  1. If you are a single parent can't you eat with your 4 year old? eating should be a social occasion where possible. This is the hardest bit though- I'm sorry you dont have anyone to help you though.
  2. My son managed to lose his bike and locker keys/usb stick and oystercard on the top of the 185 at about 5pm - heading from dulwich to victoria- any ideas where to go and try and find them?? iseem to remember a post about this some time ago.
  3. were train dealys victoria to herne hill line- and it was not pleasant!
  4. id try and leave london before 1030 but after 930 am. 6 hours is the quickest I would think. we would do A303, but it can get very heavy with traffic- especially if there are any festivals nearwhere you are going.
  5. so whats the advice if you are paid in euros???- but 80% of your expenditure is in the uk???
  6. Another one bites the dust- Queen
  7. im sure your builder can give you a good idea. things to think about are - a 5 bed house and 1 bath not a good idea-need another bath/ shower-you would need a bigger boiler etc to service it- it will cost more to heat- insure - council tax etc. on the other hand you could let out a room- maybe with ensuite- and get a good rent- say ?120 a week- which say ?6000 pa will pay the extra cost back..........
  8. loz, you are a very honest person. :))
  9. but why would you?
  10. can you put the pilow under the mattress just to lift that end of the cot?
  11. sorting out a pension-..................
  12. i think little treats like manicures and reflexology are nice- if you can go anddo it yourself that is even nicer. It all depends what the illness is- i have a friend who does reflexology to someone who is in an almost vegatative state, but the person paying here thinks it is doing some good.
  13. you could go through it and just rip the top off - wiht your address and account details- and recycle the rest one week- thats what I did. then i tore the top corner off which was my address and recycled the following week- and then i was left with 10% of what i started with and I burnt on the fire/ tore up into even smaller bits. i did try shredding with my work shredder buts its hopeless. alternatively there are companies that specialise in secure disposal - we sent 100 bags from work but i think thats expensive- the companies give you special bags to fill and take away. I cant remember the name sorry.
  14. of course teachers pensions are costing us all that pay tax. we are putting in for them.
  15. if you are going to drive to lessons, there is always the chance you baby will fall asleep on the way home.
  16. i am happy to vent my thoughts at having a 10% pay cut in the past 2 years and a 25% cut in pension contributions from my employer and the threat of redundancy pay at the statutory rate. bitter ?me??
  17. i was there last week...it was open with a queue...
  18. I live in a busy house so always people around so not an issue, but if I lived by myself I might feel differently- especially if I had had a bad experience.
  19. I would like to chip in and say that there are a generation ( at least) of men that do not clean. I have 2 sons and they were issued with dustpans and brush toy sets at an early age, and they used to clean/ tidy with me. From school/ nursery age they can spray the cleaning stuff (like a gun- how handy) and i used to polish/ rub. I just think you are educating them. I would hate them to leave home thinking these jobs are done by someone else. Any future wives/ girlfriends would take a dim view. Nothing to do with sahm / not- we are the parents and we need to educate our children in life skills as well as reading. if they have to clean up sometimes, maybe they would not be so messy in the first place. I have seen too many arrogant teenagers- boys and girls who leave their mums especially to work around them.
  20. lombok? thats thai though- but in Herne Hill.
  21. If you live here you just have to be street wise, i try and take a nectar card and visa card to sainsburys- if fact when i go out i try and stick stuff in my front pocket instead- its really bad for your back/ shoulder to carry all that stuff and a bag everywhere. But hten maybe the ospeopath is robbing me;-)
  22. Now that the western side of the congestion gone the route down park lane is much better. I sometimes drive back from swiss cottage leaving there at 5pm and back in Dulwich usually in an hour ( once it took 40 mins). But if the Obamas are in town/ Royal Garden Party/flooding on the embankment it has taken 2 hours.
  23. This is how I look today. What does everyone else look like?
  24. The only phrase I remember my grandad regularly used was "when its brown its done, when its black its bxggered"- to be said with a Derbyshire accent.Usually when cooking.
