  1. Day Lewis at the ED Grove health centre as asthmatic ...must book it soon, thank you for reminding me.
  2. Really ...people complained about this post inciting violence? Good grief. Dear I love my LTN that has made my house worth more and my nice road traffic free people. I do understand that people living on ED Grove, Croxted, LL in a gardenless flat, who depend on public transport to keep their job, who are upset because their road that was busy, but is now full of idling traffic are irritating when they remind you that your ability to buy a nicer house in a nicer street, which is now even nicer, comes at the cost to others...I do understand that deep down you may feel a tingle of shame that despite the EqIA from Southwark, showing how disabled, elderly people feel trapped, disenfranchised and negatively impacted that the LTNs and the square of shame remain. It isn?t language I would necessarily use, but do let people take a moment of true despair that the consultation was a sham and their lives have been made a little more s**t. So no need to make faux complaints of ?disgusted of Calton? or ?shocked of Melbourne? or ?terrified of Elsie? when someone uses the word ?battle? or ?war?. Honestly....
  3. Of course they can remove them, the EqIA gives grounds for removal.🙄
  4. And a waste of money. How much has this vanity project cost?
  5. It is Southwark's consultation document - not an anti-LTN group. I would love the raw data to be published though. Southwark hasn't published the raw data set or the pollution data - except for June 2021..I'm sure there are more months in a year - why???
  6. The thoughts of pregnant women and women with small children in the consultation - nearly 75% negative impact of LTNs
  7. From the Southwark Council report and there are many more like this. "It was noted that Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people were more likely to live in areas outside of Dulwich Village, such as East Dulwich and Peckham ? therefore not benefitting from the low traffic measures and potentially experiencing higher traffic volumes, congestion and air pollution. Buses were mentioned as a particular concern as commutes to central London were affected with longer journey times" What does this say to us residents? I think it is telling us if you are not wealthy, white and able bodied Southwark doesn't care if you are negatively effected by the closure of roads that are very white, wealthy and with accessibility to private and public car parking.
  8. Shame hasn't bothered the majority of Southwark Councillors before, not sure why many of this new lot would feel any different. From setting up sock-puppet accounts to troll council house residents, to sitting on Council while working for property developers and lobby groups, that they eventually work for full-time, to closing roads for old mates that helped destroy Heygate and lose council housing stock for profit (that they actually didn't receive due to an inability to read the LandLease small print). In the main - Shameless, careerist and undeniably without talent or vision.
  9. I believe that the only voices that matter are former planning employees of the Council, Councillor mates, Guardian journalists and Councillor relatives. Then your road will be turned into a gated road and/or you will be gifted a square of shame. If you are elderly, have reduced mobility or rely on public transport for work or as a carer, then forget about having any impact on the future decisions of this particular council.
  10. Note that the raw data is not published. When I see this in any pharmaceutical report or in any new therapeutic study I have concern about the validity of the presented outcomes. FOI requests need to go in now as the turn-around for release is not within the recommended time-scale (Covid-19 used as an excuse as not to release in a timely manner). Despite this the indicators over the weird ranges chosen, the obscuring of data and the reluctance to consider the one major variable that will skew the data, it still shows that the majority of consulted residents and the EqIAss all indicate. 1. Unpopular 2. Increased pollution, traffic on ED Grove at some junctions over 200%. When measured when schools were closed by 26%, would be good to know what it is now schools are open? 3. Closed roads are quiet (wow - did we need a count to prove that when cars cannot go down a road there may be less cars? 4. Cycling increased during the lockdown and is now back at the same sort of levels before LTNS 5. Buses slowed and consulted residents complaining about the poor PT and PTAL even worse after LTNs, this in a time that areas without LTNs have reported faster transit times of buses. questions where is the monthly pollution levels for each road over the year where is the data on cycling on ED Grove, LL Lane and Croxted - has cycling just moved? where is the raw data of the online consultation?
  11. Yep ... and statistical modelling of raw data completely ignoring the major variable of lockdown and pandemic reduction in traffic across all of London in non-LTN areas too. Also in very small writing and hidden unless you look for it...a line that says that cycling levels returning back to pre-LTN levels already across London. Pollution data only from one month June 2021....schools shut...home working. What is the rational of keeping an unpopular policy that doesn?t have any significant positive impact on traffic reduction except for the closed roads.
