Jules-and-Boo replied to scarlettbanks's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No, really not. Everything is so far away it all looks tiny. And it is definitely not child friendly. Lots of older chaos, fireworks thrown around, it was quite scary -
East Dulwich sign - confusing
Jules-and-Boo replied to KidKruger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There’s a sign at the top of LL, it’s usual to have signs indicating boundaries. It looks like it’s changed since it was put up -

I’m sorry to hear this. please make sure you’re details are up to date on the microchip, contact all vets in the area and the dog wardens. Get in touch with DogLost and register your dog as missing. Have you connected with EastDulwichMums Facebook group? There is one for Herne Hill as well. I hope you are reunited quickly.

Beware: Parking inspectors everywhere
Jules-and-Boo replied to portioncontrol's topic in Roads & Transport
regulating parking restrictions? that's a completely valid thing to spend money on -
Poo bags should be compostable or biodegradable, but mainly just plastic. Such a shame the government doesn’t regulate single use plastic as they should, that shops sell anything and then people buy whatever without thinking long term. They’re expensive too. As a dog owner, I notice many people who cannot control their dogs ( eg recall). There should be compulsory training for people. Shameful behaviour.

have you spoken with her school? more practical things would be to get involved in school activities (and you as a parent - you can join the PTA), join clubs etc. School's harsh.

SL? Not sure what you're abbreviating and why What did the Tories manifesto say on the matter? Did it include that they would or would not introduce CPZ/ LTN (ie they ARE transparent)? or were they also silent on the matter?
-
what do you like about them? What services have they provided to you, and over what timeframe?

I didn't say it was fair. I said there are too many cars on the roads and people do not correlate traffic with their own car use, and I said that not all journeys are essential. While BB comments that outer London isn't well served by trains, it's not affecting this area. ED is in Zone 2, so relatively central and well supported by public transport. The argument is that trains should be better. They should. Indisputably. They also shouldn't be owned by investors (mainly in overseas countries) and as such driven by responsibilities (i.e. paying dividends) to shareholders.

So the Tories are calling for an MP to resign after claiming expenses for a parking fine while at work. The process has been overhauled to make it easier to follow - which is fair. Good to see the Tories now have such high standards of integrity. If they applied the same stringency to their own party, it would be a very small number remaining. How our politicians like to deflect and shine bad light on anyone, to show themselves in a better light, comparatively. We know the Tories have no respect for the people but they also think we are stupid to not see that.

LTNs are designed to reduce the traffic through residential areas. It's certainly aimed at cars. The fact that this causes high traffic volumes on other roads is proportionate to the number of cars there are.
-
It's almost not allowed to be said - it seems taboo to even criticise the number of cars There are far too many cars - far too many people who drive when they could take alternative methods of transport. There are of course people who need their cars for work or who have mobility issues but by and large it is completely unreasonable to say that all car drivers need their cars. Not everyone who chooses to not have a car is making that decision based solely on affordability. It's very easy to get around London without a car.
