  1. Thanks all for the info - much appreciated.
  2. I'm very familiar and supportive of the smattering of local garden centres we have in/around SE22, but I'm seeking recommendations for larger, more cost-effective destinations to support a major overhaul of our garden, albeit without having to venture *too* far out our SE London... I've found Eden Park Garden Centre in Beckenham, which looks pretty good - does anyone know of it? All/any help welcome! Thanks.
  3. The problem with ED's pavements being covered with disgusting dog shit is not due to the lack of poo bins, but due to the selfish & inconsiderate mentality of the owners.
  4. www.magdalenrestaurant.co.uk, if you can get a table.
  5. I too just spoke with TW. The chap explained that because they're legally obliged to distribute water after 6 hours and both SE22 & SE23 are affected (I.e . A large area), their primary objective is to get it fixed within the 6 hours, which on my reckoning should be around 2pm... I guess we'll just have to wait & see!
  6. Hillcourt Road waterless too. Far from ideal. Just hope they get it sorted soon.
  7. Sadly, yet another disappointing meal. So much potential, so little quality. We will not be returning. Is it true that Keri Moss has also severed ties with the place? I don't blame her.
  8. Happy Monday all. I'm desperate to replace our current cleaner, as although she's been working for us for some time and has been asked on a number of occasions to up her game, complacency has taken hold too tightly. I'm a stickler for cleanliness & attention to detail (AKA OCD of the mild variety), so am looking for someone with good references who is reliable, hard working, and actually cares about their job. I'm not bothered about nationality, so long as communicating in English isn't a challenge! Note: I am seeking recommendations, not self promotion, so please - no touting! Hope someone can help.

  10. Has anyone had this done recently? What sort of costs are we talking? Can anyone recommend a company? We're on a road off Underhill - so impacted by the hill - and as such our ground floor is raised so there's quite a lot of excavating that would need to take place, not to mention supporting the house. Thanks.
  11. Went a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife & 4 friends. It was packed. That said, we won't be rushing back as the food was average at best, and we are spoilt with so many far better eateries in ED and the surrounding area.
  12. There was just an owl like hoot coming from the gardens behind Hillcourt Road & Overhill Road. Couldn't see the source unfortunately. I wonder!

  14. Fantastic idea, and the sooner the better! :) Asha22 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi all, > > A somewhat speculative post, however a good friend > is considering opening up a high quality Japanese > restaurant on or around Lordship Lane (subject to > finding the right site). Many thanks in advance!
  15. Went for the first time last night with the wife. It was packed - on a Wednesday! Glad we booked. We were both utterly impressed. Delicious, thought-provoking dishes. Excellent service. Really buzzy atmosphere. Good, affordable wine. We think that toastED precisely represents what ED needed in the way of a new eatery, and hope that it proves to be the catalyst for more, independent restaurants/restaurateurs to follow suit. Can't wait to return!

  21. Difficult to tell. Looks like mine have a black head/fore-body, an orange mid/lower body, and a white (tipped) tail. Can't easily identify them online, nor get a decent pic. I'll persevere... fl0wer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Leave them alone, it'll be fine. > > Someone will come on line soon mentioning things > called Wall Bees, so you might as well look them > up for differentiation images.
