  1. Happy Birthday Aaron 🤩
  2. It is distraction. They are trying to avoid questions such as "prove you have cleaned the drains in the last ten years" (which they haven't) and so on. typically bully behaviour. Good point about impact on other flats - there isn't any - everyone has known about the work I've done since we were doing it. Quite pleased I have a fab solicitor.
  3. it's a long story - I have complained about the quality of the work that the Property Management company have done - as there is damage to my flat from blocked drains, leaking roof and from leaks from flat above. Their response is to challenge me on something that happened a long time ago rather than address the issues. I have a solicitor but just asking here. I will check the lease but it's really if the layouts of the property are set if a freehold changes hands.
  4. I just want to understand my position, if anyone has any experience? I bought a flat around 2003 and renovated it, changing the layout. Since then myself and the other leaseholders bought the freehold (as shareholders of a company). Now, after nearly 20 years, I've been asked by the other freeholders to put my flat back to its original layout. My question is - if the freehold was bought with the conversion already done, does that mean that the layout at the time was accepted? or does it mean I need to get retrospective permission? Too much time has passed and I have paid all service charges, major works etc so they have negated their right in any case. Thanks Angelina
  5. It is a revenue stream but TFL are not a profit organisation so all revenue is fed back in to improve transport around London (eg new Bakerloo line). While people may feel heavily inconvenienced, car pollution is a real problem.
  6. I think it's ok. I have nothing to hide and trust my Government to do it properly
  7. Why pick on students to fill the gaps? There are many unemployed. Perhaps there is a disconnect in communication of the vacancies. As for students, my daughter works part time (doesn?t earn much per hour) and studies as do all of her friends.
  8. That's a LOT of police presence, especially since the two men had left. Awful for the children to experience.
  9. Isn?t fireworks really celebrating an epic failure? Or a reminder that the government has continually failed?
  10. I'd rather noisy fireworks were banned - they have a far greater detrimental impact
  11. they were picking up from our skip yesterday. I'd leave it outside and it will be gone in a day .
  12. https://www.thesun.co.uk/money/15921594/how-much-cost-boil-kettle/ It costs around ?2.50 a year if you make a cup of tea every day. As for the shower, I thought it was normal to turn the water down or off. How can you do treatments with the water running? Unless you?re just having a quick shower?
  13. We are hanging winter curtains which have thermal lining (you can buy it separately and just fix it on). We're going to cover some of the windows which are drafty or just cold - you can get film to insulate them with - I might get thermal blinds for some as they are really effective - haven't really spent a lot of time looking at options yet. It will be hot water bottles, blankets, extra layers and quicker showers. Heating will be on but low to stop the issues with the house (damp etc). I've read that having the house at a regular temperature is better than having blasts of central heating for shorter periods - although happy if anyone has a view.
  14. It?s been there for much longer than two weeks. No sign of any workmen. I?d knock on doors if it bothered me.
  15. There?s a thread on gails.
  16. DV has really gone downhill in my opinion. Gails is dreadful.
  17. I'd say the crimes against women are different in nature and are reported differently. It's less often that men are sexually assaulted/ raped/ randomly physically attacked by a stranger. If the OP can find details of similar crimes against men / women we can then compare the reporting of them and understand why they think there is a disparity
  18. we've had ridgebacks and they are not an aggressive breed - they don't need to be. Do you have a description of the owner? What is the process for getting crimes followed up? there seem to be a number of incidents but nothing ever happens to the owners.
  19. Ridgebacks are not usually aggressive dogs, there are not many of them around here so should be easy to spot the owner/ dog. What did she look like (owner)? Sorry to hear this and hope your dog makes a quick recovery.
  20. natty01295 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Get on your bicycles ?? Totally support that Natty. It's down to people's behaviour. What people deem as essential and what really ARE essential are different things.
  21. well said.
  22. that's great news. TFL tried to take over the London Rail a while ago
  23. Are you challenging that people would need to drive to the doctor? That's not comparing similar things. If you want a comparison, it would be the Charter East school, which was supposed to not contribute as pupils were expected to walk or take the bus. IN reality, that's not the case and traffic has increased. We can realistically expect the same with a large nursery. The question is - do we want more traffic?
  24. what's your personal interest in the nursery, northernmonkey? Traffic is already at a standstill, pollution is already too high. There is no way that the nursery will be car free and will not contribute to increased traffic and pollution
