I've heard it so often ... "That Benjaminty's a right t1t!" ... but I've been called a lot worse

Jack Dee and I were separated at birth.... apparently Or perhaps one of the "cousins" from Eastenders...(this means absolutely nothing to me)
  3. Chav, I think Monkey's detail from earlier in the thread pretty much shows this is more the speculation. Many residents have been in contact with agencies over the last few months. The council taking action was never to pass the problem on elsewhere, it was to address all issues as best they could and offering a new start to those memebers of the household who wanted it. I think by the sounds of it, everyone is happy (or happier at least). Just waiting to see if anyone starts to squat in there before new residents are moved in. Every single window is open at the house for some reason.
  4. I sincerely hope not CWALD. In fact I know they aren't (unless through their own volition)... As I understand it, it may not have been the ideal resolution, simply been rehoused but not getting any more help than they did before. I may be wrong but that's my understanding. Next on the list are my neighbours who hang their meat from the kitchen window as they dont have a fridge and love their pet cockroaches just the way they are thank you very much.....
  5. That it is! We wait to see who moves in....
  6. No I think you mean it's dangerous to start in amongst them. Put us out infront on the boxes and we get seen. We can start at the same time when in that postion ... infact I think we are quicker than buses and a lot of vans and cars from the lights.
  7. Thanks Asset - even for purely road use?
  8. Thanks for the advise guys. I'll see what I can wangle next week then as I've signed up to the scheme. The PX's look amazing ... but somewhat out of my price range. Maybe a Boardman it is...
  9. I've decided that if I am to dare jump any lights or crossings and get knocked down in the process I might as well look damn good while I'm doing it... My company offers the tax free bicycle to work benefit thingy and I can spend from ?100 to ?2000+. I figure ?500 is enough and I have to get the bike from Halfords from their website. They have Trek, GT, Kona & Boardman amongst others. Anyone have any preference or excperience of these makes and price range when commuting? I won't really do any off-roading so the attached Boardman hybrid looks a good choice for me. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_241897_langId_-1_CarSelectorCatalogId__CarSelectorGroupId__varient__categoryId_124468_crumb_33980-33957-106165-124465_parentcategoryrn_124468# Any thoughts for or against this bike?
  10. mostly agree Blinder. But don't think I'm being hypocritical (I would say that wouldn't I). My concern is that cyclists.. and I'm not saying any who have responded here, but almost take this as thrill a seeking activity. Is that a fair judgement? It just seems crazy some of the stuff I see. I saw a guy jump the lights in Camberwell this morning at the junction with cold harbour lane and just fly out and then look. Is he looking just for the sake of it? What could he do about a speeding car? Not much... MM - I understand all that you've said and some of your points. Have you had any close shaves? I want to talk about those pedestrains now that cross roads without looking... especially those who push a pram into the road before endangering themselves. But I'll leave that for another day.
  11. Hi All, A contentious issue and not sure how many cyclists will admit to it. I rode to work today for first time in about a year... and I'm still blown away by how many cyclists jump lights. Anyone do it? Sadly as if to add any weight to it (as if I needed to) a cyclist has been killed this morning outside my office by Southwark bridge (although don't think any lights were jumped). Very sad. It's happened a few times at this junction in the last couple of years and deepest sympathies to family - hope it's not anyone on the forum. I can't believe for one minute anyone would jump the lights at this junction... think it was down to a 40 tonner truck and lack of visibility. Reading this again .. I doubt anyone will respond.
  12. Perhaps the only saving grace is that she didn't come on stage adorned in products from her shop? Poor lady... I've had many a Sunday cringeathon ... but not on that scale I'm sure.
  13. Slip of the finger adelaide? Anyway since you've brought this thread to my attention ..... I gotta tell you all about wahaca. I'm no judge as to how authentic mexican food should taste, but this place is fresh, clean, cheap and I've enjoyed everything I've tried there. I've been several times and never been dissapoointed. Think it won Observer cheap eats this year.. Give it a go ... I know it's not local .. http://www.wahaca.co.uk/
  14. How odd.... I wonder why? Perhaps in the wake of Ofcom's investigation or just standard practice. Surely a TV is more accessible to young ones than a PC?
  15. OK I see what you;re saying Sean. I did read the article twice. Hmmmm perhaps my hangover is affecting my ability to read and guage understnding... possibly doesn't bode well for all the emails I've sent at work today.
  16. I can't believe I'm going to do this... but I have to stick up for the DM and say that the they have simply reported the fact that people complained to Ofcom. I can't see the Daily mail expressing any of their views in this particular article. Have the Independant or Guardian written similiar artciles today? I watched the programme and thought it was brilliant. And I might have, at the grand age of 35 and not having lead a sheltered life actually learnt something too. I just can't imagine having seen a programme like this 20 years ago on any channel at any time let alone before the watershed. Well done Channel 4!!!! I'm V+ ing the series now for sure. For those that missed it you can watch it on the C4 website..

