  1. I own property but also rent, which suits me fine - due to school location, work. Also hate being in one place.... Also, once you add on all the interest - it's shocking how much a property actually costs - and well worth checking out before you start - you may find the increased deposit has an impact... If you then pay extra onto your mortgage, you need to make sure it allows you to repay towards the actual loan, rather than just pay off the interest accumulated.
  2. completely agree, Penguin... but sometimes, it needs to be a delivery
  3. so what happens if you use the equity in a BTL to put as a deposit on a residential? Is that a tax complication?
  4. Of course you should always watch where you're going. well, while it is rather annoying, it's a bit daft to say 'I shouldn't have to watch out for it'.
  5. Criteria differ for each school. Some based on proximity are measured by straight line while others are measured by 'safe walking route'. Others are based on ability and non-verbal testing will determine which band (ie score percentage) your child fits in - with selection from each band. All have priority for siblings and social needs, or religious background (ie proximity/ banding criteria become secondary).
  6. I remember listening to a woman from xxxxx (not saying) complaining that London was racist because she wasn't allowed to spit on the pavement but she could at home. I nearly choked laughing.
  7. I think it should be an Iceland.
  8. Charming. It is actually an offence. Might be worth mentioning to Southwark all the missed oppootunities in not issuing fines....
  9. thanks for letting us know - I didn;t realise this was happening.
  10. Sadly, very likely. Christmas will be over by then.....
  11. there were a lot of people living there - wonder what will happen to them? guessing no new people can come to London unless they've got serious money to start.....
  12. one suggestion would be to try transport for london journay planner (type it in to google)- you can choose the mode of transport - if there is no option for a car, choose a bus and it would highlight any traffic diversions.

But your observation > underlines how in some discussions self - interest > is only allowed to cut one way. I was being a bit sarky, really. And it IS right under my nose....
  14. no doubt, once it opens, we will all wonder how we EVER managed without it
  15. I always calll out to whoever's in the house when I leave "bye - see you in a bit" - even if it's just the cats.....or even if the cats are out...... just in case anyone's watching....
  16. I just can't imagine that poor woman asleep to only be woken up by men inside her home. Horrors.
  17. yes - I meant the Dulwich Hosital temporary site. Applications for the year 2016 entry are based on distance (crow flies) to the gate on the temporary site on the Permanent School. The fact that the children will be based in a substitute site has not bearing on the applications. The email from the school today says "Our occupation of the temporary site has no impact on our admissions criteria" (this referring to the Southampton Way site).
  18. temporary site entrance - this was confirmed to me at the meeting earlier this autumn
  19. surely, if you have a repayment mortgage then you will end up owning the property. Interest only, really - why?
  20. this is a great site. My friend at work has joined up and goes out - she thinks it's great - no pressure http://london.meetup.com/cities/gb/17/london/

  22. you could raise it with Southwark. James Barber might be interested.
  23. so ED's not so posh anymore.... maybe we could get a new betting shop (although there are nearly as many as there are pubs) Hilarious (but rather no-nice)
  24. I think they could lose the pub and focus on what the building is really required for.
