  1. MInder, I am 100% certain that that is the long term aim of government. We will have to pay to park on the street and there will be an extra levy on you if you have off street parking. Allpartof the green and sustainable agenda.
  2. Reading the treads on this forum it looks as if everyone waxes- is this true?- or are there others that can't face the cost/ pain- whats wrong with the lady razor. Are waxers disproportionately representd on this forum??
  3. I would have thought to the average domestic user in London a hosepipe ban would have no effect whatsoever.
  4. It should make a differnce in value- it does in Central London. If you have an informed estate agent they should recognise this fact. Some depends on what ground rent and service charge you pay now. If you have 2 identical falts for sale - one freehold and one paying ?500 pa ground rent- then technically the freehold one is worth circa ?10 k more. Then if the leasehold has a high service charge ( ?120 light bulbs add up) of saY ?1000 per flat- but you can show you have improved the management costs- but not at the cost of dropping maintetnace/ sinking funds - then this should add value too. However if the potential buyers are uninformed and particularly the local agents then this will not always be picked up.
  5. People that go to Kings have always parked in the surrounding roads. If you choose to buy a house in that area you must know this and take it in to account.
  6. I think cycling would be ok- and rowing! the cross trainer in the gym too. These are all for burning calories though- not for toning your inside up.
  7. yep the rules all changed.if buying the freehold you do not even have to have owned it for 2 years.
  8. You dont have to live in the flat to buy the freehold
  9. is there a charity that wants our old analogue tvs? do they work in France for examnple ( not that I am saying France is a charity!!!)? I have an old portable I was goign to put outside my house and see whether someone take a shine to it.............
  10. if you possibly can get an au pair- even if it means losing a room to them.
  11. Thanks silly woman. Of course you can't say no- if they have the money-its just the being sensible bit. I just want to make sure they look after each other- and get the tickets from a legitimate source.
  12. Tiddles- thanks- you know when they decide on something its hard to change their minds..... I had a feeling it was more hardcore too- but not sure why.Maybe I'll post in the lounge too.
  13. So 16 yr old wants to go to his first festival this summer- tickets seems very expensive- are there any specific things we should think about before saying yes- other than the usual ? I seem to remember there were some dodgy tickets one year?
  14. you cannot have a crush on a man who is so up his own xrse as to write those letters about underwear to m and s
  15. If you go in the summer you really ought to try and go to the open air opera house in Verona. The atmosphere is amazing. Its not cheap but it is So ITALIAN. God love them all.
  16. Maybe its so they can watch children enjoy them selves on the swings.
  17. Sermione is at the botton of lake garda and has fast trains to Verona and venice. It is very pretty- but might be a bit pricey. You can get boat trips around the lake.
  18. Theres always a burka..................
  19. good paint is not cheap. sounds ok to me
  20. It is relatively busy and noisy in rush hours. The houses at the HErne Hill end are pretty big. I think the prices reflect they are on a busier rd than say Burbage rd, but in my opinion it is a safer rd. The 37 goes past and it is safer walking back on this road than the surrounding quieter rds. You can check the police web sites for statistics. I dont think houses sell very often because they are big family houses and people live there for a long time.
  21. what did he say the survey was about?
  22. I think we should run a sweep stake on this. I suspect a package from Boris.
  23. I think you need to clear this early on. In all the years of having babysitters we have always checked how they are getting home- one of us has driven them home if necessary. I would not feel happy if you are young or an aupair and were walking home by yourself that late at night. My son now babysits and has a bike.
  24. you can buy normal red food colouring in sainsburys D K Hill. Its pretty strong stuff.
