The actual problem is thieves trespassing on your property and stealing your property. But yes, let’s list the companies we buy from who deliver carelessly and then we can collectively avoid them. I’ll start. John Lewis - has to be signed for Forthglade - has to be signed for Amazon - will leave on doorstep but detailed tracking is available so there is time to ask a neighbour to pick it up, or to be home yourself Ebay - seller specific. You can ask (before you buy/pay) for the item to be posted recorded delivery or with tracking. The things I bought all needed to be signed for.

Porch Pirate? How about "Cheap Low Life Thieving Skank"
-
I think it's outrageous that he thinks he can do this. This is about reducing waiting lists. How dare he seek to fundamentally change the judicial system to address administrative failings (for which he is responsible). Courts are notoriously slow. Judges are slow. Perhaps look at WHY there are so many cases - what's going on? is crime going through the roof? Why not more judges, why not look at how court admin is managed? We had one judge - over retirement age, who only worked once a week (possibly) and was slow, frail and no idea about emails etc. no sense of urgency. I actually complained which did hurry things up. This is not a dynamic private company who wants to get things done - it takes time, it's a complicated and thorough process. RIGHTLY SO. As least he's not lifting the lid on free legal aid and increasing the tax payers funding of it.

hi Tom I'd ask a teenager. I'd lend you mine but they are asleep. Pop into a phone shop and ask for help with it. It's quite straightforward, but easier once you know.

It’s literal. There are levels of earners. Those who don’t work and get benefits, those who work and get benefits, those who work but don’t get benefits. now, it’s an assumption that the last group are all wealthy, but that’s not the case. People in this last group are most exposed.. private rent, higher tax brackets, cost of living increases, yet they pay the most tax, and get no help. So many questions: why are workers needing to be subsidised? Should companies pay more? Should there be private rent caps? Why are people better off not working at all, or only working low hours to ensure they get benefits top ups? How do you think people respond to this? Do you realise that a number of companies are focussing on buying property? The banks, the supermarkets! Yet the government is squeezing individuals out of this equation. What do you think this will look like in the future? When foreign companies own the majority of UK property?

That’s exactly what the budget did. You do realise the impact of tax band freezes? That’s precisely how she’s raised taxes. And tax on property income and dividends; but less of a money spinner

Thank you New Wave

overtaxing people, while taxing businesses, while increasing welfare but not increasing growth is NOT a solution.
-
So there isn't a hole, we don't need to pay so much tax. Let's backtrack. Encourage growth, reduce waste. What a mess.
-
Fascinating - you're actually picking up on the and overlooked critical point - is the infrastructure in place and able to support the additional number of occupants.

We have an item that needs proper professional care, not a high street generic service. Any experience of the local ones please?

It’s supposed to say “above £2m”. the point is that all levels will feel the impact of increased tax, but it’s more likely to affect those on low wages
-
The next six years will be a real problem. When costs go up with inflation and then salaries go up with inflation (likely not as much), more of that increased income will be taxed, which means like for like, people will have earn more but pay more tax so have less money and things will cost more. Rents will also go up as tax on rental income will not come out of the landlord’s pocket. It’s not just the people who own houses love £2m that will suffer ( and £7k is less likely to be an impact than higher tax and rent for someone on minimum wage wage
-
People pay a lot of tax. By 2031, this will be the highest tax paid ever. Coupled with the fact that the amount of debt we have and the amount we pay for that debt is also at an all time high, you can possibly understand why people are against paying more tax
-
London is changing to an older wealthier population, due to inflated property values pushing younger people out to other areas ( unless or until they inherit). It doesn’t mean that they are rich, you can be asset rich and cash poor. It’s not the best way to increase taxes but it’s not really looking at being fair.
-
There is nothing in the budget to promote growth, which is what we desperately need. The wealthiest pay more already, with the higher rate tax. I’m sure they can afford £7.5k but we need to encourage successful people and business to invest and stay in the country.

southwark to be given up to 10 million to improve buses

A Barista Bus -
I think a Greggs would be great - I bet it would be really busy, but would need tinted windows to protect the locals from being spotted. It could be ED's dirty little secret.

Social media is a very appropriate means of delivering a message and raising awareness, which does deliver change. Perhaps the police intend to enforce laws, or perhaps TfL have plans in place; perhaps it's just normal people making a small impact themselves. I know actions that the bus driver has taken, and I know of steps I have taken, and I know that people who have read this message have taken steps as well. I'd like to thank everyone for their constructive messages. Keep safe.

Help Needed Dealing With Foxtons - Living a nightmare for the past year
Angelina replied to hamlet_fan's topic in The Lounge
I would ask a solicitor. You may be able to claim compensation. You can speak to Lease free for 15 minutes ( very worthwhile), and a no win no fee Sol. -
you're missing the point and come across as just being disagreeable. I'm therefore just going to close this - as it;'s not a debate or an argument DRIVERS - please pay extra care as there are cyclists who are very low visibility and without lights or suitable clothing CYCLISTS - Put lights on your bike - front and back - and reflective strips at the very least. Consider other road users and pedestrians. EVERYONE - Be safe
-
You are again misinformed. The Highway Code is also clear about clothing. It is here. Section 59 Section 59 of the Highway Code explains the appropriate clothing cyclists should wear in order to make it easier for other road users to spot them and help to keep them protected in the case of a collision. Cyclist clothing: Helmet – Your cycle helmet should conform to the current regulations, be the correct size for your head and be securely fastened. Appropriate fitted clothing – Your clothing should be tight fitted to prevent it getting tangled in the chain or wheel of your bicycle. Light clothing – Light and fluorescent clothing will help you to stand out in daylight and poor light. Reflective accessories – Strips on the helmet, as well as armbands and ankle bands will help you be seen in the dark. and Section 60 This section of the Highway Code is all about cyclists’ lights and reflectors. At night cyclists must have their white front and red rear lights lit. Their bicycles must also be fitted with a red rear reflector and amber pedal reflectors. White front reflectors and spoke reflectors can also increase your visibility to other road users. Flashing lights are permitted but cyclists riding in areas without street lighting should use a steady front lamp instead.
-
Earl A…… You are misinformed. There is a legal obligation for cyclists to have front and rear lights. Rule 60 of The Highway Code
-
Lime bikes have lights at front and rear and reflectors. Cyclists are required to be roadworthy before cycling on the roads. They are expected to know that cars cannot easily see them if they have no lights and especially wearing dark clothes.
