  1. First of all, how the hell do you know how many cups of coffee they've purchased? Are you some sort of weird stalker coffee cup watcher? Stop watching them - eeeeuwww. Secondly, I know when I was self-employed and when I was looking for a job, I often took myself out to work in places like this with good wifi, because it was entirely demotivating sat in your gaff all day all night on your own. Give them a break. Thirdly, I now work for one of the largest suppliers and retail trainers of specialist food & drink retailers, and I promise you, having decent working wifi and attracting people to use it does NOT have an adverse effect on their business, it's almost entirely the opposite. For one thing, they are probably more likely to drink more cups of that coffee you talk about, than you. And fourthly, I agree with the others, just ask if you can sit next to them, afterall, you might be even able to help them with their work :)
  2. I wish it was a farmer's market! But anyway it's just my personal opinion, Brockley Market's way cooler and the market stall holders are way better looking so I buy more http://brockleymarket.com/gallery_newmarket.php and North Cross food? Hot dogs, diner food, hog roast, Vietnamese food and Mexican food - and have you have to ask what's missing? I don't want to get overly negative, cause I'm genuinely glad it's there, I just wish it was a little more vibrant and colourful and inclusive of lots of different artisan makers and producers instead of just 'no, one bakery is enough, thank you'
  3. I agree it's not easy getting a slot - my partner wanted to sell wine glasses, tumblrs and wine related accessories in the run up to Christmas and was told there were already people doing that. Uhhhm where? And in case someone from 'the powers', is reading this post - can't you make the market a little more, I don't, better....? I mean more like Brockley Market etc - filled with A LOT OF NICE THINGS particularly more food stalls? because quite frankly I think ours is an embarrassment compared to others nearby.
  4. Yep, I PM'd you too - come back Rachael where are you?????

Flaming hell, wish my dad had taken me for chips and oysters when I was a nipper. Think he took me to Harry Ramsden's once - before he upped and disappeared...
  6. Roger that, I think we're on the same page, mutual Thai food enthusiasts - hoorah! Make it properly and we'll get on just fine eh :)
  7. *chortles* Well for one it's described as Thai street food, and anyone who's ever eaten Thai street food would generally find a number of added accompaniments with which to season to taste. But that's really neither here nor there, I wouldn't expect fish sauce on the table if it wasn't noticibly absent from the Thai dish in the first place. And anyway, who cares about the fish sauce? that's the least of their problems, which generally hover around issues of price and blandness - in my humble opinion. Jeez Louise, nit picking on the fish sauce is just desperately seeking something.
  8. Flaming hell, just give me a cinema! I'll pay more if I have to.
  9. Dull, but probably cooked from decent ingredients. But in my opinion, completely and cynically over-priced and dare I say bland, little depth of flavour - shove a bunch of salt in it and they'll think it's Thai, there's not even any fish sauce on the table and their belly pork was tough as old boots. The only thing I'd order again is their morning glory, which was tasty. Very tasty. Just not ?30 a head tasty. Recommended only for middle class Dulwichites who still fear Peckham and Camberwell.
  10. We had our evening wedding reception upstairs at the EDT (East Dulwich Tavern) - used to be a members club that no one ever went to, now it's open for private functions. It's brill. And cheap. Open plan Victorian drawing room, atmospheric, they did food, we provided DJ's through the night, rip roaring fire in the corner and surrounded by candlelight. First wedding I'd been to that no one wanted to leave. Depends how fancy pants you want it.
  11. I can second both the Victoria Inn and Church Street Hotel - we used both as guest accommodation for my wedding, no complaints. Simples.
  12. do those two houses not utterly bore anyone else? no? Just me? No offence to anyone who lives in them.
  13. there's just something that makes me groan inside when I hear East Dulwichites brandishing the word "suffer" about
  14. They were literally the moodiest, dour and sour-faced customer facing people I have ever come across besides, I don't know, Roullier Whites possibly..
  15. She posted this on her facebook earlier: Hi everybody...big news today! I'm excited to announce that i'm standing for The Labour Party Parliamentary selection in Dulwich and West Norwood. I've been a Labour Party activist for 20 years. I want to bring my skills as a campaigner, entrepreneur and broadcaster to stand up, speak up and get things done. And I want Parliament to start looking more like the people it serves! Tessa Jowell has announced her retirement and has very big shoes to fill; she's an amazing MP. I'm up to the job, and i'd love your support. https://www.facebook.com/amylame?fref=ts She looks well cool. I like my politicians to actually look like they haven't got a pole stuck up their [insert appropriately], she looks a right larf! Good luck to you Amy.
  16. I wasn't able to attend unfortunately, can anyone give us a brief run down?
  17. a quick search using the words 'phone repairs' should bring up what you're looking for, I tried it this morning and it's surprisingly useful. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/search.php?5
  18. uhhhhh can we just stop banning things?!!! heavens above - rules rules rules..... I swear this town is turning into an episode of grumpy old men. Live a little, play some music after dark, sunbathe naked in your back garden, sit around a bonfire telling war stories. Whatever you do, smoke out these constant tiresome sour people, starting with that hideously surly woman in xxx and ending with pretty much all the staff in the xxx. #middleclassdramarama
  19. The trouble with East dulwich Dental Care is that Dr Bunmi is the ONLY thing it has going for it, I've been there for years, and she's the only thing that keeps me there! And while I'm on the subject, is anyone else sick to the back teeth of paying excessive charges every time you pay by card? It's ?1 whether you're paying for a check up or new mouth!

Of course you didn't!! you lived next to it during the quietest period in its history; there was practically no one in it. If indeed you've moved, how can you possibly comment on what it's like to live near it now? No one's questioning the vibrant life being breathed into it, just whether that vibrant life needs to be seen at 2am in the morning.

  22. And please, tell me that hideous racing green paint is an under-coat....
  23. ughhhh - you can imagine what it's like for the rest of us who don't have children!! if everyone stopped making babies, the rest of us could get a flaming appointment. [runs for cover]
