  1. Has anyone else been caught out with the 20 mph camera? I must admit I was probably exceeding 20 mph, but not by much. I feel bad that in 25 years of driving in London I have never seen any signs , I wondered if anyone has successfully been let off? 3 points for doing 25 mph seems steep . Any assistance welcome. Thanks
  2. I assume you have already read "Eats shoots and leaves" it comes with a set of apostrophe stickers etc.
  3. is the one on dog kennel hill free? if so they should charge non - southwark residents to use it ;)

  6. what about dads?? what do you think about them ? my dad def changed once my mum had died, his whole attitude to children was always good, but after mum died, he said there was no point making an issue about 99% of stuff, which was not important in the long run.
  7. herne hill has a lift, not sure about b south, but people usually offer to help you dont they??

  9. because italians are jolly friendly people who appreciate food and make you feel good when you go out.???it is a positive experience. the food is generally nice the atmosphere is lovely. Please dont tell me a chinese restaurant can compare with this.
  10. we went sat night and enjoyed the buzz and friendly german waitress, who commutes from eastham . the food was good, but not amazing, but seemed right for the price. complimentary limoncellos at the end, so good customer care too.A welcome addition to the village, we looked at cafe rouge on the way home and it looked so lifeless in comparison.
  11. i walked past it today. looks more like a beach to me, a dismal amount of water - why couldnt they leave it as a paddling pool?
  12. that will be the local tax on fags then ;)
  13. why mccolls cant link up with the post office and make one pleasant shop is beyond me. staff lovely, premises terrible.
  14. i am guessing you have a daughter? my son at that age was not remotely interested in clothes so this would not have worked. i really think it depends on how much they are costing you and how much you give them already and how much extra they can earn through household chores. 12 seeems quite young for clothes though. my son at that age would not have needed more than ?10 a month for going out, but some children are very social and it depends on their peer group. can you ask one of their freinds parents?
  15. how long do you want to do it in?
  16. i do think our parents were much stricter with us than we are with our children. so many times i was sent to bed with no food for misbehaving and not allowed back downstairs. lots of slaps and now this kind of behaviour is not acceptable. We tend to treat our children more as eauals and this is hard for our parents to understand. But it will get better. Promise/
  17. just go and get your tunnocks logs and teacakes and all will be fine.
  18. but we still love you.- apart form the ones in brockwell park every sunny morning and evening...esp around the shelter ( pinches nose)once the sun has been on it.

  20. what a lovely idea about the seeds.
  21. you would both need solicitors, its one one those crazy things where the costs of doing it can be more than the value of it. There was a thread on this a while back, you could try searching for it somewhere here.
  22. I thought this was strongly discouraged at schools, as it embarrasses those parents that cannot afford it.
  23. I think the idea is that they are young people and if all your food and bills are included, the ?60 is your "fun/leisure money". i provided all my aupairs with memebership of jags and a bicycle. They should go to english lessons which may be 5 hours plus a week, and the rest of the time I have hellped them get little extra jobs, often looking after friends yourger children/ babysitting or sometiems cleaning where they might earn ?8-?10 an hour, and they might earn ?50 plus a week. But really thery are here to be part of your family, and if for example, we all went to the coast for the day the au pair is offered the cahnce to come too where we but there food/ ice creams etc The english lessons can vary between free to a lot more- depending how much they want. However very hard to find lessons in the summer holidays. Some people do not treat their au pairs like this. Many an au pair has been sat at my kitchen table crying about the family she works for.
  24. ill walk past tomorrow then Falklands, just to see how the other half live ;-)
