  1. It's usual to have a list - which your husband would have signed if he had sponsored them. It does stink of a scam unfortunately. It is possible that someone sponsored her and she got muddled up between houses - but either way - shockingly poor organization skills and for that alone, I would keep away in future.
  2. I'd want to make sure it was hygienic - I have visions of people putting their hands in
  3. It must have come from the East as we're in Westminster and it's just passed - followed by dbboy's predicted blue/ cloudy sky
  4. We're looking at options for A-Level. I understand you can apply to local schools and move to them for A Levels rather than having to stay at current school. We're also applying to The Charter School and have been accepted at a college. Does anyone have any experience of A-levels and where is good? I'm told by my daughter that most of the children are leaving their school and moving somewhere else. The college invited us for an interview, but it was more just a declaration of acceptance. Some of the schools have interviews - does anyone have any experience? I think they're better staying somewhere they know and know what to expect, rather than moving to a different place just for the sake of change... I'd really love to have some first hand experience from families who have been through this decision.
  5. well, it couldn't look less like snowing if it tried.
  6. I would try the RSPCA and say you are not happy with response so far - they need to investigate and come out. It's not ok to leave a dog outside so technically the dog does have shelter but it doesn't sound good. Speaking to the owner is not a bad idea. find out what's going on. It could be nothing. Dogs bark when they're on their own. it could be something much more horrible. there are other animal rescue charities. I found the following Mayhew - Trenmar Gardens, Kensal Green, London, NW10 6BJ - Tel: 0208 962 8000 A bit far but they may have a suggestion Croydon Animal Samaritans 020 8681 0934 Or maybe the local vet would know.
  7. yes - thanks - makes sense. Intrigued but not my business.
  8. Thanks - that's completely fair enough.
  9. Poker Face - have you changed your user name ?
  10. I thought it might be a misprint. Easy to muddle up cm and inches.....!
  11. I often take the kids, my friends kids and their friends - and they're not particularly worried about the quality of the projection/ audio. I like it because we can pick up snacks in the pound shop - and the kids like it because I can afford to take them all, more often. The staff have always been fab too! If you're looking for something a bit more upmarket then you can always go to the west end and pay around three times as much. Anyway, we prefer Peckham. We usually buy our tickets earlier in the day so have them in hand. Quite easy really, once you know how it works.
  12. I either get the bus to Brixton (I have an app on my phone so know when the bus is coming) or the 185 to Vauxhall and jump on the tube there. Denmark Hill station is depressing - more so with the buses not stopping outside on the way home. Maybe it's all more tolerable when it's not freezing cold - roll on summer
  13. usually because they know what it is and don't want to receive it - thereby not being in a position of having to respond.
  14. is that meant to be as insulting as it is?
  15. It has queues on most Saturdays. buy your tickets online to avoid disappointment. It's a fab cinema - love it all.
  16. is that a fact?
  17. Spade
  18. limbo
  19. We've had snow at Easter before. It is still winter, people.
  20. I have had exactly the same problem. Someone kindly suggested I use a hammer and a screwdriver, which I did and it worked. Basically, hammer the screwdriver into the wall. It gave nice clean holes - started off with the drill to make a groove so it didn't slip. It took a bit of effort (a lot actually as I'm not really built for such things) but I have managed to put up all of my curtains and even shelves in the kitchen. it completely bust my screwdriver in the process. You have to take it out quite often so it doesn't get jammed in.
  21. Either way, coupled with the roadworks around Kennington/ Oval and the accident in Vauxhall traffic was pretty much at a standstill this morning.
  22. I know someone who went out for the day but first set up their speakers facing the wall and turned it up, on repeat with something very annoying playing. Childish? maybe. Effective? Yes.
  23. are you vegan Sue? If not, what's the problem with killing a pig? It probably lived a better life than many pigs in EU farms. And yes, it was cold last night, but that's a step too far Lavender27 and you know it.
  24. Rather than making such generalisations, it would be far more helpful if you noted the drivers id and registration and made a formal complaint, citing where you were (so they can track it) and time etc.
