I liked the break and humour, so no issue about that from me Spartacus, but I don?t like being told by others (not you), to not be serious about this matter by people who are not experiencing a 25-36% rise in traffic and pollution just metres from where they live as I do....as a direct result of LTNs. But yes...we are all now broken records. I hope Southwark are pleased when they cast their eye over the mess they have created.

Bus stop outside east Dulwich picture house
heartblock replied to sweetgirl's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Extend the pavement, keep the bus stop, lose a few parking spaces and have a limit to where outside tables can go for accessibility. If properly planned it could work for everyone. But that?s the point about Southwark...poor, poor planning usually based on mates of Councillors, ending in disastrous builds, road changes and sell offs. -
There is also one near Gilkes on ED Grove. Be careful it is in the path of cyclists. I?ll report it, but I imagine it will get worse before it get?s repaired. If the parking guys could carry some bright yellow spray paint they could circle the pothole as a warning to cyclists and then report the pothole. Southwark could introduce a ?5 bonus for each pothole reported and circled. Cheaper than being sued each time.

It is very serious for residents on Croxted, ED Grove, Grove Vale and LL worried about the health of children and vulnerable adults, I?m very aware about the terrible and dangerous conditions of my road. Humour is a way of releasing stress, but the serious nature of harm caused by Southwark?s continued dubious and questionable planning that impacts the poorest in the Borough remains a present threat. The LTN debacle is the latest in a very, very, very long list of Southwark?s dictatorship. Building on green spaces on estates might be it?s next shameful act.

The thing is Dulwichfolk, when the residents of ED Grove say our residential road is busier..we are told it?s because of the ?accident? the ?gas main? the ?water main? the ?herd of wilder-beast? or our vivid imagination. When accidents are reduced or more people choose to walk rather than take a packed bus and traffic is down ...this is due to the magic fairy dust of LTNs spreading love and joy throughout the universe.....and not because those that need to travel are all avoiding Covid 19 on the bus/tube/train and the rest aren?t travelling as working from home.
-
Yep Chris..exactly. I do wonder how Northern can defend a 25-36% increase in traffic on ED Grove after the LTNs went in..... Of course NOx levels have not been released by Southwark, but the monitoring that residents paid for showed toxic and illegal levels on our road.
-
Busy is different from peak, but one does love a pedant, where do you live Northern? What road? Looks like the poster-boy for LTNs for Rachel, Anna and Peter is not seeing an improvement in respiratory illness .....in fact one of the worst fir adults in London. Still....when that traffic evaporates all will be well. https://walthamforestecho.co.uk/ae-visits-more-likely-for-waltham-forest-asthmatics/

I suppose if traffic is at a standstill then there would be no major traffic accidents to report to the police. As I know to well..outside of the School run weeks of idling traffic Hell that lasts for 2 hrs in the morning and 2 in the evening...LTNs on Calton, Melbourne and other gated communities do not prevent serious accidents on residential roads outside of LTNs. Also they are not boundary roads or ?external? roads as Anna and Rachel like to call them. They are residential roads with people, schools and health centres. We are sacrificed for the benefit of our better off neighbours. What with infilling green spaces on estates, while selling off council housing to private developers and ?encouraging? the poorest to move out by offering an increased rent accommodation...along with ?othering? residents on Croxted, LL and ED Grove as outsiders, this Council is an utter disgrace to the once Socialist principles of the Labour Party.

Looks great, I?ll take a walk over to there when it cools down a bit. Thanks Tom. -
Street Market in Melbourne Grove anyone?
heartblock replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I?m up for transforming Melbourne into that Foxy...... -
Well, I?m not cancelling Gail?s....oh the escalation! But he is a dick of the first order. Lovely quiches though. I can make better ones, but sometimes it?s nice to buy a lovely hot cheesy, mushroomy one from there. But yes...definitely give x2 the same amount spent in Gail?s each time to refugeeaction to cleanse myself of his dickness.

Street Market in Melbourne Grove anyone?
heartblock replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well street parties on that road were always ok, so I?m sure a market would be fine. I think it?s a great idea, there are already seats and the lovely coffee shop and Big Belly?s mmmhhhhhhhn -
Thanks rahrahrah, I don?t know the family but I had a tearful moment with two of the older grieving relatives yesterday. I think it?s terrible for the friends and family, but it seems to have affected all of us on the corner. When it becomes clearer what caused it, maybe there can be changes on the road to try and prevent another accident.
-
Actually redpost that is an excellent idea, as they go around they could report street and road issues. I wonder if it something that could be suggested?

That corner is so dangerous. A group have complained for the past 4 years. I won?t detail here as under police investigation, but we all saw the aftermath on that corner. Family and friends have held a vigil for two days. Very, very sad. Nobody should die on a 20mph residential road.

Repaired..not repeated! My pleasure Lilo...kind wishes to you and your son.
-
The council must maintain all public footpaths, pathways and roads to a safe standard, as defined in Section 58 of the Highways Act, 1980, I know it will not make up for your son?s trauma, but worth pursuing an injury claim. King?s is a great unit and I hope he recovers soon. Also inform your local councillor, it needs to be repeated ASAP.

Oh he is a complete dick...we can?t be the only two who think that....nice pastries though. If I buy something from there ...I think I will have to give double the money I have spent to Refugee Action https://www.refugee-action.org.uk/?gclid=CjwKCAjwi9-HBhACEiwAPzUhHNNWnzC4AA_ArRgR-FPsYK4mAXvcUSN_OwaJWlsDFNSsJ09nUafZaBoCAz4QAvD_BwE to feel clean again.
