Dulwich Park when it closes at night
Angelina replied to Katherty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Not reliably enough to assume you can get out. That's how the kids got locked in. They're better at locking it now. -

why would he do that? If it's late and dark, the park will close. It's not hard - it does get really dark in there so you would know I've not been to the Horniman in the evening, but tempted now -

You'd also think there would be an emergency number to call other than the Fire. -

DP has a noticeboard of the Park closing times. It's also online. The gates are locked by the gatekeeper which drives around the perimeter, and not before the noted closure time and not usually before dark. The fire brigade have been called to help children who have been locked in. They didn't have a set of keys, so really best avoided. -
GALA Festival 2024 Stakeholder Debrief
Angelina replied to fishboy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
they reduced the number of events and opted for fewer larger events instead - seems reasonable. https://www.timeslocalnews.co.uk/local-news/pub-in-the-park-festival-no-longer-viable-for-town-organisers-say/ -
GALA Festival 2024 Stakeholder Debrief

I think Dulwich Park is much better suited to it. The transport is a factor but then same goes for a lot of other festivals. -

One could naively think that setting up a meeting with invited locals to discuss issues arising from the recent Gala is the correct approach and we should commend the organisers for being so proactive. Sometimes you need to think about what should happen and see how far apart they are. To have a proper review, with full intention to follow up on any lessons learned, there should be a full fact find. This should be accessible to ALL residents (not just those invited) and should embrace other methods than one in-person session (they could send out a survey via Southwark website, or local social media). The council should be involved as well. There should be a compilation of the main issues raised and importance. Follow up should be based on addressing each point. The council should be involved. There should be accountability and a clear way forward, as agreed by all. So - the gap between what has been set up as a one day by invite meeting, is far, far away from what it should be, if the organisers truly wanted to listen and make improvements. Perhaps a clue would be that the meeting is set up by the Public Relations team - it's just a tick box. to be seen to be doing the right thing. -

Urgent reading glasses - where on ED?

brilliant - thank you all. We got some from the big Sainsbury - it was quite late so I was very happy. I'm going to check out the suggestions and get some spares 🙂 -
Other than the big Sainsbury, does anyone know which shop/ chemist might stock them?
-
It's been raised on the forum before - it's just come up again. Clearly still an issue

Think after trying option 1, the view is option 2

Was the price visible and clear? That’s a huge mark up on average prices. Maybe they had the wrong price. They’ll probably have lots of cabbages left now! I don’t go there anymore either since I paid far far too much for tomatoes. I did question the price though and was told it was correct.

Leash Laws not being obeyed in Dulwich Park
Angelina replied to user289237742920's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I just asked the woman in Dulwich Park to please call her dog because her dog was bothering my dog. I was told by her, “that’s what dogs do…..my dog is perfectly fine” she laughed. My dog was on a lead, not feeling well and was not happy being bothered. Some people are just utterly rude -
noted on the Friend's map as jogging path AND dog exercise area - with Friends noting the circumference for dog walking. the duwlch runners have the paved circuits - do the runners really need the outer paths as well? the paths are mostly fine - there's a couple of bits where the brambles are long (literally, a couple of bits of brambles). I tend to tread them down if I need to get passed on the path

Dog walkers should not have the dog off lead unless they have full recall control, regardless of park rules -
If you want to reduce the sound from your flat, you can add acoustic or sound absorbing material under your carpet. There are many options for different budgets (google sound reduction in upstairs flat) In terms of improving your relationship with your downstairs neighbour, a really good first action would be to stop labelling him as mentally ill and start to consider that he may be very stressed and grumpy after prolonged noisy upstairs neighbours who don't take any notice of his complaints. There's always two sides to one story, but this is completely solvable
-
Why assume he has serious mental heath issues? It may be intolerable for him. There are often complaints about vertical neighbours, especially those with kids or pets. If there is no insulation between ceiling and floor, sound carries. Kids or pets run around a lot and the sound of feet carries. You don’t say what type of flooring you have, having thick carpets etc can help
