  1. There, I knew it, I list four incredible vocalists to keep my stock as cool as you like, then try to sneak Apple's dad in and still Mockney searches me out and shoots me down. Godammit; are those tears I cry when I hear "Yellow" not authentic? Sorry that I only do mainstream, I try to get out and about in the musical hinterland but my sorties are less far-flung and exploratory than yours. OK, I concede, Martin is the zillionth best singer in the land. Instead I give you someone that you surely won't think is bland; Dido!
  2. Right now I'm listening to "Station Approach" by Elbow. God I love it. But it's about the 68th time in a row I've listened to "Leaders of the Free World". Before that I played "Seldom Seen Kid" 47 times on the trot. Can anyone make a suggestion that might heave me out of my Elbow inspired misery?
  3. "Gail Ann Dorsey ripping the tits off Under Pressure Pisses all over Annie Lennox" Giggirl, let's hope the video hasn't made it to YouTube.
  4. Yep, seen him in action - how could I forget! He lost out to a bloke singing about a frisky bear in the Wishing Well Karaoke so clearly can't be that good!
  5. I'm probably not alone in being slightly piqued that I have never been on a paid-for weekend beano, complete with bonding activities and sherry receptions at 7.05pm in swanky hotel. Not that I would actually enjoy the false bonhomie, it's just that I have missed out on being able to carp about it afterwards.
  6. These singers can often send a shiver down my spine Guy Garvey PJ Harvey Bjork Anthony Hegarty Martin Chris - from Playcold. (clue - this is cryptic since I cannot type it directly due to Forum By-laws)
  7. I don't know about storing all my important docs, photos and downloads in the cloud. But I do know that that my head has been in there for ever.
  8. The Pavilion Cafe in Dulwich Park do parties. We had one there - perfect. You'll have to check whether it is still available now its the summer hols!
  9. Yep, in many ways, like my annoying insistence on washing up the pots before we sit down to dinner and my irritating habit of telling my partner that the flowers/trees/sunset looks beautiful, I am too much like my mum - a bit of a worry since I'm a bloke.
  10. Got to see "Inside I'm Dancing" last night. It's good in a soft/serious way - I'd recommend. James McAvoy into the bargain. But he's in everything at the minute. Like Clive bloody Owen, both as endemic as swine flu
  11. The new incarnation looks good and is a great improvement. I like the little "fence" outside that marks out the drinking territory. (or perhaps hides the punters' beer bellies from passers-by. Maybe a if the Forum drinks reaches the CPT in the autumn we can give the Castle another chance and start off with a sly one there.
  12. One of the little lessons that we should all learn as parents (but never do) is to "go with the flow". I remember deperately trying anything to keep my first born's morning nap going for as long as possible before finally realising that it was over. I was only allowed to mourn the loss of that cherished moment of quiet for a couple of days; by then I had got completely taken up by the new regime of no-sleep mornings. Just go with the flow, charlottep. Puts you in a better position to face whatever is the next big change.
  13. This is me playing a demonstration shot: bunker
  14. But they were right to give him out as penance for that stupid shot in Cardiff. BTW England get more than 300 in a day and everyone is bemoaning. Brendan has it right, it's an more than decent position. Oh, drat, just remembered, nobody ever listens to Brendan.
  15. I light of all the recent hand wringing on here, this is worth noting; Killings down
  16. That's long but it's decidedly not the longest post ever. I'm going to pray to the gods to summon the collective spirits of Mockney, Sean, Keef et al and soon a definitive answer will be posted.
  17. I want to leave my errors in, but sometimes edit because I can't do that clever-arse strikethrough thing.
  18. If woof had missed the 'l' rather than the second 'c' from the thread title, I'd have said he was half way to blotto when he started this.

    Morrissey

Hope you didn't Laugh out Loud to his face Easties - though I can see why you'd be tempted - you might have ended up having a thorn in your side. Morrisey - the last single was, I must say, brilliant, proving that Morrisey can still write a damn fine tune, but some bands/singers date better than others and with The Smiths there was, as red devil says, a time and a place. If I ever hear any tracks on the radio, my mind turns to nostalgia setting.

    LOL Posts

But Ted, it was also blooming funny before you told me that.
  21. I posted a clip of that scene on a thread on here about favourite scenes from the movies. Stunningly powerful.
  22. I've been in this cafe twice now and think it is a little gem of a place. Pretty lovely in every aspect. Wish them all the very best.
  23. Just checking to see if anyone will be in Peckham Rye Park around 1.30 tomorrow. I'll be there with my 21 month old boy. Outside Cafe or in Pic-nic area?
  24. Just wondering if anyone is up for meeting on Weds at Peckham Rye Park? I'll be dropping my 4 yr-old off at nursery at one so could be in the park around 1.20 with my 21 month old. Weather forecast looks good. citizen
  25. I think I can say that I have never read through an entire TLS post. It's the form and content argument, the structure and style of his prose entirely obscures any meaningful point he wants to make. Read everyone else's responses and you know precisely what Tony has said. Actually, you can pretty much just read Tony's username and you know...
