Somewhere to take the other half in and around LL

Green and Blue do both a vegetarian platter and a fish platter - both served with bread and salad, both delicious, and very reasonably priced. -
Somewhere to take the other half in and around LL
Bellenden Belle replied to downsouth's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Having seen both the original stage production at the Donmar and the film, can I just say that actually Beautiful Thing is an absolutely gorgeous heart warming play. Its council estate setting might sound grim but essentially it is a play about falling in love and in particular that wonderful experience of love for the first time. And it is very very funny. That said, i have no idea what this production is like - but if they are simply faithful to the script, I think yu would have a realy good time. -
We also used Aussie Man and Van - they were absolutely amazing! Absolutely stress-free. Highly recommended.

Haven't been there in a while but Tsunami used to do black cod... absolutely delicious and almost as good as Nobu's (at a far more reasonable price). If there are any canny investors out there please, I beg you, bring us a sushi restaurant!

Ooooh I do hope so - I have fond memories of grabbing Bono outside the Barbican theatre (where he was involved in the soundtrack to Clockwork Orange), giving him a kiss and proclaiming my undying love as a teenager. Sadly nowadays I am more likely to be found kissing the floor of the Gowlett!

Il Giardino (restaurant in peckham)
Bellenden Belle replied to spanish-archer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have said it on the another thread but I am happy to join in again and praise this lovely little restaurant. I think Charlie and Marmora Man summed it up pretty well - it is not groundbreaking; but what it does, it does well. And it leaves you with both a full belly and a lovely warm feeling inside that such welcoming places still exist. -
Stealing from Charity (Shop on Lordship Lane)
Bellenden Belle replied to Domitianus's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Actually many of the "charity collection" bags put through doors should be viewed with caution. There have been recent newspaper reports on how they are far from charitable with donations being sold for profit overseas. A double edged sword - taking goods away from bona fide charities and also adding to the strain of struggling third world economies by flooding the market with imported clothes. -
Oh god, I feel terrible about this - and really, truly I am not usually so disorganised (I can actually feel myself blushing as I write this) but I can't make next Sunday. Aggghhhh - I have got to get my life organised. But my weekday availability still stands - I promise.

I did wonder if Stella's post was the Real Mccoy - first posting; reviving a thread not actually current; the rather odd statement "we agree with other forum members..." ... I smell a rat (hopefully not hidden in my chicken chow mein)!

Stealing from Charity (Shop on Lordship Lane)
Bellenden Belle replied to Domitianus's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It is indeed a very dishonest thing to do and I hope that despite her defences she felt ashamed - well done on tackling her and speaking up. However - it drives me crazy seeing all that stuff dumped outside every week. It makes the place look an absolute tip. The fact is if you want to donate then either do it in opening hours or walk down to Mind and use ther clothing recycle box. Dumping on the street is literally that - dumping - and many charity shops actually won't take in bags left in this manner for all sorts of reasons. -
is anyone watching big brother this year?
Bellenden Belle replied to mamafeelgood's topic in The Lounge
I reckon this is about the third series I have watched... and none has beaten the simplicity of the first. I watch the Big Brother on the Couch because I like the pop psychology element of it. The rest of it I take and leave as and when - I've gone weeks this year without watching it, then I'll dip in for a few days. People always describe Big Brother as something akin to an addiction whereas the beauty of the format is that it is impossible to miss anything of vital importance even if you don't watch for ages. I'd like Brian to win this year. -
New Chandelier Tea shop is open....
Bellenden Belle replied to ednerd's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Lordship Bob, Your post echoed my sentiments exactly - we too had the afternoon tea for two - omigod, how small were those triangles sandwiches? Literally bite size. Which if we were talking luxury foods I might accept - btu we are talking egg and cress and cheese. We went for the afternoon tea after looking at the rest of the menu - ?5.50 for a bacon sarnie and hugely inflated prices for basics like quiche. I love the tea, the surroundings, and the staff were friendly so I definitely wish them well - but it is unlikely to become a regular destination for me in the way it would have if I knew I could have a lovely lunch along with my tea. -
Mmmm, don't think that's actually how greenmetropolis works actually. It's a selling site - you list your books on their site; they sell them; you get money, they get money - and 5p goes to the Woodland Trust. If going down this route, you will usually get a better price for your books on Amazon where they are more likely to sell and you can make your own charitable donation. www.greenmetropolis.com

Gay lib outside the charity shop (contains rudeness)
Bellenden Belle replied to Nero's topic in The Lounge
I love the fact this thread is top of the list - only beaten by "Tell us what you think about this forum". I would love to know if there are any newcomers this week - talk about first impressions! If there's a big turnout at the birthday party I think we can put its success down to this thread. Mmmm, and yes, I am a middle class big brother watcher - ooooh, I feel so dirty saying that.... -
ClareC - I don't know where they are concentrating their mailshot, but we got a letter for selling and we're on Maxted Road, off Bellenden Road.

It's terribly unfair you know if someone clicks on a thread expecting soddom and gomorrah (sp?) and lands up with a review of an indie film. I say let's get back to talking dirty! -

I can't remember the film too well either - perhaps it was the opening scene? It certainly is the most enduring image the film left me with... -

Reminds me of the last scene of the film Happiness - if anyone recalls it. -

Ooooh - you are so right Bob - Russian Goggles seemed absolutely bewildering - can you imgaine trying to mug someone using that method? Imagine the evidence you'd have to give in court! One day I think I am going to start a thread asking people to divulge how often they check this forum and where they do it. I think the stats could be shocking... no wonder UK productivity is down this year! -

Hee hee - I have just googled teabagging! I pray to God work never examine my cache! Has anyone explained this to Dulwich Mum? Now why on heaven's name did such an educational thread get lounged? -
The trick is to make sure you get valuationsfrom other agents - and to do your homework so you know exactly how much you should be getting. Then go with Foxtons. Agree with Alan Dale that sales negotiators will still get their commission. Bottom line is that in this area good houses will sell - with very little imput needed by estate agents. Also - anyone out there thinking of hosting an Autumn Fair/ Christmas charity fundraiser - this is the time to approach Foxtons as sponsors as they will be very keen to see a flurry of boards across the area showing their community spirit (hee hee) and of course because that trick makes people think they are selling houses even when they are not.
