  1. that's missing the point
  2. Yes - I meant to say low tax liability not no tax liability for offshore investors rental income - It's limited to 20% regardless of income band (unlike UK residents) and of course there are CGT benefits as well As for new homes for asylum seekers - cost avoidance? Yes - it may be expensive providing hotel accom - but prioritising building new homes when so many are already needed but not being built? Would you not think that reducing the need would be more cost effective? As to why rent is so high, it is down to cost - which is now mortgage + tax liability (which is increased due to S24) + profit - not just supply / demand. But it does have a real impact - the demographic of London is changing to older, wealthier, owners (not all asset rich are cash rich). It's undeniable that there is a housing crisis. Are we doing enough of the right things to reduce it though?
  3. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/london-hackney-kent-council-homes-asylum-seekers-home-office-b1265065.html £200m of new homes to be built for asylum seekers. We have a hosing crisis - high levels of homelessness - including children, soaring rents, rising house prices, shortage of homes - and our solution? Tax BTL landlords (leading to increased rent to cover tax liabilities), Encourage oversees investors (tax incentives as no tax liability) Encourage corporations to buy properties (increase rent to increase profit and tax planning to reduce liability) Prioritise new homes for asylum seekers. Raise money from taxing owners of expensive homes increase stamp duty WHERE IS THE LOGIC
  4. NYE is always like this. If you’re concerned about your pets, please consider seeing a vet as they can help. We give our dog valerian and play calming music, which helps especially after long walks and a big dinner. If it’s for yourself, it’s one night, so also suggest seeing your doctor for advice. It is loud, although more predictable ( kept to evening:to midnight) than Guy Fawkes celebrations which go on for days and are arguably selfish and inconsiderate. Either way, it’s a very difficult time for many.
  5. A damp specialist will sell you a damp solution. It could well be something different ( cracked drains, high ground level, guttering….). A surveyor will look at everything and won’t have their own trade solution to see you (i.e unbiased). Or you could contact your insurance company
  6. Get a surveyor, not a damp specialist. It could be external, condensation, penetrating damp, leaks….. it could also have dry rot implications
  7. We have a good one if you’re still looking, happy to sell for cheap.
  8. The one on Chesterfield was sold and they increased cost and some of their best staff left with the previous owner, hasn’t been the same since. Shame really
  9. If the fox wanted to attack you it would have. Sounds like it was chasing you off
  10. How do you know what the fox wanted to do if it didn’t do it.
  11. You can get free treatment for mange from National Fox Welfare Society. If anyone’s feeding a fox with mange, just add a couple of drops of meds
  12. The park and swings should absolutely be open and accessible for everyone.
  13. Just be careful to know exactly what they cover and the limits. i use Many Pets and Medivet, as I think one of the vets is exceptionally good. Some of the NHV are, but I’ve had a couple I’ve not liked at all. I need consistency and to feel that they actually care more about the animals than the money.
  14. what type of car was it, if they are in demand, might be helpful info.
  15. Not the only shop open on Lordship Lane, and pubs are open too. Years ago, when all the shops were closed on Christmas Day, pubs were open. We were always sent to the pub to get out of the way while dinner was cooking. great that there are options - and I bet some staff are happy to earn extra money. Merry Christmas!
  16. Let’s not all get scared of the foxes now. Most likely explanation is protecting its den or association with food. We have foxes, and cats and they are no bother to each other. The fox will leave when the cats are out.
  17. Only interested if they used ancient methods of transporting monoliths, for authenticity
  18. yes - often see a morning queue of sweaty runners - presume they don't actually realise there's a fab cafe next to the one they queue at..
  19. Borough market has good cheese
  20. I mean the runners - they possibly don't know it's there. Really strange I
  21. They are so good. Fabulous people too. I love the food - AND they are dog friendly. I don't understand why everyone queues at the place next door when this like goldmine is right THERE!
  22. My dog has to be medicated to cope with bonfire night. She’s a rescue so I don’t know what traumatic abuse she experienced. I love the fact that you, Dave CPR, are so unaware of how another can be affected by something that does not personally affect yourself. Blissful ignorance. Lack of Empathy. Cold hearted.
  23. Keep going out calling her, especially at night time when it’s quieter.
