  1. I think you are doing very well- i thnk anything before 3years for a boy is good- and then when it is warm outside!!!But if he is doing so wellI would try and keep to trackie bottoms that are easy to take off. CAn you use those type of trainer pants when you go out? If he has maanged ok for 4 days on his naps then I would make sure I had a waterproof protector on the mattress andcross fingers. I dont htink there is a set time for potty training, some are much quicker than others and your little boy seems ot be doing really well. Some take a few weeks and some struggle on for months, even have night time trainer pants at age 4-5.
  2. I think it all depends on what you get yourself. If you get a big ( or infact any) bonus at Christmas then it is natural to tip your nanny and cleaner etc. However if you just get a bottle of hand cream from your boss, and have to pay for your own work christmas meal, then I dont think it is imcumbant on you. I always bought nannies something and gave them maybe half a days extra wages. BUt more importantly the children made them something. Nannies are part of your life and they usually know what your circumstances are.
  3. zeban, that was my point.I never say fine .
  4. Oh Dickensman I think you are being unfair to those with very young children. It does not get harder it just changes, and if you get a decent amount of sleep over a week it makes a huge difference to how you and your partner/family are. If you are getting less than 6 hours sleep in a 24 hour period then communication and what is reasonable are very hard to judge. When challenged, woman often say everything is "FINE" anyway - but hopefully most men know that this reply means anything but;-)
  5. is there a womans refuge any where near you?

  9. whats wrong with orange juice as a starter - with champagne in- plus 2 things from your selection box/quality street tin? always works here.
  10. only 6 of you ? I know a manager that says she is going to fung shui ( sorry about spelling) the office every say 6 months and moves everyone around. I think you should have a word with your manager about that and make sure everyone moves.
  11. Dulwich Fox I am off to the funeral now. Please can some one decode for me to read tonight when I get return. All the soul searching brought on by the loss of someone at the age of 52 which seems so so wrong. Next time someone says they feel a bit dizzy-think potential stroke-don't just say lie down and it might go away:(
  12. there is a pretty horrible powder to make up into a drink to help with de hydration - something like diorlyte? if you think they are not getting enough to drink, but getting them to hold that down is pretty hard too. Hope you dont get it too.
  13. Really you have to think that if you buy second hand if you sell it third hand you will lose little money whilst if you buy new and then sell you will lose a lot more money. If you really take to it you will want to sell and upgrade soon anyway. Things to think are IMO are your height/ weight. Dont go for a sexy bike with thin racing tyres if you are not of athletic build. go to somewhere like evans, pick their brains , try a few out and then try and get a second hand one. Things to think about are - are you going to have to carry it up stairs? will you want to put it in your car/ on your car. will you want to go up on pavements? ( need thicker tyres) will you want a little rack on the back top carry stuff on? will you be pottering about SE22 mainly? there are quie a few hills so lighness of bike and more than 3 gears are quite important. If you are going to commute and leave it in the same paloce everyday for fixed time periods you will have to get good locks ( plural). Ther are some amazing lightweight bikes out there that cost over ?500 ( hah I mean ?5k) and some real tanks - some of the decathlon ones are so cheap but so heavy- ditto halfords). If you can try and borrow one from a friend for a day just to see.
  14. get HR or manager to issue a no - eating at your desks instruction company wide for health and safety reasons. then you can openly discuss what a good idea you think this is as people eating at desks can be noisy and off putting. this will air all your concerns before th no - eating is overturned- or maybe not?
