  1. Heaven help us
  2. I missed that post, sorry
  3. I hope you?re not suggesting that Dominos is rat infested. That?s a pretty steep accusation. There are lots of cafes around there and that is a wild area so it?s the most natural habitat.
  4. A pedestrian area would be great. There are too many cars.
  5. OMG. Nature!!!!!! How dare it show itself
  6. why didn't you yell out the window to him to be more careful /stop at the road etc kids are not aware of the dangers
  7. have they stopped the school coaches parking and blocking the traffic?
  8. The Tory government want to increase fares and stop free travel for school children and elderly. Sadie Khan had resisted this and TFL have delivered a business plan without these concessions removed. The Toty candidate had pledged to continue these concessions but - unless he is not influenced by his own party PM, that is a blatant lie to get the votes.
  9. Great. Then hopefully the issues the OP had are now resolved.
  10. Jakido. You have to get off your bike to use a pedestrian crossing. It?s a good practise to teach your children and is the safest way to cross a road
  11. The number of cars this morning was unbelievable. Reducing the number of cars on the road should be a priority. So many reasons, you can probably roll them off without much effort
  12. Kids should always use crossings. And wait for cars to stop first. Some don?t. Have you enrolled on a cycling course? I think TfL were running them for free before the lockdown. Road awareness is paramount
  13. We complain when it?s bins in the way. Guess whatever suits is at the time is ok..... Absolutely nothing wrong with expecting people to be considerate... it works both ways.
  14. 99 is a good innings and he certainly had a full life. I feel for the Queen who had lost her husband of over 70 years.
  15. They obviously sleep all day, so face your speakers to the joining wall and play Celine Dion on repeat all day for several days. Loud. Plug yourself in to something you can bear.
  16. you can call at 8am to get an appointment on the same day. We did that yesterday (in phone queue for over 20 mins) but had a doctor's appointment the same morning. Booking in advance - no availability until mid April - so, best to get up and on the phone at 8m on the dot
  17. She?s always fine with us. Maybe you shouldn?t ask people on a public forum about her. It?s not very nice. You?ve followed the usual process so just leave it be. I?m sure you would hate it if someone asked for opinions about you.
  18. Nice thought Hamletter but my friend said they are after the NHS staff. While you say NHS doctors prefer private consultancy, that?s not entirely the case and the NHS retains many of the best doctors as they are able to do both...and they choose to work at the NHS hospitals. The new hospital will hire them exclusively and mean that that resource is not available to the NHS anymore. It?s not as rosy as you are suggesting and actually ominous for the NHS. It?s not scaremongering. It?s what?s actually going on.
  19. My friend?s a surgeon and she was explaining that usually NHS doctors move between private work and the NHS hospitals. This new one is a new set up where the doctor are only working there (ie no longer working for NHS) Just found this about it too. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/us-hospital-cleveland-clinic-london-nhs-doctors-private-sector-b924181.html
  20. Very ominous for NHS and our healthcare. Opening in the summer and recruiting doctors from NHS on US style pay packages... Literally draining resources from our underfunded NHS and increasing the division between free and private healthcare. Loving the tories.
  21. yes - I think it's the opening for much more restriction. There is a difference between a peaceful protest and a riot. Our right of protest should not be reduced on the back of the other. There is a fine balance and one group can change the dynamics, just as the police can. It doesn't mean that all protests should be covered, just because one person may find them annoying.
  22. bike theft has always been an issue. it's sensible to expect it. I'd add it to your household insurance. If you have a lockable garage, the premiums shouldn't go up massively. Motorbikes for example are chopped up so quickly and sold as parts that the police don't even look for them.
  23. That's a lot. Are the signs so poor that drivers have made an understandable error, or just drive regardless? Surely if it's the former, at that scale of penalties, there is good reason to challenge them
  24. yes - they have free reign to do what they want, with very little accountability. It's very worrying. I hope that we at least get a non Tory mayor, to prevent a full dictatorship
