  1. you can def bath in the kitchen sink to begin with, but you need a good size washing up bowl. in fact i did this when my son was 6 weeks old at grannies house, so dont rush into anything.
  2. when you are weaning aren't you still meant to give baby rice which is rich in iron? ( mixed with milk)
  3. the cafe in the park itself is really good. not sure if olleys is open today, maybe not the kind of tea you were looking for..
  4. you can always give baby stuff to kings
  5. i think part of the problem is that public housing stock is set at a higher standard than private. i think for example they all have to be double glazed, and whilst private sector might do this there is no compulsion, so in its desire to raising standards public sector housing has kind of shot itself in the foot, as they do not have the funds to do so.
  6. how much bought fresh coffee to go do people drink on average? we have a cafetiere at work and a kitty for "real coffee",and i allow myself homemade the same at weekends, but I thought maybe the fashion had died out? I know working in swiss cottage puts me at a bit of a disadvantage here, but do lots of people still buy a coffee everyday to take away? just curious.
  7. quite often "single " men of this age can be found with their children on a sunday morning at the park, having their weekly access . Dulwich Park particularly bad/good for this. Alternatively they are starting a middle age crisis and buying some kind of bicycle, and participating in some group cycling/posing.
  8. i love fruitcake with a big slab of cheese, everyone else in my house hates it.
  9. pancakes are lovely too. althought my au pairs always made much nicer ones than I ever could.
  10. give me a custard slice anyday.
  11. Your MIL sounds fab. Things change all the time, and whilst your mums attitude to looking after your son is not the same as yours, by the time he is a bit older it may seem great. Alos she is working ful time with a 6 year old? sounds pretty generous to even think of offering to babysit this special weekend. I think you have to think long term, you will fell sensitive about your history at the moment, having a second baby sounds like it will be tricky, but in the long term you are lucky that she has offered- albeit on terms you don't like, but when your oldest is say 3, and hopefully eating and sleeping in a normal bed then that is when she will come into her own. Play the long game, you are lucky to have a mum and MIL within 1.5 hours. Please stay in touch with her- maybe you can send her a weekly / monthly e mail to keep in touch.
  12. yep- 817 calories in a Fiorentina from Pizza express, so I think you are looking at a meal of 2000 calories- assuming you have diet irn bru ( bit its not as nice).
  13. Rocca are missing a trick for morning coffees- no cakes or pastries- I did not fancy a tiramisu with my coffee.
  14. you could win a pub quiz if you read everything on here ;)
  15. Norway is so beautiful there are no crowds, its not cheap , but not expensive unless you drink alcohol!!The scenery comes free and its so uncommercial, go now before it gets too busy. :)
  16. you might find the etsy web site better for your wares?
  17. cant she go and see a match maker? apparently that how its done in some places, my colleague at work got his mum and dad to sort it all out for him. so much easier for him.
  18. if you were a woman they would have said something like," be careful being out this late at night", and driven off.
  19. i think thats it Trizza- never had the chance to go that fast apart from this one time at 8am on a sat morning.
  20. thanks sanity girl- thats a revelation!
  21. why dont you explain to the owner about the benefits of googling a name. and a street? that should narrowit down.
  22. i think you need to think about having some continuity for your child too. it is unsettling for them to see someone 3 days a week for several month s( say) and then not see them for a few months. eventually you may find an au pair is better as you son is older ( if you have the room).
