It's far more serious than is being noted. One shop has regular shoplifters, who are totally brazen and no attempt to hide it. They have threatened the manager and that they will stab him when he is out, if he challenges them. They are rightly scared. Discuss it all you like at the community meetings, but there is a nasty, violent under current that is not being policed and it's just giving the kids and criminals a green light. There is a lot that is not being reported.

It is not at all about children's health. it's about minimising the traffic but using children's health is a great cover.

The problem with shops like this (and shops like Primark) where everything is cheap - even if it's size is smaller so it's not really cheaper - is that the environmental impact factor is ignored. Not saying shops like Sainsbury are any better, come to think of it Everything is disposable and made of cheap quality so needs replacing often. Batteries for example - you can buy 20 for £2 but they last a few weeks and need throwing away and replacing. A better way would be to sell cheaper but good quality rechargeable batteries Consumers have a great deal of power when it comes to making choices that mean shops become more environmentally friendly, but it's clear that that only happens if it isn't an inconvenience.

Thank you for your replies. The issue is that they have just added it to the meter so each time I top up, it takes a percentage so I'm technically paying for it - which is why I want to have it removed.

I have an old debt on my gas meter - British Gas have said it's from around 2010 but cannot provide any information as to what it's for. I don't believe I owe it as they have never written to me about it or sent me a bill or chased it. I only found out about it when I had a new gas meter installed in 2020 (I first questioned it then and it's still not sorted out). Since then I've been to the Ombudsman and they have said I need to provide evidence as to why the debt should be removed. I don't know what evidence to give them as I don't have any details for it or why it is even there. British Gas don't either. I'm not really sure why it's up to me to prove that I don't owe it. Any help appreciated.

Be super nice to them (even if you're faking) until YOU get what YOU want. You need them to think about you more than anyone else. Call them and ask for things coming up You have to be persistent. My daughter is looking to rent and find the same - places going very quickly. Although she doesn't actually need to move but just wants to before she starts uni. It is moving very fast and it is expensive. Is your tenancy actually finished? Did they issue you a proper notice to move out? Do you know about this? The landlord has to actually take you to court and get an eviction notice before you HAVE to move. I'd build up a rapport with the lettings agent and ask for early viewings before they are listed. Are you able to offer any rent up front? It can help. I would prefer a tenant who can pay cash in advance - and the landlord does get to choose who they let their property to. Also you may need to look further afield and spend less but have a different commute. Have you tried renting privately?
