  1. Fancy! We can buy online and avoid being seen in Poundland :-) Can we please have a new thread- Famous People in Poundland.... should be far more interesting than Famous People in Sainsbury's
  2. Peckham Plex also let you take your own food (so long as it's not hot) and drinks. Perfect for taking a bunch of kids or letting the teens go out and have fun. Lots of great memories there and some great audience appreciation - it's lovely to hear people cheering a fantastic movie.
  3. Picturehouse (a chain) had problems pre-pandemic due to underpaying staff and generally being a poor company We've always preferred Peckham Plex and still go, as we want to support them.
  4. It's incredibly disheartening that people's outrage is so misdirected that that the gender in books is offensive. There is so much more to be outraged about, things that actually make a difference to people living or dying.
  5. CPR Dave The government (Tory) has cut funding. This has resulted in the reduced number of police. It's really not at all possible to pretend that the Tory Government have not been responsible
  6. are you still able to get the brown bags instead of the bins? I suppose it depends on how much gardening you do and if you need to have a bin - perhaps you could do a bin share on your street and contribute between you?
  7. Is there a whatspp group for your area? Might be a better way of finding out? I'd try and find out where the dog was. Honestly, nothing worse than dogs barking non stop - they can't be happy and it's impossible to think straight. We used to have a neighbour who would leave her dog out - we used to bark at it when it was cold or it had been out for ages and then she would take it in. You can contact the council - they will want an address and evidence. Note, a dog can be kept outside if they have a house and access to food/ water.
  8. do you have fact to support that? what is the business called? do you know they don't make charitable donations? my teen was involved in a scheme like that - money went as payment to the sellers and initiatives to help teens - that was in Central. I can ask what it was called but imagine it's the same type of thing
  9. people walking past doorbell with things?
  10. get the council involved - they love anything they can fine.....
  11. It’s too tall. It should be in keeping with the area.
  12. If they'd already been informed that their application was rejected, this is just a system error which has been corrected? Surely letting employers and benefits believe that the applications had been accepted is fraud? We applied and received a letter of the result of our application so knew at that time. Maybe I'm not understanding.
  13. Hi just wondering if you check messages on here as you’ve not replied to me
  14. It would seem that the aim is to reduce the number of cars dropping kids off at school - causing congestion on the road. Getting more parents to find other ways to get kids to school is a good thing, surely. Other than those cars, it's a quiet road and not much through traffic that would be displaced.
  15. I’d be up for that!
  16. DKH - by saying that the council need the money to fund normal activity - suggests that either they do not have enough to start with OR they have spent badly OR spent on the wrong things. they should not have to sell of part of the park for part of the summer to meet basic deliverables. Traffic fines are also topping up the funding pots quite remarkably - leading back to why such levels of Top Us are required. FYI - councils get funding from central govt in form of grants.
  17. I think gas is cheaper than electricity. That's unit price and standing charges. There are guides online comparing the two different ways of heating your home
  18. The revenue lost from fare evaders is huge. Millions every year. I think they are being targeted more than passengers that make an innocent mistake. There should be more Revenue Protection Officers at stations - the station staff are not expected to intervene due to confrontation and abuse.
  19. start training early. training is ongoing and repetitive. you all need to be consistent (i.e. all do and say the same things) or the dog will not get the message eg not jumping - don't pay attention when they jump but make a fuss when they don't walking - use word like heel eg decide if the dog can sleep on your bed/ sofa from the outset - once they are on - that's it! I'd get a book or watch training videos if you need tips. enjoy your puppy! Happy days :-)
  20. Report them to the council or care less. Seems that there are no consequences for some things
  21. It is a rough area. Happened in our street too. There is so much crime, cars stolen, street mugging, vans broken into, parcels stolen from doorsteps. It goes on and on The stats should be available. Repeat crimes where perps recognised but not caught Incidents not attended by police etc
  22. Exactly. “Plugging gaps” in spending means the council have either had budgets cut by central govt and they can’t afford to do essential things or that they are wilfully overspending or spending on the wrong things. You can’t keep pouring money into a wasteful venture and expect good returns. Where is visibility of the councils spend to date versus budget and what the budgeted activity is for next year? Where are the gaps and what will the revenue generated form the gala be used for?
