  1. thanks ludo! going to keep my eye out. Although if your friends are able to get any, do let me know!
  2. Has anyone been? It's rather expensive to say the least, but I can't underestimate how much my teen is a Potter fan. I really want to know if it really is worth seeing Or if anyone has any contacts to get tickets at reasonable price?
  3. TIP - don't point them in the direction of the roof/ window / greenhouse / anything breakable. Think champagne cork, with more power. We blew the neighbour's roof tiles off with our rocket one year (such fun). You could go all out and have a bonfire and make jacket potatoes. Sounds great fun - enjoy and be safe. Read the precautions carefully.
  4. not random - you are obviously favoured (be cheeky and ask for a croissant) I used to get chocolate croissants and coffee when I worked at MTV (obviously thought I could get them on TV)
  5. Hilary - has to be said - that's really, really lovely of you.
  6. Helping to make shopping lists and getting the things in the shops. Sorting out the washing into colours/ whites (I did end up with piles all over my floor of colour groups - really sweet!) Tasks such as 'tidy your room' are too difficult - it needs to be; 'put the books on the shelf, put the socks in the sock drawer' and other specific things - needs to be manageable and clear to understand
  7. roll on Hallowe'en
  8. there's an incident where one clown was severely beaten for trying to scare someone.
  9. Are you confirming so we had ED residents entering the School site and fly tipping their rubbish? and the same on Peckham Rye?
  10. filling up yorkshires with whatever's on the plate and eating it like a piece of messy cake. We have a healthy respect for food.
  11. I don't think it's racist to say we don't want squatters on the site of our new school - potentially holding up the work. It just so happens they left the mess behind which is sadly a recognised behaviour. Unfortunately, by calling anyone who connects this behaviour to any other groups of travellers racist is kind of denying the obvious.
  12. clear error is paying by the week. Pay per job. The longer he takes, the more he gets paid.......
  13. Fully agree that children behaving in such a way is completely unacceptable. If that was directed at any other minority group it would be reported widely as racist. The fact that it is school children is worse. I hope the school takes it as seriously as they should. If my daughter was involved I would be mortified.
  14. we're not talking about ALL travellers. We're specifically talking on here about the travellers who have squatted on the park and the school sites and left loads of mess to be cleared. A number of people are very welcoming - and that's great. Some people are very wary. It's funny the former have all gone quiet now that that the fears have been realised. Next time travellers come to ED, we will all no doubt be split about welcoming them, tainted or not by the experience of this group.
  15. erm, it's really comments about the mess left behind and behaviours. There's a bit of a grey line in calling out racism. Or is no one allowed to condone this behaviour just in case anyone gets offended? that's part of the problem really.
  16. It's exactly why they have such a bad reputation and communities do not want them. And then there are those in our community who see the good and are welcoming, only to have this. While no one is expecting the travelers to integrate, there are certain things they should do, rather than treating land as a dump and expecting it to be cleared.
  17. cordrouy trousers and tupperware parties..... ED is trend setting without a doubt.
  18. Is the fact of the traveller's childrens' education somehow relevant to them being on the East Dulwich Charter School site? Are there children in the group that are on the land (which is private and therefore squatted)?
  19. do they cover your bottom? or have you got new pants as well?
  20. where did this speculation spring from? Are the children going to local schools?
  21. Practically, best to prepare for the worst and your phone being taken. I wouldn't advise getting into a fight over it. Take regular back ups of data (no lost photos) Regsiter with https://www.immobilise.com/ Tips on locking your phone so it can't be used - https://www.cnet.com/uk/news/android-users-can-now-lock-their-lost-devices-remotely/ If it doesn't benefit them to steal it, then it would reduce the thefts
  22. I believe it's due to start but not sure of dates. Either way, allowing a traveler's site to become more established would mean it's harder to clear later.... it would possibly get bigger too. While I'm not making comment about whether I think travelers should be there or not in general, it's better to nip it in the bud.
  23. KK - the 'rush' would be to clear the site so work can start on the new school building.
  24. we could have Fatbrad
  25. who owns the land? the new school's due to be built. also happy to add support in any way to ensure the school goes ahead without delays.
