  1. Thanks Alex - I'm sorry to hear that your teen has also experienced this. It's not the first time mine has - previously it's been things like "you need to move. you shouldn't be sitting there and you're in my way" or "you need to put your dog on a lead" and so on. She's also been shouted at for not letting a child pet our dog. I wouldn't let a screaming kid near our dog either, they are not a toy. To these abusive people, do not think you have the right to tell a younger person off or berate them. or even speak to them. Funny it's never happened to my husband or me. As said above, a special type of bullying.
  2. To the two old people in DP who just approached my 17 year old and said.. "for someone with a dog that big, you are very fat" How FRICKING DARE YOU 1. approach a child 2. verbally abuse them You have no idea of their mental state and I'm beyond words about how cruel you are.
  3. You?d need to look at the title deeds etc. have you spoken to the land registry?
  4. For godsake. How dare he annoy people. He has every right to be there. People are different and do different things.
  5. it's hardly the party - it's the individuals and the system that needs to be changed. you really think a Boris team would look after the community?
  6. Lidl luxury ones are really good and cheap
  7. The level of contempt the government is showing is obscene
  8. It would be interesting to know the ranked list of causes of accidents and the impact on the NHS. I imagine that the top ones would be subject to Health and Safety regulation at least. Fireworks are probably on there.
  9. It needs legislation for that very reason. The TFL scooters will be more solid and safer, as the bikes are.
  10. No. I don?t think you won any support to your cause by insulting the manager and your general entitled trolling tone
  11. I think we've been royally trolled.
  12. Slightly more tactful than your earlier post. Still needs work.
  13. you can wash veg - can't wash cakes. you're a mug if you pay ?4.50 for a brownie just because it's sold at a market.
  14. Do Sainsbury's sell uncovered cakes? I'd always be very wary as you're really trusting people to have washed their hands before handling said cakes. I've seen people pick them up and put them back down again..... I don't like Sainsbury but I think they are all much the same - they don't pay their staff well enough to go above and beyond. Waitrose is generally a bit better.
  15. thanks - i've messaged you
  16. it's all related to the vibe of living on the street - more so than whether it is grammatically correct. It's a fab area - it's always great to connect with your neighbours and our street Whatspp group is really successful - from giving things away/ selling things/ help with all sorts of things and social stuff. I strongly recommend it and hope that other streets do the same - it's much better than not knowing who you live near. so - if you live on Dunstans, why not get in touch!
  17. the thread has been revived to talk about a Christmas get together - I think it's a great idea. I don't live on the road but just around the corner and we have a Whatsapp group (fully inclusive) and there are lots of things we arrange - we have MacMillan Coffee Mornings, Christmas socials and things throughout the year. Does anyone live on Dunstans Road who can set up a Whatsapp?
  18. when people say "I was today years old when I found out that....." generally followed by something they should have known from common sense or common knowledge.
  19. hi Dulwichlass - were there street socials before? We have a person on our street who is frequently organising stalls in her garden and MacMillan coffee mornings. We also have a street whatsapp group - maybe you could see if your neighbours are interested in that? It's actually really nice to know who we live near and I'd say in general we're not so good at it but should do better.
  20. Thanks Renata - can there be more transparency? I don't see anything published and this should be visible. I gather it's cheaper for companies to use newly produced plastic than recycled. Also - what pressure is there on the supermarkets to move to recyclable materials? The amount of packaging that is not able to be recycled is very high.
  21. hi Renata Are there stats available for the percentage of recycling that is actually recycled - and how much is sent to landfill or send abroad to be recycled? It would be really useful to know. thanks Angelina
  22. The onus is on the council to confirm the specifics of the proposal. What are they quoting?
  23. Have a look on Spareroom; you can see rooms for rent as a lodger and also whole flats. Also look on estate agents websites. You should be able to arrange online meetings so won?t have to traipse around. It will give you and your grandson an idea of what is available and help you narrow down what you want. Congratulations to him for getting a job and moving - great independence
  24. Game changer = council housing land being used for premium private property when we have over 15000 on the council waiting list in Southwark.
