  1. My office has made no allowance and no free beers. (But I have a bottle of wine and access to a TV)
  2. jimmy2X careful with your mention of big Ron - your own top and bottom are a bit black and white.
  3. OK, not Lennon. Walcott. Doh!
  4. Quids - that is what I'd like, but not what I expect. You are closer to the mark, I'm sure. That Yakubu miss in the Nigeria game. Sublime!
  5. Official team sheet for Wednesday GKl; James RB: Johnson CB; Terry CB; Dawson LB; Ashley Cole RM: Lennon CM; Barry CM; Gerrard CM; Lampard LM: Joe Cole CF; Rooney signed F. Capello
  6. Hats off to him - holding on when others fell away was a great achievement. Heard his interview on the radio - never heard a Irish/Florida accent before. Is he as Irish as Jan Molby is Danish?
  7. 0ne-all then, Piers?
  8. Worried that this is fast becoming the "..a joke" thread. Biggest one being England...
  9. My favourite part of the thread so far was in the opening post when jrussel barked, "...they made themselves pregnant."
  10. Thank goodness for Sapin and France. Now if England lose tonight it won't look quite so shameful.
  11. And with those two comprehensive posts we should be the end of that. However, my guess is that someone will come on bleating about missing a appointment because they were a couple of minutes late.
  12. I think most people would agree that a GP practice has the right to have a rule about appointment times. They have to have a cut-off point somewhere. If they choose it to be one-minute late then so be it. Next time you make an appointment aim to get there 10 minutes before the appointment. Take a good book.
  13. A coherent and thorough post, Dom. Trust that everyone can move forward in the spirit you suggest.
  14. I do a lot of walking around East Dulwich and love looking at the gardens. There are nice ones pretty much everywhere. There's a great one on Dunstan's Road with a brick built motorcycle garage and some huge ceramic demijohns. Brendan; behave.
  15. Yes, but even in English changing just one letter will change the whole meaning of a worm.
  16. Er, perhaps not LM - it's a lovley little spot for a quiet family picnic but no good for a forum rabble who might frighten the ducks! Remember there will be a frisbee, assorted dangerous foodstuffs and, I dare say, some booze. I'd opt for a spot on the Common in front of the cafe or by the children's playground in the park.
  17. And the turtles too. And the big fish. That part of the Japanese Garden is our favourite little spot too. And dogs are allowed, on a short leash.
  18. Hi emc, if you are offering this without having to sell our souls to TV as part of the deal, then we're in.
  19. That's the two-a-side team; England First 11 = Howler Bluster Harrass Hoofit Dicks Thugger Batty Gettim Rush Blunder Fowler
  20. idm. really hope your dad pulls through this with no long term damage - horrible time for you and your family. My thoughts are with you. CourtLaner said "DJKillaQueen (and everyone).....No idea where you got your info from, maybe chinese whispers. There was no police chase, not even a police vehicle involved. There was an off duty officer in a car behind the accident who got involved. Big and important difference." Thanks for trying to clarify things by countering other people's information. To make it even clearer, could you state your sources for your information. Cheers
  21. Picnic on Peckham Rye, Saturday 17th July - Katie, it's in my diary. See you there. (It'll be me, my two little ones, a frisbee and a bucket of Turkey Twizzlers!
  22. Just wanted to give a huge vote of thanks, a couple of frisky cheek kisses, a fraternal high five and one great big bear hug to Those-who-set-up-this-here-Forum. Been too much ill-feeling on here of late; it is clouding things a little. The Forum has given me, for one: The brilliance of Ted Max The wit of Honaloochi Knockabout Limericks with Tilly Countless interesting debates A Bucketful of Laughs Suggestions for films to watch and music to listen to The pure indulgence of the Quiet Room (it started with a cough...) and.. The genius that is *Bob* And on top of that it's given me plenty of great night's out in the pub with people like Sean, Moos, David, Jah, Keef, Michael P et al who I met through this place. A virtual community that's become a real community. Thanks folks.
  23. I've read OJ in the guardian a few times and...er, I usually quite like what he says. I'm no expert on him but I tend to think of his work generally as a critique of how Capitalist society is set up, rather than an attempt to make individuals feel guilty. I think he is empathising with the way we all have to struggle to bestow love, and, more importantly, time on our kids. I read enough of OJ's book "Affluenza" so appreciate that his stance in life is anti-capitalist. He hates how it turns us into consumers and materialsts. Maybe it is a touch too hippy and psycho-babble and galling coming from someone with his background but when he is giving that advice I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt. His heart is in the right place. Agree with poppy re the general good home/plenty of love/good diet equals happy kids scenario
  24. Please God, get those infernal trumpets banished. bbc
