    cv's

Has anyone an idea as to how a good cv looks? I think mine is dated, especially since I am starting a new career-as a TEFL teacher. Limited experiecne but 25 years working in a business profession before that. Does everyone put a photo at the top of theirs? My first attempt has not opened any doors- so welcome any POSITIVE suggestions. Many thanks
  5. Halifax make a big fuss- we got a calculator and piggy bank a few years ago.
  6. What about the place where you paint a mug etc they fire it and you collect later? Isit all fired up?
  7. We alwayscoverd the party table with the back of wall paper and put pots of crayons out so they can draw on the paper.
  8. I htink it depends how much reserve funds you have. Its true there is very little well paid work out there. Always easier to get a job when you have a job already. Can you take some holiday instead? I think you need to factor in at least 3 months of not working. Pretty unlikely to earn as much as you do now- assuming you have not had to take a pay cut already- you might be looking at a 25-35% pay cut.
  9. They need that Palozzi woman on the case.
  10. What will the dress code be for us?
  11. In October- are we talking Roll away the Stone Ian Hunter??
  12. Vickster I am worried about your take on family celebrations. a 25th wedding anniversary? why on earth not ?
  13. i think good bikes are shipped straight out of the country or disassembled and remade. :(
  14. I think he is overrated myself. Yes he had an eye/ empathy- but if he had not been paid by the word his books would be the better for it. There- I've said it- BBC's radio coverage of it is OTT.
  15. My mum and Dad always did - I think its nice to come down -in the summer anyway- and have the sun coming in through the windows. I think I was thinking a burglar would be seen from outside by a passing policeman- ( with his swag bag over his shoulder and torch)and if you look through our window- you would not think " wow" worth breaking into- but what do I know?
  16. So yes, lights off, tv off, doors locked- do you open the living room curtains or keep them closed? Bit of a battle going on here. What is better for security? Views welcome.
  17. My brother fell down the stairs when he was 1.5yrs and it was not good. I would try to get one at the top if you can. Its not just your children its visiting ones too.
  18. Maybe this will have a silver lining as you see them often enough you will be able to ask if you can leave your daughter with them when you go away to celebrate your wedding anniversary- we all know how important these occasions are and how much we all like to mark them - albeit in different ways....;-)
  19. I assume your in laws are paying for the lunch? In which case then I think you should take a present. It is a celebration of their marraige which brought about your husband. When you have been married 40 years you realise you may not both be in goodhealth in 10 years time and it is best to celebrate the good times. The present thing is somehting else that really is part of your husbands family culture. SOme parents would say no presents- but sometimes they know their families want to buy somehting and then its best to suggest something that they would like - not a cut class red vase etc etc. You are lucky its Bedford-it is occasions like this that keep a family together- even thougth they feel a pain at the time. I promise- Can you get the City Thames link from HErne hIll to Bedford? Neither my parents or in laws made it to 50 years of marraige due to one of them dying- I would have loved a chance to celebrate.

  21. I am goign to have to make this now! David are the anchovies that are marinated ok to stuff in??
