is almost certainly impossible.
  22. BrandNewGuy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > By-elections are easy for people to vote > tactically. In general elections, the national > noise makes it almost impossible for large numbers > of people to see how their local vote can affect > the 'bigger picture'. The chances of an anti-Tory > Lab/Lib Dem/Green voting agreement are tiny, alas. It was pretty common pre-coalition. The Labour vote in Lib Dem/Tory seats like Bath or Twickenham was tiny and getting tactical votes was a core part of Lib Dem campaigning. Hence all the ?Labour can?t win here? dodgy bar charts that adorned all Lib Dem literature. Whether it?s repeatable in today?s media environment - who knows.
  23. I thought that it was interesting in two aspects. A collapse in Green and Labour vote, perhaps people are more open to cooperation post Corbyn. And a similar shift from Tories to LibDems, possibly due to a shift of working age middle class professionals who seem less likely to vote Tory than similar voters a decade ago. Perhaps a third factor is that maybe the taint of the coalition in general and tuition fees specifically is coming off the LibDems. Not reading too much into a low turnout by election but if Labour and the Lib Dems vote tactically and there?s a shift of middle aged professionals away from the Tories this puts most of the South in play. The challenge for Labour remains that without Scotland and the North there?s no route to a majority.

  25. Play it by ear and use Waze to keep checking the fastest route. Usually M4 is quickest, occasionally A3 to A303 is better but it gets really congested especially in summer. Going late on Friday or very early Saturday are your best bets. The last two trips I did to the West Country on a Friday afternoon it took me as long to get from ED to the M4 as it did from there to Bath.