    Gymbox

Sorry Acedout I've seen the break dancing and the white glove & parachute trousered rave boy doing the flyers but I'm pretty happy with ESPH at the moment. If I was to leave I'd def give Gym box a go ... looks good fun... which is difficult to say about a gym. Any thoughts you have on the place .. please post on here? Where in Bank is it? Can't work it out..
  18. Correct it would be fairly boring .... but we don't need to worry about that ever happening do we. Just seems strange that Adventure bar has it's knockers (with good reason imho) and then people get irate about it. Perhaps Kidda and LEA can highlight the plus points of the place? Perhaps us fogies are missing something .... totally open to having my opinion being changed .. I just can't see anything to make that happen. So come on .... who's going to sell this puppy to me?
  19. Kidda.. you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about the forum and it's -ites rather than their views on the Adventure Bar. A little angry almost? Explain? I went to Adventure Bar last night. I say well done to them for taking on a big project and attempting to expand their portfolio. Unfortunately they fail to deliver in almost every way. They pertain to be a friendly bunch but last night I asked on the 2 for 1 if I may have a slightly different mojito from Mrs Benjaminty. "No go" apparently ... I have to buy 2 of each. (Lucky I didn't) so I pay the higher price. I actually don't give a sh1te about 2 for 1 at all ... but for a new business that is looking to provide good "service" ... it was hardly a good response. Anyway sorry back to my mojito. I like watching mojitos being made. I can pretty much tell whether it's going to taste as it should just from watching it being made. Now when I see "Hi how was your day" barman pour rum in at the SAME TIME as the lime and of equal measures... I'm already looking to walk but Mrs B says to stick with it. So now it has ice in it and it's half full of liquid... NOW FOR HALF A GLASS OF SODA! WTF is he doing to my drink? Then I wait for the bit of mint and for him to spank it and place it in the top of my glass for that lovely minty scent as the glass comes to my mouth - oh.... apparently not. I have to be honest and say I don't really like Liquorish ... or rather I prefer to drink elsewhere but I decided to see if all of LL made this new version of a Mojito. Thankfully no .... I was almost impressed with Liquorish. I actually had 2! And the proof is in the pudding - I feel mildly sh1tty today! A good sign I think. I didn't bother drinking much of my Adventure Mojito - I've had morning breath with more alcohol content than that (sorry for the detail). I'd would have loved YMCA .. (ooops sorry) Adventure Bar to be a good'un but it's totally soulless.. it really is. Having said that - Great toilets! As a point of reference on how a mojito should be made and taste - check out Mango Landin in Brixton! Bravo Mango Landin! So are Adventure Bar really rubbing their hands with glee as I write this?
  20. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings and all .... but as to there being many more fish in the sea ... well there are. BUT Are there that many fish that don't want to bump uglies until they're wedding night? I reckon the escort is the right idea! Although not of the vintage pictured by *Bob* .... there are some "adverts" in the newsagent near the bottom of Lordship lane that might tickle your fancy!
  21. Wouldnt bother .... most over rated film in recent years. Sorry
  22. Damn.... forgot to add Kennington Tandoori to that list!
  23. A short but distinguished list for me Anchor & Hope Upstairs in Brixton on Acre Lane Ganapati - Dosas - god dammmmmmmn! Brindisa - Borough market - never tasted a green salad as good as theirs..... so imagine how good the rest is! I can't quite put Franklins on here ... menu too ponced up when plain english would work. And tables too low.. (it's the small things that grate you know) DishDash I also love but not been there for a few years - also strictly SW not SE. Now my stomach is rumbling - it's a gowlettini for meeeeee!
  24. yeah us public school boys are all like that James. Good job no pigeon holing here eh! TWAT!
  25. I went through a phase of tripping every day as I walked home up Melbourne Grove on the left hand side away walking away from the station. I may be picking my feet up a little now .. but it's pretty bad. Also the pavement of Lordship (right hand side heading towards Goose Green) from carpet / wates old site down to Lane Cafe is atrocious ... add to that puddles that dont drain away and the world of buggaboos on a saturday .. I'd say that's pretty bad.
