  7. why dont you explain to the owner about the benefits of googling a name. and a street? that should narrowit down.
  8. i think you need to think about having some continuity for your child too. it is unsettling for them to see someone 3 days a week for several month s( say) and then not see them for a few months. eventually you may find an au pair is better as you son is older ( if you have the room).
  9. Has anyone else been caught out with the 20 mph camera? I must admit I was probably exceeding 20 mph, but not by much. I feel bad that in 25 years of driving in London I have never seen any signs , I wondered if anyone has successfully been let off? 3 points for doing 25 mph seems steep . Any assistance welcome. Thanks
  10. I assume you have already read "Eats shoots and leaves" it comes with a set of apostrophe stickers etc.
  11. is the one on dog kennel hill free? if so they should charge non - southwark residents to use it ;)

  13. oooh err- nom de plume-aren't you posting under the wrong thread- something like faux pas...
  14. what about dads?? what do you think about them ? my dad def changed once my mum had died, his whole attitude to children was always good, but after mum died, he said there was no point making an issue about 99% of stuff, which was not important in the long run.

  17. because italians are jolly friendly people who appreciate food and make you feel good when you go out.???it is a positive experience. the food is generally nice the atmosphere is lovely. Please dont tell me a chinese restaurant can compare with this.
  18. we went sat night and enjoyed the buzz and friendly german waitress, who commutes from eastham . the food was good, but not amazing, but seemed right for the price. complimentary limoncellos at the end, so good customer care too.A welcome addition to the village, we looked at cafe rouge on the way home and it looked so lifeless in comparison.
  19. i walked past it today. looks more like a beach to me, a dismal amount of water - why couldnt they leave it as a paddling pool?
  20. that will be the local tax on fags then ;)
  21. why mccolls cant link up with the post office and make one pleasant shop is beyond me. staff lovely, premises terrible.
  22. i am guessing you have a daughter? my son at that age was not remotely interested in clothes so this would not have worked. i really think it depends on how much they are costing you and how much you give them already and how much extra they can earn through household chores. 12 seeems quite young for clothes though. my son at that age would not have needed more than ?10 a month for going out, but some children are very social and it depends on their peer group. can you ask one of their freinds parents?
  23. how long do you want to do it in?
  24. i do think our parents were much stricter with us than we are with our children. so many times i was sent to bed with no food for misbehaving and not allowed back downstairs. lots of slaps and now this kind of behaviour is not acceptable. We tend to treat our children more as eauals and this is hard for our parents to understand. But it will get better. Promise/