  12. Apparently ED Grove will get a green hedge to make up for the years of neglect and the new increase in traffic and pollution. Unbelievable that my street was cleaner, greener, with better maintained pavements and road 35 years ago when I moved in. But a green hedge ...yay. 🙄 Roll on May..hopefully at least one major party will step forward and go on a greener, cleaner streets for every road in ED and Dulwich and get rid of these gated roads that according to Southwark?s own data have a negative impact on BAME residents trying to get to work (lots of care workers, hospital staff) and the elderly and disabled (poor access, less visits, slow public transport, confusing roads signs).
  13. As I said, although the Equality Impact Report shows 65-75% of respondents and consulted individuals want the removal of LTNs and the overall consultation shows a higher percentage of people reported negative impacts and ED Grove had an increase in traffic, at the LL junction over 200% + and an increase in NOx pollution....actually nothing that causes the negative impacts is going to change in any major way. Consultation was a waste of time and our money, they should have been honest and just told us they weren?t listening to us and they were going to do what they want.
  14. I have been told that Councillor Rose is making the decisions post consultation, not the full council or cabinet. Just one person. I do hope this is incorrect. I am also told very much ?off-line? that the ?decision? was made months ago and the consultation results are being fitted around the already made ?decision?. No point posting on this thread anymore. Just vote next local election wisely.
  15. Oh and get well soon to the accident victim...it?s horrid being involved in a traffic accident. I still have a bit of PTSD from 11 years ago. Sending positive and healing vibes through the media of forum............
  16. That junction is so dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists, especially when the traffic turning out or in from ED Grove is backed up and LL is heaving. During the day motorists seem to be a bit more affable and thoughtful (I imagine mainly locals) but on the School and Rush Hour run some seem to lose all sense of safe driving. I hate walking across that junction. The problem is I can?t see an improvement at that junction without causing chaos elsewhere.
  17. To be fair to James, he is the only Councillor who has responded to my concerns about LTNs and other local matters. I may disagree with him about LTNs but he has always engaged. All the others....nothing.
  18. I saw on Twitter than someone was possibly a victim of the same crime/group on Melbourne Grove (the station -end) although could be unrelated. Take care everyone.
  19. Strange that Danny forgot to mention Ferndale in Lambeth, where roads have had increases of 67% car traffic and 141% HGV traffic since the LTNs went in. Also - where is the raw data that Southwark promised us?
  20. Good grief.. back to face-to-face teaching all day and I come back to this! Really.. Some old and disabled people protest for an hour on a closed junction..they might have brought along some bags. A cyclist might have had to slow down, or get off their bike. The old and disabled people were called idiots, which is unkind. If you have never walked down ED Grove during the school-run horror of jammed traffic and had to dodge adults and children cycling and scootering on the pavement, or cycled and nearly been hit by U-turning cars, then maybe a person in a wheelchair with their tote-bag by their side must feel like a MAJOR CATASTROPHE! Lordy! And...it is not a ******* square!
  21. I believe it was organised by some 60+ year-old residents, who feel trapped and negatively affected by the road closures. I see that the reports are that the turnout is around 120 older Southwark residents (or 'idiots' according to at least one supporter of gated communities and polluted, traffic jammed roads).
  22. I think the health centre is going back to direct control under Southwark...I'm staying hopeful...but let's see. I miss my swim, it's just too much bother. It was lovely when they had the swim-only membership years ago, not sure why they stopped, probably wanted to make more profit?
  23. Well - when one allows degeneration as an excuse to demolish council estates, then splits up friends and families to enable a sell-off to a private property developer..who then makes millions while failing to deliver social housing at the same rental, in the number required (so a huge reduction) and then one is still a Councillor, while being given a very nice job - thank-you - with a property lobby company or one of the property developers...possibly one's mind is diverted from actually being able to count?
  24. Southwark calculated incorrectly - who would have thought! So they have too many spaces as they over-estimated. They are not great at calculations, statistics and counting it seems.
  25. This is the issue. Suspecting, imagining and even in my case -observing over 30 years is not valid, properly collected and analysed-independently data. Unfortunately Southwark Council seem to be a little troubled when it comes to the challenges of property deals (Land -lease and Heygate), consultation (LTNs and Peckham Green) and data/statistics - pollution monitors and active travel. The raw data already suffers from selection, omitted variable bias/cause-effect bias (pandemic/lockdown) and observer bias, but in any case needs to be blinded - for example not knowing which road or year is being analysed to prevent funding and cognitive bias. This is why nobody knows the real active travel and cycling numbers - all such a waste of money. just spend it on a local publicly funded local bus service and better cycle lanes/pavements and open the gated roads that do nothing for the majority of residents that fund this Council.
