  1. For the first time in ages me and MrsC went out together last night, to a proper house party, and I snaffled a few too many glasses of wine and ended up with a minor hangover. Trouble is, although we did everything right, ie got a babysitter and arranged for a taxi, we obviously forgot to tell the little ones we would be up late. The cherubs proceeded to wake, unreasonably, at 6.15 before rampaging into our room and jumping all over us. It was, for my sins, my turn, so I have spent most of the day squiffy in charge of children.
  2. Our family (me, MrsC + 2 boys aged 4 and 2) spent this lunchtime swimming in the pool at The Bridge leisure centre near the Sainsbury's Savacentre in lower Sydenham. For the whole half hour of our session we were the only people in the training pool - an entire pool to ourselves! We go there from time to time and is is quite quiet but its never been this bad(or do I mean good). Does anyone else on here use this pool?
  3. Yep, we too have had two. We had them both at the Dulwich Constitutional Club on East Dulwich Grove. The first one was was with a Humanist celebrant, the second we just did ourselves with readings from friends and relatives. Both were thoroghly lovely. We got the Humanist Society book too and found it useful.
  4. No Jeremy, they're talking about the other Phil Collins, the one that plays at the Dog and Duck every other Thursday lunchtime - the one who plays the mean kazoo.
  5. Sounds like a grand idea and would love to be there but now transport today so we're restricted to walking distance or bus route destinations. Dulwich Park here we come!
  6. Is this a sad battle to see which first succumbs to extiction?
  7. Yep, that is a really annoying one, Brum. And also I get annoyed when the cashier won't take your debit card to put it in the machine and makes you do it, thus putting you in that unwanted position of flailing around nervously as you try to ensure you slot it in correctly. The blasted cashier does it all sodding day and knows the way the card goes in. Also, invariably, if I put my card in, I forget to take it. I want them to take my card at the beginning of the transcation and then hand it back at the end to complete the transaction. Simple.
  8. again.... oh well, have to find myself over at Mic Mac's Friday night Dad's Club...
  9. "Rory (3 months) and I (a bit older) are enjoying our walks together especially now it's sunny...." Mockers, always thought your progeny would be something special, but walking at three months....gee!
  10. Had to walk home from work today but at least it gave me the opportunity to do a entirely scientific spot of research into the drivers of cars sporting the Cross of St. George Flags. Driver one: plump English whelk. Driver two: plump English whelk Driver three: plump English whelk (with tattoo) Driver four; plump English whelk (with beard) Driver five: plump English whelk (female) anon, anon.......
  11. Question of the day; how are houses different from cars? Or ballpoint pens for that matter.
  12. Is anyone else brought to the very point of apoplexy by those supid nozzles on cleaning fluid bottle that allow the nozzle to be closed?
  13. Of course that decision will not have been made simply on the fact that there were 80 chilren putting it down as first choice. No doubt Southwark have foeseen a problem in this area and have gone around their schools pleading to see who can accomodate more this year.
  14. Further training needed, methinks: Burning the toast
  15. A pot for 17 hungry young men.
  16. Surely, Sophie, "Where's ME Jumper?"
  17. Is that a song about birds that are really, really small *Bob*?
  18. I love Jacks and am sad that since they started closing on Saturdays I cannot get there any more. The most accomodating local places I find are The Pavilion Cafe, Peckham Rye Park Cafe, Mon Petit Chou. Luca's and Blue Mountain can be fine especially if you get a garden spot. From time to time I get over to Petitou in Peckham and that is lovely too. Cafe 2050 on Forest Hill Road is a hidden gem. So, there you go, I like stopping for a cuppa with my little ones.
  19. When I went last year, there was a sign on the gates to the park saying that you were able to use the toilets in the pub.
  20. Sultans of Ping FC. I played their first LP "Casual Sex in the Cineplex" for the first time in ages the other day (on a C90 cassette) and it sounded as thrilling and vibrant as ever.
  21. And which part of East Dulwich is France actually in?
  22. ...anyone planning on going to any of the events? Dulwich Festival
  23. Welcome back and hope you have a pleasant afternoon. ED park Louisa? Now where exactly is that?
  24. Stevenage are finally in the League. Well done lads.
  25. Hi, Molly - thanks for the morning - we finally got home, after picnic and play with yet more friends, at half fourish.
