Depends on how Liverpool approach the game to whether this is another win. I expect United to play their usual rushing game in the final third to unsettle the Liverpool back 4 marshalled by Sergeant Carragher. I think if Liverpool try to play a game of containment they will lose by 2 or 3 goals but if they take the initiative I think Liverpool have too much power in midfield if they cut loose for United to stop the Reds chalking up another victory. Howard Webb is the Ref, and his track record at OT is far from convincing but let us hope he has a fair game.
  2. The only way United and Liverpool fans will march shoulder to shoulder is if the country is invaded by alien forces ;-) Agree about Ferguson throwing his toys out of the pram. Yes Gerrard should have got a ban but the Ref dealt with it on the pitch (if wrongly) which means the FA cannot then act. I doubt any of the hacks who cover the press conference would have the bottle to mention that but there we are. As for the game, Liverpool have built up enough confidence this week to give United a very good game Sunday even if they did play last night so may be a little tired. My only real concern as is usual with a trip to OT is who is the Ref...
  3. It's a bit of a shame really that Inter and Barcelona are in the same half of the draw, surely it is time for UEFA to mess about with the CL one more time and seed teams from QF to Final (e.g. such as in Tennis). It's almost like a dead rubber now having a French team in the semi final whilst the only real semi final of interest is likely to be Barca v Inter.
  4. Arsenal have same chance of winning CL as Man United this season - i.e. no chance - hence LG treating Barca trip as Final
  5. It's a mouth watering quarter final clash at the Emirates - be interesting to see whether Wenger allows Messi to dart around field the way he expects Arsenal players to be given freedom of the park ;-)
  6. Wayne Rooney is an excellent footballer but is not in same class as Lionel Messi (and neither are Torres or Ronaldo for that matter). Messi is simply the best player in the world by a country mile - and maybe the best of all time, yes even better than Cruyff, Maradona and Pele.
  7. The main difference was that the Ferdinand assault was off the ball. Apart from 5 mins before HT the Italians were always in control at Chelsea last night. Apparently if Inter had not made QF last night they'd have lost a CL spot to the Germans (I think from 2011/12 season). I guess the UEFA co-efficients take into account UEFA Cup / Europa League which the Bundesliga Clubs seem to do quite well in each season whereas the Italians sides rarely make a footprint.
  8. Gerrard off the hook after smashing elbow into Michael Brown last night - means he will be available for United game on Sunday. Hopefully the Reds can come through with no injuries Thursday night versus Lille. Although last night was against a very poor Pompey it will still have boosted confidence for the players to know they can still knock it about at high tempo.
  9. Well he knows how to kick a football.. and maybe they could have him on the red button as part of alternative pundit team, that includes Garth Crooks and Gaby Logan, for the dumbed down audience that you tend to draw during a world cup
  10. Beckham TV pundit? Hmmm but would he remember to chuckle along when those jackasses Linekar and Hanson ply us with their 1001 worst jokes atop table top mountain
  11. Shame about Beckham as he'd have been an important player at World Cup for England
  12. "he hit me over the side of the head with a brick" Jeeez that is pretty serious, for the sake of others this should be reported a.s.a.p. to the Police
  13. Aye count me in Mick

  15. If Liverpool are keyed up for the 2nd leg of course they'll overturn the Lille deficit - but Rafa was not sure we'd even beat Pompey after the Wigan no-show. The other aspect of the Lille 2nd leg is that is falls 3 days before a trip to Old Trafford.
  16. Prediction: Mick Mac to lose 5 pounds
  17. I counted about 38 players (betfair) who are odds on to be on the plane! I'd say at least one of Rooney, Gerrard and Ferdinand will break down before end of season and require surgery.
  18. What a load of bollox
  19. Milan simply haven't got the legs to suppress United's all action tactics for 90 minutes. Only way I can see them beating United by 2 goals is if the killer punches are delivered in the final minutes so United cannot overrun them in response when upping the tempo. From what I have seen of Lyon they are a very poor team and so I expect Madrid to make short work of the French tonight.
  20. I wouldn't mind a Spurs v Chelsea final - although the Pompey Administrator trying to melt down the Cup would also be interesting ;-)
  21. Liverpool have beaten United the last 3 times and if everyone is fit I'd expect them to beat United again. The games against Everton and United seem to really focus Rafa on the task in hand and he rarely makes mistakes in team selection for these very important fixtures - plus the players are able to self-motivate themselves in this kind of game. The Chelsea game is the final home fixture of the season for Liverpool on the penultimate weekend of the season.
  22. From experience LM it is best not to talk about MU (if that is whom you were referring as best team in the world :-S )
  23. Atila Liverpool did not lose last night because they are physically weak and Arsenal are not near the top of table because they are physically strong. Messi is not as physically strong as Darren Fletcher. I trust you now understand.
  24. I think relatively speaking Arsenal are physically weaker than Liverpool, United and Chelsea (hell look at their continual injury list!) ... and you could also say they are weaker than Bolton, Blackburn etc. But my remark was about Arsenal not being the strongest/best team in the division.
  25. Rhinestone Cowboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sat 3rd April Man Utd Chelsea > > Could all be over by then? Although Arsenal are not the strongest team (hence home & away defeats to both Utd and Chelsea) they have a significantly easier run in to the title than either Utd or Chelsea which will be made a lot smoother if they lose to Porto in CL tomorrow night.
