  1. Thanks for posting the link with all the plans. :-) I've just read the transport plans and want to read through the rest. Are you aware of any dispute against the plans as they are?
  2. yes it is about the Health Cente, but I do just want to say - my daughter's going to the new school and - as the temporary school is on a different site - the school are encouraging 1) parents / teachers to lead groups of cyclists to the school 2) teachers to meet the children at key bus stops to walk together 3) school bus for those who live far....pick up from the ED Site There is NOTHING which encourages driving...AT ALL. I think the new school is brilliant and I'm looking foward to the site being used properly. Back to the Health Centre (sorry - but I think the parking is a distraction)
  3. saves guessing what everyone wants, too..... Lou - have you tried making G&T ice lollies?
  4. oh dear Louisa, no 'help'? THAT would have given them something to talk about. Perhaps invite them again to make amends (;-)) and borrow someone rather lovely to wait.... Joking aside, it all sounds rather formal and unfriendly for an informal dinner with friends.
  5. How about raising money through crowdfunding to get the place in tip top shape? The adventure playground in the park has a cafe and hires out for private parties....
  6. OP question sounded like a question from someone who was struggling to understand what is going on - why would anyone not want to help? I'm sorry if you think it's fun to come across as ill informed and vulnerable.
  7. back to track.... people (esp. at work) who do such a shoddy job knowing that there won't be time for them to 'learn' the task (not taht tey don't know it anyway) and correct it - thereby leaving it as a problem for someone else.... Just dishonest lack of effort and general laziness. one chap in particular, who would happily watch his colleague struggle, stay late, work weekends and pretend he was too busy to help. I've now moved into this role and it's apparent he did absolutely nothing.. he now knows I know and is very nervous at having been caught out.
  8. oh, was it just to get a reaction? how dull of you, Dover.
  9. sell your house, realise the profit from equity over your mortgage balance and buy a place outright somewhere nice. Then you would own it and wouldn't be a slave to the bank. I think you would be horrified if you actually calculated the amount you have paid for your house and mortgage. It's far far more than the purchase price.
  10. Admin - is there a cyber equivalent of the Naughty Step?
  11. well not my point at all RH - actually suggesting exploring and using your newfound love of cycling to do my than laps around the Rye.... In fact I would struggle to see how you could gleen such hostility. rendelharris Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Jules-and-Boo Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > you could even take your bike on a train and > cycle > > around somewhere new - and less busy. > > So rather than cycle round our local park - to > which after all we do contribute as council tax > payers and in which cycling is fully permitted - > being courteous, aware and respectful of other > park users and hoping for the same in return, we > should take a train elsewhere? Hmm.
  12. you could even take your bike on a train and cycle around somewhere new - and less busy.
  13. I'll second Camden Market on a Sunday - fab for pottering around and even if they've been before they will love it. If they haven't - they'll spend a good few hours exploring... It's less hectic than Town, but still busy - just 'differently busy'.
  14. Whippersnappers in Brockwell Lido do a great summer playscheme.
  15. do you have time to plan? can you arrange a day trip with a friend and a sleepover in a nice hotel /B&B? Doesn't have to be far.... lots of great places within a couple of hours of London a change of scene would make it a mini holiday.... if you stay in the house, you will either be tidying up - or feeling guilty for NOT tidying up :-)
  16. there's a song about bacon.....
  17. who said coffee? has to be tea.....
  18. sorry - I didn't think about going to the vet :-(
  19. Not very nice. Nothing you can do. Not a police related concern. The council will need to be told to move the body and look out for 'missing' signs and give them a call to let them know.
  20. Foxy - it's an M&S - hardly a bag or surprises.... While I love pottering around LL, the thought of my Saturday browsing in M&S sends shivers...
  21. I like the book idea Foxy....with local experiences....Louisa being the first!
  22. It would actually be a whole lot better if everyone stopped sniping at each other for their different opinions and accepted we are in the Post-Referendum world and things have changed/ are changing/ will change. There are many reasons for voting either way. If there was a genuine quest to understand the other point of view - fantastic - but it's not that, is it.... it's descended into criticising the other. It's not getting anywhere. It's not helpful, or productive and it's not mature. Political stability would help, but it's not something we have. Blaming each other, calling each other ignorant - how is that going to get anywhere? Talk about inciting division. It's boring. Helen Hayes rather eloquently put it thus "the strong support for Leave in parts of the UK was as much a vote against the political establishment as it was a vote against the EU.... We need to work instead on a vision for the country which addresses the concerns people have been seeking to express by supporting Leave, which unites our communities and which offers hope for the future.
  23. there are lots of photos, Jeremy...but mostly blamed on photoshop. Louisa....did you go back to the spot and stand where the nun had been? If you stand where you had stood, does the place look the same?
  24. at least it's not Foxtons
