  1. But we all know which schools will get the best academic results because they are the hardest to get into. If you start with very motivated results driven children and parents then this is what you will get- give or take the cases of anorexia / breakdown / depression on the way. It is ridiculous to look at the results wihtout realising that they are a result of what is fed into each school in the first place. AS a nation we are not obsessed at all, it is just small pockets of people who have a choice , especially in London who are obsessed. Money of course gives you more choice.
  2. dep. what you want but maybe a student house in a seaside resort? may be empty mid june to early October? you would have to ask local letting agents to find out more. you can def do a seasonal let in a european ski resort. not sure you would be interested in a static caravan?
  3. These 2 schools are very selective in their intake. 14th or 19th nationally would not be a reason to choose between the 2. If your child it lucky enough to get in they will probably do very well academically. There are other things to consider and I don't think 14th or 19th would be a consideration for anyone as to choice. Issues such as single sex/ mixed/ facilities/ sports/ music/ ethos are more important at this end of the tables.
  4. if you were an estate agent and you had 2 flats to sell at the same commission rate and one vendor said they would pay you a ?250 cash bonus for selling their flat wouldn't you try that little but harder? or you could say to them you will pay extra to have your property in the local papers / website as the property of the week. its just business. Its how people work.
  5. No dissing Brad-I'm sure he was clean.
  6. you can get a cheap set from sainsburys with a marker pen that you just iron on. If for little children they grow so quick the sewing on is hard work.
  7. Addy, try and link this to the recommended / business section if you can, I am sure lots of people would like you to come for a few hours and work your way through their shirts etc. Good luck.
  8. Addy is a lovely ironer- a little slow but ironed to perfection. Very tidy and polite. Recommend him.
  9. Addy- are you coming this morning to iron?
  10. you could always offer a personal cash bonus to whichever negotiator completed a sale on it within Hart.
  11. We went to see the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime last night at the National. I think it may have sold out, but if you get a chance to see it , it is brilliant. As well as the amazing acting, the set/ lighting/ choreography/ sound are brilliant.
  12. I think the new mattress is a relatively new piece of advice and lots of other people would be intersted in it. Maybe a womans refuge, or if you are handy then cover it and make a big cushion for outside?
  13. must be.thanks.

  16. so your olymoics ticket does/ doesn not cover the cable car? I'm confused?
  17. Is that right?Hunger Games? isn't that a bit scary? When my family read The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings etc they were not brand new.But they were 14 ish? I know what you mean about old hat but they are age appropriate- Noughts and crosses by Mallory Blackman? The Eoin Colfer books are really good for that age - I think.The Artemis Fowl series but there are others- especially with strong girl characters.
  18. Maybe Harry Potter? Its always good to read something when you are familiar with the subject- assuming she has seen the films in French?
  19. oh dear- did you have to : a) go to hospital; b) go straight to your highly equiped first aid kit; c) search the house for a packet of plasters while swearing profusely;
  20. why oh why drag him up? its 2012. Can't we all move on? He is not a national treasure. ( but everything else was great :))
