  1. The food here is good- but the service is so surly and rude. We ordered earl grey pot for 2 today and after we poured it and tasted it we realised it was english breakfast tea- and only one teabag and smaller than the next table's pot for 2 - and was a pot for one. when we complained they gave us another pot but with one tea bag in- we complained again and they took it away and returned it but not one sorry to be heard. WHy cant staff be more gracious? Take me back to Las Vegas, where service is service not something that has to be done by reluctant staff.
  2. I think you should try and avoid giving her attention when she is naughty- try a naughty step , but just walking away as much as you can is better ( oh so easy to say this I know!) versus ful on attention and priase when they do something good.
  3. something to do with the reception for radio fours new 3 d radio?
  4. i wonder if it is something to do with concrete/asbestos? some large council blocks will eventually need some massive repairs that could cost anything from ?5k to ?20k per flat.if the lenders think the applicant cant afford it they will be left with the bill. on the othere hand as others have said it could be the subsidence thing.can you look on the land registry website and seehow many flats have sold there and for how much?
  5. check out maternity alliance- they are clued up on this.
  6. you would be surprised- once you see their textbook with one worked example- you will be off again in a flash;-)
  7. yes they do - and you can look by yourself in year 10- but we are too late- or next year- but I think some have entry exams around xmas time!! ( private schools anyway) state school usually just say you need certain gcse grades. the main reasons are IB/ a levels, single sex/ mixed school, state v private.
  8. Katy I did not know that about vectors- maybe we should start a thread on what helps with what- ifya know whatImean- although I love factorising equations anyway- dont ask me why.........
  9. Maths is logic and you might not think so but it is about learning and rememebering processes. this is useful for lots of things in later life- just part of following an argument through and being analytical. if you are lucky enough to have a parent that uses maths everyday ( structural engineer for example) that helps enormously, otherwise I think you mum was quite helpful. there is a hugegap between gcse and a level maths though. i love trigonometry - but we are on vectors now and I always struggled with them.......... At least they dont have to use log books any more-
  10. because its so accessable might he pop down to the velodrome at burbage rd and look at mountain biking or track cycling?if he hasnot been he might like it- perfect age for him.
  11. fourways pharmacy at half moon lane do them ( HerneHill)
  12. in my expereince anything decent in the school summer holdiays is booked up the previous september- so avoid july and august if you can.
  13. their houses back on to the park.
  14. i remember camping in a layby in teh countryside a long time ago and the police moving us on at 2am- they must have had a quiet night.
  15. yes just old m and s stuff- and you get an m and s voucher- maybe other shops should do it with other charities.
  16. its still great! get rummaging.
  17. Are you going at Easter? Beautiful place, some amazing parades where catholics dresed like the klu klux klan take the statues of saints out of churches and walk them round the streets dressed up - you can hardly move- it was a bit worrying if you could not see what was in the middle of the crowd to begin with!! Toledo for a day trip by trian is excellent, also the station which has been turned into a botanic garden is good. Beware the scams on the underground where you need to watch out for pick pockets.
  18. If a 12 year old does that, you should be asking why? it is attention seeking behaviour (IMO). It is not just a matter of punishment you have to do something else- and quick if it is your son.
  19. yes i have just let it cool and thrown out in old yoghurt pot in bin, i have not refried with it.i suppose i could keep it at the back of the fridge for next time. I'll try it next week.
  20. NO I have both employed and dispatched teenagers to babysit. I dont think you can have.
  21. What does everyone do with the leftover fat from cooking your chicken? in the winter I soak up old bits of bread and put out for the birds. but when the weather is warmer they dont need it. i cant compost it so wonder what everyone else does? ( I use olive oil to cook it in). Not the most exciting thread I know, but I have a jam jar of it in the kitchen.
  22. Hah I was so lucky I had a babysitter/nanny who offered to do the ironing for a bit extra-she was an older woman who liked to do things. it was the first time I had left my baby who was 4 months old. However I still think if I had a babysitter and knew they were in for an easy night of watching tv I would offer them a bit more for doing a pile of ironing at the same time. Of course if they had to make supper and put 2 toddlers to bath/ bed I would not ask-thats enough!
  23. best one is a babysitter who will do your ironing at the same time..........
  24. never used a top and tailing bowl- 2 margarine containers were fine. I found a plastic doughnut type hting you stick down your nurisng bra really good- as the baby feeds from one nipple you tend to leak from the other- you can collect that milk and freeze it for when you are not around. not sure what they are called but if a freind had not told me there would have been a lot of wasted milk.
